SAF Asks: Who Will the ATF Shoot Next?

Fri, 04/12/2024 - 07:00

As already reported on TTAG, the ATF went to Bryan Malinowski’s West Little Rock home last month spoiling for a gunfight, and they got one. Now, a good man is dead – the latest victim of ATF’s overly aggressive tactics and complete disregard for the sanctity of human life.

ATF has yet to comment officially on the March 19 killing, other to claim Malinowski fired first. But Malinowski’s family recently released a statement, which confirms what everyone already knew: It is extremely unlikely that the 53-year-old airport executive knew he was trading gunfire with federal agents.

SIG P320 AGX Pro: Are Metal-Frame Striker-Fire Pistols A Thing?

Thu, 04/11/2024 - 11:00

We have been trained to think that all 9mm striker-firer pistols need to have a polymer frame. The truth is metal frame, 9mm strike-firer pistols have always been a thing. The first—the original 9mm pistol—was the Luger P-08 introduced in 1908. Since I’ve been concealed carrying the most common metal frame striker-firer pistol was the Kahr K and MK steel frames guns. The weight the steel added to the Kahr pistols made shooting them more comfortable.

Maine Red-Flag Bill Advanced For Floor Vote

Thu, 04/11/2024 - 09:00

A legislative committee in Maine has approved the restrictive “red-flag” measure, sending the bill to both the House and Senate floors for an upcoming vote.

Despite testimony by many against the measure, including an impassioned plea to kill the bill by the sister of a victim of last fall’s mass murder in Lewiston, the Legislature’s Judiciary Committee on Tuesday passed LD 2283 on a 6-to-5 vote, with three members absent.

Maine currently has a “yellow-flag” law that was passed with input from pro-gun groups to try to protect the due process rights of gun owners.

The Value of Firearms Training: Keep Your Shooting—and Legal—Skills on Point

Wed, 04/10/2024 - 15:00

Our decision to carry is an important one and should always be regarded with a serious sense of responsibility. I carry and if you’re reading this, there’s a good chance you carry or are considering doing so. Heck, a lot of people carry—more than some of us realize—which is why many of us carry concealed. We’re not interested in trumpeting it to the world.

Over the years, I’ve spent countless hours and days in classes designed to educate law-abiding gun owners on how to properly and safely exercise our constitutional right to bear arms and to carry according to state laws and regulations.

Biden: ‘Absolutely’ More ‘Executive Action’ Gun Control Measures Coming

Wed, 04/10/2024 - 13:00

President Joe Biden sat down with Univision TV for an exclusive interview in his effort to pander to Spanish-speaking voters in America. The interview is all about distracting from Biden and his allies’ support for defunding the police, soft-on-crime policies and a mass invasion of illegals into our nation on his watch.

Univision, clearly part of the establishment media, teed up a softball question for President Puddin’ Brain about gun control. Of course, Biden appealed to fears and emotions.

Parents Receive Lengthy Prison Sentences For Son’s School Shooting

Wed, 04/10/2024 - 09:00

Are the parents of mass murderers criminally responsible for the behavior of their violent, unstable kids?

Apparently, in Michigan they are, as the parents of the 15-year-old student who shot and killed four and injured six others at Oxford High School in a Detroit suburb in 2021 have been handed lengthy prison sentences.

James and Jennifer Crumbley were each found guilty of four counts of involuntary manslaughter back in March. On Tuesday, both were sentenced by Judge Cheryl Matthews to 10 to 15 years in prison for what the court considered their part in the killings.

Malinowski Family Attorneys Release Statement, Videos in BATF Killing of Bryan Malinowski

Tue, 04/09/2024 - 15:30

Local media continue their coverage of the BATF forcible entry raid that ultimately led to the death of Bryan Malinowski, a respected member of the Little Rock, Ark., community. Instead of picking up the Executive Director of the Little Rock Airport at work, the fine folks at F-Troop rolled up in 10 vehicles at oh-dark-thirty as if taking down a man who prayed at an abortion clinic a terrorist mastermind.

Mr. Malinowski came onto the radar of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, Explosives (and really big Fires) because he enjoyed collecting firearms as a hobby.

Pause on Firearms Exports is an Unjustified Attack on the Gun Industry

Tue, 04/09/2024 - 11:30

A new publication by the Commerce Department’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) shows that the stated reason for the 90-day firearm export “pause” – which is well past 160 days – is a nothingburger. It’s a sandwich with no meat but layers of government cheese. And lots of it.

Commerce Department’s BIS published a “Don’t Let this HAPPEN TO YOU!” document that was posted online in March of actual investigations of export control and antiboycott violations.

