Idaho: Momentum Continues For Three Pro-Gun Bills

Sun, 03/24/2024 - 08:00

While legislators in some western states like Colorado and California continue to push more restrictions on lawful gun owners, Idaho lawmakers are soaring to the finish line with a number of pro-gun measures.

Fortunately for Idaho’s lawful gun owners, three such measures have been approved by the state legislature and sent to Republican Gov. Brad Little for consideration, while another remains in a Senate committee.

Senate Bill 1374 seeks to ensure that lawful Idahoans can carry firearms on public property during some special events and has been sent to the governor.

Gear Review – Mantis Laser Academy

Sat, 03/23/2024 - 11:00

The ratio of keeping your skills sharp to the amount of money you have to spend on ammo is one that’s spiraling out of control. I miss the days of 9mm running for 8.99 a box. Sadly, I don’t think those prices will ever come back. Lots of dry fire is the new normal, but dry fire can be a rather dull affair. The good news is that technology has stepped in to make dry fire a bit more entertaining.

New Lott Study: AI Chatbots Lean Left On Gun Control

Sat, 03/23/2024 - 08:00

If you were worried that the left-leaning nature of Artificial Intelligence chatbots would push it to the anti-gun side of the firearms debate, you were correct.

A recent study by John Lott, president of the Crime Prevention Research Center, showed that AI has an overwhelmingly leftwing bias concerning guns, gun control and crime.

According to his commentary posted on Friday at realclearpolitics.com, Lott asked 20 chatbots whether they strongly disagree, disagree, are undecided/neutral, agree or strongly agree with nine questions on crime and seven on gun control.

Biden Takes a Victory Lap, But Does That Victory Belong to the 2A Crowd?

Fri, 03/22/2024 - 13:48

With 29 states now making permitless carry available for those citizens who wish to practice their Second Amendment rights by carrying open or concealed—Louisiana and South Carolina the most recent two to sign such legislation into law—and courts every week striking down draconian gun laws as unconstitutional, and honestly, as the country slowly emerges from the societal disruption the pandemic caused on a global scale, crime rates, do appear to be slowly dropping on many fronts across the country.

More ATF Atrocity: ATF SWAT raid in Arkansas Raises Questions About Excessive Force

Fri, 03/22/2024 - 11:00

Bryan Malinowski, the 53-year-old executive director of the Clinton National Airport in Little Rock, Arkansas, died two days after exchanging gunfire with ATF agents who raided his home at 6 a.m. Tuesday morning. His death raises questions about whether he knew he was trading gunfire with federal agents, or if he thought their no-knock raid was a home invasion.

Malinowski’s family cannot understand what led to the gunfight and believes other less-lethal tactics should have been incorporated into ATF’s arrest strategy.

Friday Flame Out: Reviewing the XM42 Flamethrower

Fri, 03/22/2024 - 09:00

Flamethrowers. For the vast majority of Americans, these fire-slingers aren’t illegal, or even regulated in any degree. Maybe you’ve got a real need for these, like burning farm debris. Maybe you wanna have fun. Most likely, you’ve decided “I want that stuff over there to be on fire, but I wanna stand over here.” Your reason really isn’t important, these things are just too cool. Let’s take a look at the XM42, one of the least expensive options on the market.

Chicago Sues Glock for Felony Misuse of Its Pistols

Fri, 03/22/2024 - 07:00

Glock has been selling reliable, accurate, basically bomb-proof polymer-framed, striker-fired pistols in the United States for over 30 years. In fact, they’ve sold so many of them that you’d be hard pressed to go to a pistol range in a free state and not see at least a handful in use.

That fact, however, hasn’t stopped anti-gun advocates from hating the Glock. And the most dangerous city in the country put that hatred to good use last week by suing the handgun company because criminals have figured out how to convert the semi-auto pistols to fire full auto.

ATF Finally Responds to SAF Investigation…Sort Of

Thu, 03/21/2024 - 15:00

Senior ATF officials must have noticed Joe Biden’s shockingly low poll numbers and realized that their war against law-abiding American gun owners will soon be lost.

Now, the ATF is taking steps to clean house as much as possible and get rid of any proof that they violated the civil rights of millions of Americans, before they’re hauled in front of congressional committees to answer for their rampant misconduct.

After years of waiting, the ATF suddenly responded to two Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests from the Second Amendment Foundation.

In a modern tale of what may be online dating gone wrong, a Texas woman was traveling for a weekend getaway with a man she had recently met when she was forced to kill the man in an alleged case of self-defense. The incident occurred in the wine country of central Texas.

