A look at a 6-shot pepperbox shotgun: The Nock flintlock (VIDEO)
Henry Nock was famous for his 7-shot sea-sweeping Volley Gun but he also made this very interesting early 1800s self-priming flintlock with a full half-dozen rotating barrels.
Outfitted with six 18-inch long, 44 gauge barrels that are hand-rotated, much like a giant pepperbox pistol, into position, the gun uses an ingenious automatic primer system.
The one shown off by Ian from Forgotten Weapons, above, is up for auction this weekend at RIA, estimated price: $20,000 – $30,000.
Or, $3,000-$5,000 per barrel.

12-year-old cancer patient gets wish to ‘blow stuff up’ (VIDEO)
Some Make-A-Wish kids want to be Batman, or see Disneyland. Declan just wanted to blow some stuff up.
Currently in remission from leukemia, the Australian youth was able to spend a day at the Australian Federal Police’s training center in Canberra where he participated in exercises, met with Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull and Governor-General Sir Peter Cosgrove, and, oh yeah, got to set off some breaching charges.
Then came a visit with the U.S. Marine Security Guard detachment at the embassy and more scenarios.
“The whole experience has just been overwhelming,” said his mother.

7-year-old bags her first deer like a pro (VIDEO)
North Texas huntress Lilly Clapper was all smiles after she harvested her first deer with a single shot via .300 Blackout.
Tension builds as Lilly, daughter of sportsman Cody Clapper, waits patiently for the animal to get in the perfect position as coached by her whispering father.
“Shoot the big one…don’t shoot yet,” he says.
“I know…” she whispers back, eyes on her Leupold scope, showing great trigger control.
Then the shot comes and the AR, braced by a shooting stick, recoils into her shoulder– but once its travel is over she sees the doe go down and it’s all high-fives and smiles.
Somewhere in New York, a journalist is screaming to the sky.

Blasting a crater through body armor with .458 SOCOM (VIDEO)
Matt down on DemolitionRanch makes the magic happen with a CMMG Anvil and a stack of various exotic .458 rounds.
The big ole’ fat SOCOM round, derived from the .50 AE pistol cartridge, is heavy and slow, delivering a brutal amount of energy into a target– but how does Level III+ armor rated for .308 stand up to it when piled on deep?
“Trying to contain the .458 is like trying to contain a bull with a baby gate,” says Matt. “It’s just not gonna happen.”
Sidebar, did you know he is a veterinarian?

What makes a good ‘brush gun’ (VIDEO)
Eric with IV8888, besides being a Georgia gunsmith, is a hunter that has spent lots of time in the woods and with that in mind tests various guns fired through thick undergrowth to see if the concept of “brush gun” holds water.
Running a mix of models and calibers through about 15 yards of hedge and brush to a slightly occluded target, the results are pretty interesting, especially when it comes to grouping.

The Gould Brothers are back, and they hit clays… with clays (VIDEO)
The Gould Brothers, a team of two literal bros who are really into exhibition shotgun shooting, see how accurate their Promatic trap machine really is.
Of course the video has a soundtrack that belongs in a Monster energy drink commercial, but these guys are so good it’s sick. How sick? 100 yard clay break and over-the-shoulder .22 mirror shot kinda sick.
And just for the record, these “guys are professionals,” so don’t try to hit things on purpose with your trap machine.

Big bore air gun stacked against high pressure air tanks (VIDEO)
Rimfire master 22Plinkster grabbed an AirForce Texan .45– billed as the world’s most powerful production air rifle– and tried to drill into some 3500 psi air tanks with it.
Using 350-grain hard cast slugs at 850 fps from a safe (he thinks) distance, Plink lets it rip and gets surprised– first at how tough the tanks are, then, after he grabs a .308, at how much of a thump they left as they headed for the stratosphere.
Remember the last few minutes of Jaws?

Go ahead, guess how many weapons she has on her (VIDEOS)
Anna Taylor, a professional firearms instructor, is rocking at least three semi-auto handguns and a OTF knife, but the only thing she has in her purse is lipstick.
In the above video for Dene Adams, a maker of a line of concealed carry corsets, shorts and other gear, Anna has a SIG P320, a smaller P238, a Glock 43 and a CobraTec OTF for when you get into those sticky situations.
If you are curious as to how fast you can draw a single gun when you need to, the below video has Anna drawing from Dene Adams holster shorts.

Snuffing out candles with an air pistol (VIDEO)
Gav and Daniel, aka The Slow Mo Guys, obtained one of the apparently most inaccurate airguns available to them, and proceeded to attempt to snuff out lit candles.
From just under 10 feet (3 meters) they manage to dial it in after a few practice shots, finding the sweet spot captured on the Phantom high speed camera.
The footage is magical.
Should have just used a 12 gauge.

Firing ‘gear drive’ shotgun slugs using sockets as a mold (VIDEO)
Using a 5/8″ socket as a mold for a custom one-ounce rifles lead slug, the Taofledermaus crew went to work.
The experimental gear drive slug was made by a viewer who poured molten lead into the slug, then gave it a point on a lathe and countersunk the base to create a very neat looking projectile the Tao gang was just itching to try out.
How does it work? Watch the vid.
*Warning: There is gummy bear violence.

