The Truth About Guns
Michigan State Police Tweet Disparaging CCW Holders Draws Fire
A Michigan State Police Public Information Officer has found himself in the hot seat after a tweet quoting him making disparaging remarks about concealed pistol license holders appeared in recent days. F/Lt. Mike Shaw, a public information officer (PIO), made a statement that reflected very poorly on his agency. The MSP Second District PIO reportedly said:’
Here is another example of a CPL holder not being able to handle their emotions because traffic was slowed due to a crash.
Franklin Armory Drops Big Announcement: Beyond the Binary Trigger to Trinary
Our friends at Franklin Armory hit us up the other day wanting to make sure TTAG visitors were among the first in the gun community to check out their new product announcement. We don’t want to steal their thunder, so, well, just check it out for yourself, especially if you’re a government official…
Transforming the Noveske Ghetto Blaster
Noveske is a well known brand in the American 2A world, having made quite the reputation in the early 2000s for innovation and quality. In 2013 founder John Noveske died, and a huge portion of the surviving Noveske brain trust left the company shortly after. Rumors of a loss of quality have spread online, but is that the case or is it the lionization of an industry great?
In 2017 Noveske stirred a little controversy, releasing the Ghetto Blaster lineup of guns in conjunction with Q (of Honey Badger fame).

Faxon’s Guide to the Rifle Barrel Profile: Choose What’s Right For You
Faxon Firearms, a Cincinnati, Ohio-based manufacturer of rifle and pistol components and complete firearms is working to educate gun owners, specifically AR fans, about the importance of different rifle barrels and the considerations that go into choosing a barrel that is right for you and your build.
Building or tweaking an AR-15 can involve a variety of considerations, some critical, some arguable or some simply cosmetic. Whether dealing with receiver sets, muzzle devices, anti-walk pins or any of a dozen other things, there plenty to consider when customizing or building out.
Safariland Launches New Solis Holster for the GLOCK 17 and 19
If you carry a Glock 17 or 19, and who doesn’t these days, then you might be interested in the new Solis drop from Safariland. Safariland first introduced the Solis last year for subcompact pistols with lights and optics and now they’re giving the same treatment to the Glock 17 and 19.
The Solis is an Outside the Waistband (OWB) holster using Safariland’s ALS (Automatic Locking System) retention system. The ALS is solid and intuitive.
NRA Takes On Pennsylvania “Ghost Gun” Bill
When the Democrat-controlled Pennsylvania House of Representatives passed a measure earlier this week banning so-called “ghost guns,” they drew the ire of the National Rifle Association’s Institute for Legislative Action (NRA-ILA).
“Since taking the Majority in 2023, House Majority Democrats have become a one-trick-pony,” ILA said in an action alert. “They went back to the well this week for more gun control.
“With all the issues facing the state, they are obsessed with election-year politics and the need to score cheap political points with their anti-gun base, which has an insatiable appetite for banning guns.”
The measure, HB 777, passed the House by a very close 104-to-97 vote.

Jesus & Guns: What Might the Lord Have to Say About Gun Ownership?
As today marks Good Friday for the Christians among us (and simply Friday for everyone else as I was reminded by one irate Jewish coworker years ago at NRA when I mistakenly wished her a Happy Easter), I thought despite our diverse audience, it might be interesting to see what the chattering class has to say about Jesus’ stance on firearms ownership and gun laws, since his name is so often invoked.
A basic web search surprisingly turned up quite a bit on the topic.
Kids & Guns: Balancing Readiness and Safety in the Home
Don’t let concerns of violence overshadow the need for creating a truly safe environment in your home.
Anyone who lives or works around firearms should strive to remain just a little bit paranoid about gun safety. The Irish attorney John Philpot Curran originated the quote, “The Price of Freedom is Eternal Vigilance” in 1790. While Curran was then referencing the election of the Lord-Mayor of London, this timeless truism applies to firearms in the Information Age as well.

