Demographics and the NRA’s “inevitable fall”

Wed, 11/18/2015 - 18:14

The New York Times is a reliable opponent of gun rights, as the recent editorial, “The Concealed-Carry Fantasy,” illustrated.  Identifying the stance of the Times falls into the category of obvious statements like declaring that on a clear day—insert dramatic pause—the sky is blue.  If something is needless to say, why say it?

Why can’t a hunter, tactical shooter, gun collector and competitive shooter all get along? (VIDEO)

Wed, 11/18/2015 - 17:35

Colion Noir takes a four-sided look at the worn stereotypical types of gun owner and how they all throw shade at the other three, for the common good of none.

While it’s easy to recognize parts of yourself or acquaintances in each of the four types portrayed, the underlying message behind why we tend as gun owners to chose a niche and heckle all others is subtly addressed by the NRA commentator.

Which one do you identify closest to?

Wed, 11/18/2015 - 11:08

A YouTuber posted his own low-cost nitrocellulose cannon made from some copper tubing, two 6-volt batteries and other household items.

Firing momentary flaming balls of nitrocellulose– also known as gun cotton or flash cotton– which can be bought online at magic shops, the cannon is simple enough and seems pretty sweet and simple to build.

Its sure to make your inner pyro very happy.

Reality check on gun control in Australia and Britain (VIDEO)

Tue, 11/17/2015 - 16:36

Investigative reporter Ben Swann with CBS46 in Atlanta takes a closer look at the familiar trope of the success or failure of gun control overseas.

One of the most familiar arguments on both sides of the gun issue is the effect of strict policy changes on the regulation of firearms in fellow English-speaking countries Australia after their National Firearms Agreement of 1996 and in the UK after their Firearms Act of 1988.

Swann encapsulates both complex issues and the results of each in under five minutes.

How does the new Beretta M9A3 9mm pistol compare (VIDEO)

Tue, 11/17/2015 - 13:42

The Military Arms Channel breaks out an old-school M9 and M9A1 to stack them up against Beretta’s new M9A3 model inside and out.

A would-be suitor to replace the legacy 9mm’s of the U.S. Army as part of their Modular Handgun System that favors modular designs with varying grip size options, night sights, Picatinny rails and extended, threaded barrels for suppressors, the M9A3 has some stiff competition.

Welcome to 1894: Trying to run and gun with the Krag (VIDEO)

Tue, 11/17/2015 - 13:27

The Firearm Blog went full on Spanish-American War and attempted to do a little running and gunning with the Springfield Krag rifle.

Adopted in 1892 from the Norwegian Krag Jorgensen rifle, the ‘Krag had a bolt-action that was smooth as silk but loaded through an awkward side gate. After running up against Spanish Army regulars in Cuba equipped with Mausers, the U.S. Army lost its love for the .30-40 caliber Scandinavian bolt gun and adopted their own shameless version of the Mauser as the 1903 Springfield.

Overall though, Alex seemed like they were able to do his loaner, made in 1894, justice.

Richard Ryan and the FullMag gang decided they had enough fun with their Hoverboard and rather than thrift shop it, opened up with a M2 Browning.

Hoverboards have been kinda overrated in our opinion anyway, whereas Ma Deuce never gets old.

This guy…