According to multiple news sources, on Friday, March 15, shortly after noon, Gillespie County 911 received a call from a panicked woman.

NRA on the Offensive in First Amendment Case Against NY as They Head to Supreme Court

Thu, 03/21/2024 - 11:00

The NRA is once again going to the legal mat with the State of New York, but this time it is the State that is on the defensive. The fight is moving to the U.S. Supreme Court in a battle that has seen NRA confront New York state regulators over their efforts to restrict the organization’s access to insurance and financial services. This confrontation centers not on the Second Amendment’s right to bear arms but on the First Amendment protections of free speech, potentially setting a precedent for the extent of government officials’ influence over the operations of regulated businesses.

Anti-Gun Kansas Lawmakers Pushing Restrictive Legislation

Thu, 03/21/2024 - 09:02

Most of the states throughout mid-America’s heartland tend to lean far toward the pro-gun side of the Second Amendment debate. But that doesn’t stop the anti-gun minority in those states for pushing ill-conceived schemes that would restrict law-abiding gun owners while doing nothing to curtail violent crime.

As in many states, the anti-gun advocates in Kansas have trotted out much the same laundry list of restrictions as are being considered in many less firearms-friendly states.

Making a Case for True Natural Rights for All in Second Amendment Argument

Wed, 03/20/2024 - 15:00

A recent federal court ruling has stirred up controversy. While that happens all the time, this one is special because it’s got the gun rights community divided. The big rub? The question of whether people who entered the country illegally can lawfully possess a gun. Some conservatives and libertarians/liberals are on the side of the defendant, while others are angry about it, with some even thinking it’s part of a plot to create an army of “invaders”.

Biden Signs Pro-Gun Bill…Well, Not Exactly

Wed, 03/20/2024 - 13:00

One of the strangest, and probably worst ways some laws are passed in our system, is when a politician adds a rider or provision they know their colleagues across the aisle oppose onto a larger bill that they know the other side wants so badly, that they will just sign the bill, making it all into law. The Democrats are masters of that legislative trick, and so it seems, are the Republicans.

In the most recent example of this, in a government funding bill President Biden desperately wanted to see approved, Republicans slid a provision in that would restore gun rights to countless veterans who had been denied that right since 1998.

NJ Homeowner Shoots Intruder, Now Faces Nation’s Toughest Self-Defense Laws

Wed, 03/20/2024 - 10:57

A Trenton, New Jersey, homeowner faced a harrowing event late Sunday night when a man with a hammer broke into his house forcing him to shoot the man in self-defense. Now he potentially faces another larger and more protracted harrowing event should he be forced to navigate New Jersey’s legal system and the state’s strict self-defense laws. Fortunately, he was in his home where the law, even for New Jersey, seems to be fairly clear cut.

Palmetto State Armory JAKL Review

Wed, 03/20/2024 - 08:31

The Palmetto State Armory JAKL was first introduced several years ago, but is now hitting its stride with consumers. The JAKL is an adjustable gas, long-stroke piston operated AR-15.  The JAKL has been billed as a “truck gun” by many.

It has taken a couple years to really get off the ground, and even had a couple QC and parts compatibility hiccups along the way.  Palmetto State Armory now seems to be delivering everything that was initially promised, with multiple calibers and barrel lengths available and more on the way.

Delaware Senate Passes Law Going After Handgun Owners

Wed, 03/20/2024 - 07:01

In proof that even small states that account for a small percentage of the total gun ownership in America can still pass laws that are a huge pain in the butt for said gun owners, NRA-ILA reported over the weekend that the Delaware Senate passed Senate Substitute 1 for Senate Bill 2 (SB 2) by a vote of 15 to 6. The purely anti-gun “legislation will impose a Maryland-style ‘handgun qualified purchase card’ and a handgun transfer registry, creating a perpetual cycle of costs and delays to maintain” a citizen’s ability to purchase a handgun.

N.J. Attorney General Platkin Has a Sticker Party. States ‘Guns Bad,’ on Taxpayers’ Dime.

Tue, 03/19/2024 - 15:00

Ever since we got that wonderful gift from Justice Thomas on his birthday in 2022, the former “may-issue” states have been having hissy fits. The landmark NYSRPA v. Bruen decision sent a clear message to draconian states that the villagers shall have their pitchforks and they shall be able to have them in public for self-defense. Recent antics coming from Attorney General Matthew Platkin include an initiative allowing businesses to register as “gun-free zones” and get a “free” sticker advertising their disdain for civil liberties.
