Gun Free Zone

Linda Stasi, of the NY Daily News, wrote a piece about the San Bernardino shooting that is about as detestable a piece of moral equivocation as anything I’ve every seen.

Florida gets a bad rap for being the country’s stupidest state.  For the most part, that goes back to the 2000 election and the butterfly ballot issue. The then every once in a while, my people (I’m a born and raised Floridian) decide to reinforce the stereotype.

SiGraybeard just reminded me that if you don’t live in Florida, you don’t get some of our critters.

Case in point, the new iguana I call Anaranjada (Orangy).

She is not that big for South Florida standards but I think big enough to take care of the neighborhood dogs that run into the medium to small sizes .

But what surprised the hell out of me is that 10 minutes after I took that picture, Anaranjada jumped into the water and proceeded to swim across the lake to the other side (214 yards according to Google maps), on a straight line with a crosswind of at least 10 mph.  I was so amazed I did not think to video the event until she was halfway inside the lake.

Who knew?

So what has been happening with people after the San Bernardino TERRORIST attack? People marching in the streets demanding ban all the guns? Burning of the NRA HQ in Virginia? Stoning gun owners at gun ranges?

So the LA Times published an opinion piece on how it’s too easy to get guns and only the military should have…. blah… blah… blah… usual bullshit, whatever.

The Society of Professional Journalists has issued a series of guidelines on how Journos should cover Islamists. By the looks of it, it seems to have come out after 9/11, but if you think how Islamic Terrorism has been covered and is being covered right this minute, you know it is still valid and much alive. I was unaware of its existence until this morning.

Loretta Lynch, at a press conference yesterday, termed the San Bernardino shootings a “wonderful opportunity” to change the nature of police work:
“We’re at the point where these issues have come together really like never before in law enforcement thought and in our nation’s history and it gives us a wonderful opportunity and a wonderful moment to really make significant change.”

I have plenty to write about, but yesterday and old neck injury decided to stop by and revisit me. And since I am one of those that needs to look at the keyboard while typing, writing is literally a pain in the frigging neck.

While the Left, Gun Control groups and even DHS were watching Gun Owners, the NRA and 2A groups, 3%ters, Christians, Jews, Tea Party, etc, Syed Rizwan Farook and Tashfeen Malik were prepping with all confidence and carried an attack on a soft target. And you can also bet your ass they were not the only ones out there.

But hey, Global Warming causes terrorism: Go buy LED light bulbs. I am sure they will stop terrorist attacks.

Carry your gun, carry at least two spare bags loaded with quality defensive ammo. And rethink the idea of a truck gun.

Reading about the San Bernardino shooters, I came across a news article that said:

The Narrative is inflexible: A mass shooter is a White guy, Christian, racist possibly redneck and member of the NRA. That is what the Gun Control groups keep telling us and the Traditional Media whispers in its editorials.

Both of my Brothers-in-law are getting married within the next 12 months.  My wife was recounting to me their wedding plans.  In the course of the conversation, as conversations about marriages with women go, the topic of my proposal came up.  Suffice it to say, my proposal wasn’t all that great.   I was also 21 at the time and still in college.  In my own defense, 21 year old college kids aren’t the wisest or most romantic, despite what they (we) may think.

So I felt it was incumbent upon me to propose again, with a big romantic gesture.

I walked over to her, where she was sitting on the couch.  I got down on one knee.  I took her hands in mine.  Kissed them.  Looked lovingly into her eyes, and said:

“My love.  Would you like to file your taxes jointly with mine, even through it is fiscally more responsible for each of us to withhold at the higher single rate?”

Nearly 10 years of marriage changes a man.