A look at the ‘Native Guard’ (VIDEO)
Warren Queton is a member of the Kiowa Nation. He belongs to the warrior society Black Leggings and the Native American Church. He is also a Captain in the Oklahoma National Guard and full-time federal technician for the Guard’s 45th Infantry Brigade Combat Team which has deployed several times to Iraq and Afghanistan.
The unit’s sleeve insignia is the Thunderbird, an important and respected Native American symbol that was carried by the 45th Infantry Division in WWII and Korea.
“Per capita, American Indians serve the most amongst all other races and ethnicities in the United States,” says Capt. Queton, pointing out that his relatives preceded his own service in the 45th in the above video made by the U.S. Army to honor Native American Heritage Month.

Accuracy testing an MP5 SMG with the switch set to Freedom (VIDEO)
Contrary to the familiar trope, a short barreled submachine gun on its rock and roll setting is not the uncontrollable room broom some would have you to believe.
This myth is duly busted by photographer extraordinaire Oleg Volk who captured the above Heckler and Koch MP5 complete with 100-round Beta C-drum in the hands of the very skilled Kris Paulson– who seems to have no problem making Swiss cheese of a pair of goblin targets at 50 yards.
Maybe we should say German cheese…

Some call it a cannon, which it kinda looks like. Kinda (VIDEO)
Seattle’s KCPQ, a Washington area Fox affiliate, went epic when a local TV personality was asked by Google to draw a cannon.
Part of Google’s A.I. Experiments, an online doodle game learns as you sketch an item. Host Travis Mayfield kicks it off with simple drawings of a bow tie and scissors.
Then Kaci Aitchison picks a cannon to draw and the train leaves the rails.
Hey, this is gun related. Marginally NSFW, but still gun related.

500-grains of Freedom from a S&W 500 vs sheet metal (VIDEO)
YouTuber Edwin Sarkissian stacks up 24 sheets of 24 gauge sheet metal to see if the vaunted Smith and Wesson .500 Magnum will beast through it.
Spaced with 2x4s, you can really see the expansion of the soft lead core from sheet to sheet, especially once the jacket gets stripped from the 500-grain.
There is also some bonus iron elimination at the end of the video. Apparently Edwin is more of a wash and wear kinda guy.

Top Shot Dustin Ellermann’s tips for teaching kids to shoot (VIDEO)
Heading to the range with a single-shot Savage Rascal .22, Ellerman walks you through a straightforward day at the range with the kid-o’s.
Starting with basic range safety (“That’s something you can talk about with your child no matter how young they are”) to eye dominance, loading, firearms manipulation, nomenclature, securing firearms (there is a good tip on ARs in there) and marksmanship.
Going past that, Ellerman, who spends a lot of time– when he isn’t doing firearms reviews or testing– teaches young marksmanship classes, talks about how to make it fun for the youth involved.
Because if it is fun, they will want to do it, right?
Seed-corn, baby.

In Massachusetts, defining ‘assault weapons’ can be tricky (VIDEO)
Massachusetts is one of a handful of states that have an assault weapons ban, but Attorney General Maura Healey said in the years the ban has been in affect, gunmakers have produced copycatted versions of the banned firearms in an effort to skirt around the law.
This led Healey to send out a notice earlier this year, stating characteristics that constituted an “assault weapon,” but gun owners and retailers still claim the definition is so vague that – especially when it comes to copycats – they just aren’t sure what’s legal and what’s not.

Taurus SMG goes slam fire somewhere in Brazil (VIDEO)
The social media page for the Brazilian federal police forces ran a simple video which shows just how spicy a Metralhadora Taurus model submachine gun can be when left to its own devices.
The official page for the Forças Policiais do Brasil posted the video of an MT, which Max Popenker says has a cyclic rate of between 1200-1300 rpms, going full tilt boogie upon insertion of a fresh mag and letting the bolt go into battery.
While our Portuguese is rusty, we take it somebody in the background is gathering the fellow range inhabitants with a local version of, “You guys gotta see this shit.”
The only caption givenby the FPB: “Taurus.”
Searing.

Comparing a vintage 1862 Colt Police with a modern Uberti reproduction (VIDEO)
Capandball, a Hungarian black powder enthusiast and collector, puts the OG Colt Police wheelgun from 1862 next to an Italian repro side by side on the table and the range.
Just 28,000 Model 1862s were made by Colt and after 150~ years they are getting kinda scarce. However a spaghetti repro is just a mail order away.
Sure, ‘Cap has the whole Bela Lugosi thing going on (who was also Hungarian), but he really knows his black powder guns and not only breaks out the calipers and swaps out parts between the guns to test functionality, but stacks them up on paper as well.

Everytown calls Trump’s Second Amendment promises ‘ghastly’ (VIDEO)
The largest gun control group in the country, whose benefactor spent millions on various candidates and initiatives this election cycle with mixed results, is not a fan of Trump’s remarks on guns.
“Here are some of the ghastly things Donald Trump promised the NRA,” the group posted Friday to social media with the above clip which shows various soundbites of the new President-elect and his feelings on gun politics. In the short vid, he talks about dropping gun free zones at schools and on military bases as well as repealing President Obama’s executive orders on firearms.
Trump’s own platform on Second Amendment rights pretty much outlines his feelings should you be fuzzy.
