The Civil War soldier’s skull was discovered near a barn that was used as a hospital during the Battle of Gettysburg.

According to data collected by Mother Jones, the majority of weapons used in mass shootings in the last 30 years have been legally owned.

A South African mountain biker was robbed at gunpoint while traversing a popular Somerset West trail.

Cyclist Malcolm Fox was at the tail end of his bike ride when he crossed some railroad tracks and was met by an armed robber. He was relieved of his bicyle and personal effects, but his helmet-mounted GoPro captured it all, Gawker reports.

The robber appears to stare directly into the camera, but doesn’t seem to care that his face is captured on digital media.

Because of the footage, the crooks were captured a short time later.

“Korengal” is part sequel and part expansion of the original documentary “Restrepo” by director Sebastian Junger. Junger wanted to deepen the connection between his audience and the Second Platoon, B Company of the U.S. Army and their lives in the Korengal Valley in Afghanistan.

Junger describes it as “Every bit as intense and affecting as Restrepo,” and that it “goes a step further in bringing the war into people’s living rooms back home.”

“Korengal” is a Kickstarter success story.

Capt. Mark Gongol was a passenger aboard a commercial when the plane’s captain lost consciousness. He quickly stepped in and helped bring the plane safely to the ground.
