NYPD officer accidentally shoots sergeant while aiming at dog (VIDEO)
While responding to a call about an assault Tuesday night, an NYPD sergeant was struck by a bullet from the gun of a fellow officer.
The two officers were in an apartment building when someone let a Pit Bull out into the hallway. The dog came at the officers, at such time, one of the officers fired a shot. The bullet struck the dog, but apparently ricocheted off of the wall and struck the sergeant in the foot.
The sergeant was treated for the injury and was last listed in stable condition. The dog is expected to be okay as well.

Certainly luck plays a role in surviving any violent encounter, but if you are prepared for most eventualities (conceal carry permit, gun, magazine, knife, tactical pen, regular range time, et cetera) your odds of survivability improve dramatically over someone who’s simply hoping a disaster won’t occur. In a cruel twist of fate, however, it’s possible that some of the things you do in good conscience to train for an emergency could be putting your life (and those you might protect) at a greater risk than you might think.
