S&W .500 mag vs truck bed liner homemade armor (VIDEOS)
Edwin Sarkissian made a composite armor sandwich from Line-X spray in truck bed liner, 18 ga sheet metal, kevlar and ceramic floor tile. It stood up to 5.56mm, so then he brought in S&W Five-Hundo.
The results with some Underwood Ammo .500 S&W are impressive– for the armor.
How he made the stuff is detailed below, including the 5.56mm test.

Boyfriend shot by girlfriend over cold taco (VIDEO)
An early morning shooting in Houston Monday is under investigation and police say it may have stemmed over a cold taco.
According to the Houston Police Department, a man and his girlfriend got a taco from a taco truck around 2 a.m., but the woman complained about the taco being cold. The woman apparently asked the taco truck worker to heat up the taco, but when he refused, the woman became irate and pulled a gun on the worker.
At that point, the woman’s boyfriend asked her to calm down, but she instead pulled the trigger, striking her boyfriend. Authorities did not say whether they believed the shooting to be intentional or accidental, but the man is expected to survive.
It’s unclear whether the taco was reheated or eaten.

Noir on the 7 types of people headed to the range (VIDEO)
From “Never Enough Ammo Guy” to “Zombie Apocalypse Man” and “Mr. Clean Guy,” Colion Noir and Darren LaSorte explore some of the ways people get ready for the gun range.
Sure, we all tend to have at least some of these familiar tropes in ourselves, or at least see them in others, (“Mr. Extranious Equipment Guy,” right here, nice to meet you) so Noir is on point to a degree.
Which types do you recognize?

Sure, Cabot Guns’ 1911s are pretty, but can they shoot? (VIDEO)
Specialty GI longslide maker Cabot Guns is known for making 1911s out of everything from meteorites to wooly mammoth teeth– and they work to boot.
Jeff Quinn of Gunblast.com visits with Cabot reps in the above video and gets some background (did you know Cabot makes 31 different 1911 components completely in-house?) then at about the 6:45 mark, actually gets to briefly sling some lead with the guns.
And yes, there is dual wielding.

About Tula ammo damaging steel plates…(VIDEO)
Karl with InRangeTV has a sit down to talk about the bi-metal and steel-cased 5.56mm from overseas and tests their use against steel targets when compared to more traditional ammo.
In many places, ammo that will attract a magnet (or Wolf/TulAmmo by name) is banned from some matches and ranges as it is thought that it causes increased damage on steel targets.
To test this out, Karl runs an AR with Tula silvers, the TulAmmo zinc washed bullets and M193 ball against a steel plate at 20 yards.
You be the judge.

Who does it faster: The AR15 burrito challenge (VIDEO)
Matt from Demolition Ranch faces off against Furious Pete in a Texas burrito-eating/AR-15 assembly competition.
The race is a three-parter.
First, assemble a stripped AR at the table.
Next, inhale a burrito the size of a mixed breed puppy (the residual CLP on their hands may help speed this up).
Finally, wash it down with a bottle of suds as a Texas postmeal nightcap.
Pete is a certified burrito assassin whereas Matt is more in touch with his weapon manipulation, so the two are evenly matched.
However, we would like to point out that Pete did not function check, so maybe the commissioner should call a DQ on this one. Just saying.

Does chalk make a good target? Just ask Kirsten Joy Weiss (VIDEO)
Pro shooter Kirsten Joy Weiss is always looking for new targets that are easy to set up yet challenging to shoot, inexpensive, and, of course, fun. So when someone suggested chalk, she thought she’d give it a shot.
While Weiss seemed a bit disappointed that, despite previous suggestions, the chalk didn’t explode into a colorful puff of powder, she indicated it still made a decent target.

