Bills to allow law-abiding citizens without concealed carry permits to bear arms during declared mandatory evacuations are now being supported by a group that effectively blocked similar legislation last year.

One man is dead after he broke into an Albuquerque home last week and, while armed with a knife, threatened to kill the homeowner, who was armed with a gun.

Senior U.S. Circuit Judge Michael Daly Hawkins held this week that Sunnyvale, California’s confiscatory magazine prohibition is in accordance with the Constitution. A three-judge appeals court panel Wednesday found that the city’s contentious ban on all magazines holding more than 10 rounds does not violate Second Amendment rights. Written by representatives Pete King, R-New York, and Mike Thompson, D-California, bipartisan HR 1217  aims to expand the background check system to encompass the commercial sale of all firearms, including those sold at gun shows, through the Internet and in classified ads.