Open Season on Illegals? Some Opponents of Arizona Bill Think So

Tue, 04/09/2024 - 10:41

A contentious bill proposed in the Arizona legislature looks to expand current Castle Doctrine in the state by allowing landowners a broader level of authority to use lethal force in defense of their property against trespassers. But critics, including one Democratic Latina lawmaker, argue it would essentially declare an “open (hunting) season” on illegal migrants who continue to flood across the U.S. southern border creating havoc for many communities and people, especially those people who live near the border.

Ruger 22 Charger Review

Mon, 04/08/2024 - 15:00

A logical extension of the Ruger 10/22 lineup, the 22 Charger is a reduced-size pistol variant, clearly looking to appeal especially to those interested in a braced version or a stocked SBR version.

Ruger’s continuing success with the 10/22 isn’t very surprising. Since 1964 Ruger has positioned the platform as the go-to option. With a low price point and a robust aftermarket, the 10/22 and its many versions have sold millions.

Overcoming the Fear of Guns Leads to Empowerment Over Fears of Sex Offenders

Mon, 04/08/2024 - 13:00

Roughly a dozen years ago I met a woman Adrienne. Like many young women, she feared guns because she didn’t understand them and had years of mostly negative “education” about them from American media and pop culture. As a stay-at-home housewife, she cared for her three young daughters while her husband worked a half-hour away.

One day in the summer, a creepy man showed up at her rural home riding a bike. Seeing the mom and her three daughters, he rather insistently asked for a glass of water.

Justice Department to Challenge Ruling on Rights of Illegals to Possess Firearms

Mon, 04/08/2024 - 12:05

Politics, and now court rulings, it seems certainly make for strange bedfellows. In a move most conservatives and pro-gun organizations likely agree with, Biden’s Justice Department will challenge a recent court decision affirming the Second Amendment rights of undocumented immigrants. This move escalates a complex debate that to many Americans on both sides of the gun issue defies logic, while spotlighting two cases that have the potential to reshape long-standing federal firearm regulations and even other aspects of immigration law.

Missouri House Attempts to Outlaw Stupid

Mon, 04/08/2024 - 09:29

Not sure if this one slid under the radar or we just missed it, but back in late February, mere weeks after a high-profile shooting during the Super Bowl celebration parade for the Kansas City Chiefs, the Missouri House of Representatives passed a law banning celebratory gunfire into the sky in city limits.

And while we’ve all seen people on television fire guns into the city sky to celebrate or heard it ourselves, it doesn’t take but half a brain to understand what goes up, must come down and those bullets can come down causing damage, injury or even death.

St. Louis Apartment Dweller Shoots Naked Man in Self-Defense

Mon, 04/08/2024 - 07:00

What’s worse than a dude breaking into your home? Could be a naked dude breaking into your home.

Fox 2 now in St. Louis is reporting a resident was forced to shoot a man breaking into his apartment in the middle of the afternoon Friday, April 5.

Police told the news station the suspect “broke through the wall” of the victim’s apartment. He didn’t bust through a window, which might have been easier; he didn’t kick down a door, the modus operandi of gang bangers and SWAT teams alike.

UPDATED: Hot Cop Turned Influencer Shot Down In Lawsuit Against LAPD

Sun, 04/07/2024 - 21:35

(UPDATE: This story, which originally ran yesterday has been updated to include a video at the end, which shows the referenced shooting by Officer McBride of a knife-wielding man. It is shared to provide better context to the insinuations presented by Los Angeles City Attorney Aneta Freeman in an L.A. Times article. See the end of the story for the full video.)

Guns We Love: The Heritage Rancher .22

Sun, 04/07/2024 - 15:58

The concept of a “truck gun” isn’t much different than a saddle scabbard rig more than 100 years ago. It’s basically a utility long gun that’s easily carried and deployed for any number of reasons. One carbine I’ve been carrying around the farm lately is Heritage’s Rough Rider .22.

Rats, snakes and mice, oh my!

Cleaning up hay fields at the end of summer with a rotary mower to remove some noxious weeds like broom sedge before it produces seeds is an every-year event.

Changing Make-Up of State Game Commissions Could Limit Firearms-Related Recreation

Sat, 04/06/2024 - 08:00

Today’s state wildlife agencies are changing. Some critics might call it metastasizing and it could spell trouble ahead for the hunting traditions Americans have enjoyed for centuries.

Colorado’s Parks and Wildlife Commission (CPW) recently confirmed two new appointees to the state agency that oversees and administers hunting and wildlife regulations. The concern is that these new commissioners have anti-hunting activist backgrounds. Both were confirmed by Colorado’s Senate after being nominated by Gov. Jared Polis.
