Wisconsin – Do you know anyone who ever forgot their first deer? I sure don’t. I clearly recall my first deer, way back in 1987.

Earlier this evening President Obama signed the 2016 National Defense Authorization Act. Among the myriad provisions in the bill is a portion authorizing the transfer of 100,000 surplus 1911 pistols to the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) for sale to qualified U.S. citizens.

* Hand-held flashlight, extra batteries and bulb, because you can’t find your hunting spot, dog, gear, even your gun in the dark.

If your home or apartment is like most people’s, it is jammed full and lacking space for storage. So, as a prepper you likely want and need to collect new dedicated supplies, gear, equipment, soft goods, clothing, medical stuff and so forth. Where do you securely store and keep it.

For all the false expectations that trail cameras can give you, they do deliver certain data sets of value. When the French military were the first to adapt smokeless powder use in their Army rifles, they gained a huge advantage on the battlefield. Know what that was? Of course you do. By using smokeless powder the enemy was unable to tell exactly where shots were coming from because there was no longer the visible plume of smoke coming from the black powder cartridges.

I first got to shoot Kel-Tec RDB in March 2015. After a week in Florida, I took a 17″ and a 20″ rifle to the I.C.E. defensive carbine class Tennessee with me to see how they performed. The course called for 600-800 rounds, I ended up firing a bit more than that.

Add 2 cups of water to the Dales Sauce in a deep bowl, drop in garlic and marinate venison chunks for 1 to 3 hours in the refrigerator.

Here’s another interesting firearm video from Forgotten Weapons. It’s a pistol that was patented in 1990, which is “disguised” as a pen or tire pressure gauge, but is NOT classified by BATF as an AOW (any other weapon) because it had to be “folded into a vaguely gun-like shape before it could be fired.”

Shooting Sports Retailer reports in the company’s latest financial statement to investors, Remington Outdoor Company disclosed declining sales of firearms and ammunition in the last quarter.

In the third quarter ending Sept. 27, sales of Remington Outdoor Company firearms declined 19.8 percent over the previous year, with ammunition sales dropping 21.2 percent. Overall net sales for the company dropped 23.5 percent to $59.7 million.

Remington is experiencing declines in their market share due to customers buying less expensive product. Do you find yourself switching to less expensive brands these days?

Ohio legislators in the State House have reportedly passed a bill that would add to the places in which a duly licensed concealed carrier may legally have a handgun. But of course, this sensible approach faces opposition from the uninformed.

The Bluegrass State is one of the top places in the nation for giving up giant whitetails.  Hundreds of Boone & Crocket bucks have been recorded, and countless P&Y deer have fallen to bowmen.  Moreover, Kentucky is extremely rural in many regions, with low hunter density, high success rates, and vast public access.

One recent autumn 37-year old teacher Steve Flores of Julian, West Virginia tagged a 170-inch, 12-point buck he took from Logan County, near the capital city of Charleston.  While that heavy buck is his best-ever deer, it’s not the only good one he’s collected by bow from Logan County.  He previously tagged a 9-point, 130-inch P&Y, taken from the same tree stand where he claimed the 12-pointer.

It is a real bummer to have a flat tire on an ATV or any outlands vehicle when you are miles from help. Trust me, I know, because I have been there and the walk back to camp was not fun. That problem has now been solved with a single bottle of LiquiTube tire sealant that we keep in camp with a plug in air pump to restore tire pressure.