Shoulder-fired 1.5-inch DIY cannon in action (VIDEO)
“We’ve got 120 grains of black powder…” says backyard ordnance maker Royal Nonesuch with a wince as he steadies his homemade hand cannon towards a stack of milk jugs.
A modern take on the old Chinese hand cannon, Royal makes a very simple 37mm (1.5-inch) bore muzzleloader that he tries with various loads of black powder (hence no-NFA) and wadding pushing solid disc projectiles and loose shot. Ignition is via what looks like green cannon fuse fed into a touch hole.
It’s silly and is pretty low velocity probably due to the length of the tube versus the bore, but at least he uses eye pro this time around. Further, it’s likely better than what the Chinese had.
Likely.

English law student records first trip into US gun store (VIDEO)
To one who lives in a country where firearms are very heavily regulated, the availability and number of guns often found in gun shops across the United States can come as quite a shock, as broadcasted by a law student from England who recently visited one such shop in Minnesota.
Steven Charles Wood, a law student at Oxford Brookes University in England, recorded his virgin voyage into a U.S. gun shop, expressing his sheer shock at the rows and rows of guns and ammunition available to “any customer.”
Despite his disbelief, a young patron assured Wood, “This is very normal to us.”

Attempting to inflate a balloon with a little help from black powder (VIDEO)
Taking a break from exotic shotgun shells, the gang at Taofledermaus grabbed some black powder and a few random balloons to see if they could (literally) blow one up.
Starting with about 1/2 tsp of black powder set off by a length of cannon fuse on the inside of a water balloon, they step it up to a larger party-size balloon and up the charge to see if they could fully expand one using a dab of the smokey stuff.
And they kinda did.
If you count a millisecond of high speed footage as “kinda.”

The evolution from slabside to bakelite in the AK mag world (VIDEO)
Reaching way back into the closet, Ian from Forgotten Weapons strolls down the evolutionary road and shows off a wide variety of Soviet/Russian Kalash mags.
Starting with the Izhevsk-produced 1948 slabside steel mags and moving forward, Ian brings in the ribbed mags aluminum waffle mags, orange bodied bakelites and the rest, with brief layovers at the RPK arena, dropping knowledge the whole way.

Splitting an arrow with a .50 cal (VIDEO)
Giving the people what they want, Richard Ryan and the FullMag group give Robin Hood a BMG update by attempting to split an arrow from nock to point with 660-grains of awesome.
Of course, the fletching is plastic and the shaft is carbon rather than the old-school feathers and poplar of Sir Robin’s day, but this is John Browning’s tale here, so its all good.

How much firepower do you need to crack an 855-pound safe? (VIDEO)
Matt on DemolitionRanch got Liberty to donate one of their new 25-rifle National Classic gun safes for fully destructive testing.
Fully. Destructive. Testing.
With the help of Canadian muscle in the form of Furious Pete, they go after the safe which Liberty advertises as having a 2-step, 5″ door that includes a 3/8″ solid steel door plate and 16 active 1.25″ diameter locking bolts surrounding all four sides of the door.
The safe is fire rated to withstand 1200 F for 110 minutes– but what about fire(arms)?
Starting with .22LR and moving very rapidly north from there, the battle is on.

Trying to block the Glock in 9mm, .40 and .45ACP (VIDEO)
Edwin Sarkissian tests out his Glocks in assorted calibers against a stack of cinder blocks to see how they work on penetration.
Moving from a 115-grain 9mm in his G19 (“I did not think it would ricochet,” he says) he steps it up to a 230-grain FMJ in his .45ACP G30 and finally a 185-grain solid from his .40S&W G23.
He was surprised in the end which made it through and which didn’t. Cue the “stopping power” guy on the message boards with this one.

168 weapons turned in at Cleveland gun buyback (VIDEO)
The Cleveland Police Department collected 168 unwanted weapons during a gun buyback over the weekend.
“The line at one point was wrapped around the block,” said Cleveland Police Chief Calvin Williams. “That’s great. It means people are getting our message: Get guns out of your homes that you’re not using; get guns off our streets.”
The guns were exchanged for various food and gas cards worth up to $200. Williams, who said the unwanted weapons are melted down and recycled, hopes the next buyback will be even bigger.