Mississippi Store Owner Won’t Be Charged for Shooting Knife Wielding Attacker
Police have determined no charges are warranted in a West Jackson, Miss., defensive shooting in which a man chased and attempted to attack the owner of Big Boy’s Convenient Store before the owner fired his handgun, killing the man.
Musa Ali Ghna told WLBT 3, said he has not been the same since the incident and, while he has dealt with violence before, he never had to defend himself to the point where he was forced to take another person’s life.
Tennessee Pro-Gun Proposal Shot Down in Committee
Despite a strong Republican majority in the house that makes it unlikely any of the radical anti-gun bills proposed this year will ever see the light of day, the force of that majority wasn’t enough to get one bill out of committee that would have actually helped gun owners.
A proposal aiming to allow concealed carry permit holders to bring firearms into businesses even with signage stating otherwise was narrowly defeated by the Tennessee Senate Judiciary Committee, as reported by the Nashville Tennessean.

Road Rage Lessons: No Winners in Ohio Incident…Or Ever
An Ohio road rage incident has ended in tragedy for both parties, again, reinforcing the importance to gun owners—or anybody for that matter—to just drive on and avoid conflicts at all costs.
Arguing self-defense in the road rage incident, which resulted in the shooting death of George Jensen, 40, on May 17, 2023, Dacarrei Kinard, 31, was found guilty of voluntary manslaughter and additional firearms-related charges. Kinard was facing murder charges, but the jury, which deliberated for five hours, found him guilty of the lesser, albeit still very serious manslaughter charge.

Virginia And Washington: A Tale Of Two Governors
In the same week that Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin vetoed 30 measures that would have greatly curtailed the rights of lawful Virginians, all the way across the country a much different scenario was unfolding.
On March 27, Democrat Washington Gov. Jay Inslee signed a handful of anti-gun measures that will only hurt lawful citizens and not affect violent criminals.
Perhaps the worst measure, HB 2118, places a number of expensive, punitive requirements on Washington firearms retailers and will likely run many of them out of business.

What Was the Best Combat Handgun of World War 2?
Rivers of ink have been spilt over that simple query: what was the best combat handgun used in WW2? With virtually the entire planet aflame, each combatant country threw their everything into military production. The end result influences the tactical landscape to this day. So, let’s take a look at what each country did that is notable in the realm of handgun development during the big one.

I think we can all agree that they sucked the most.

The Thin Red Line: Virginia Gov. Youngkin Vetoes Onslaught of Anti-Gun Bills
With Virginia citizen’s facing an onslaught of anti-gun bills from the state’s Democat-led General Assembly, Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin vetoed as many as 30 anti-gun bills designed to restrict the gun rights of law-abiding people and misguidedly empower criminals. The 30 proposed bills had sparked considerable debate across the state. While it was believed Youngkin would do exactly as he did—veto most of the bills and recommend amendments to others—he had remained publicly vague about what action he would take leading up to the vetoes.
2A Heroes: Virginia AG Clarifies CHP Renewal Confusion
The Virginia Citizens Defense League (VCDL) sent out a news alert the other day reporting that the state’s Attorney General Jason Miyares had just released an important formal opinion dealing with CHP renewals.
It appears since changes in the process took place in 2020, in which “in person” language was added to the statute, some judges in Virginia were misreading the law and misconstruing it to believe it now required a person renewing a concealed handgun permit (CHP) had to provide proof, again, that they had “in-person” training in order to get their permit renewed.

WHEN ‘SORRY’ DOESN’T CUT IT: Mom Says Her Stabby 12-Year-Old Son Is ‘Just a Boy’
Bad people with evil in their hearts pick the time and place of their attacks. We all know that the only thing that stops bad people (and lunatics) with evil in their hearts is a good person with a gun. Which is why prudent and responsible gun owners should carry everyday.
In a “should have been a defensive gun use” incident in Houston, a 12-year-old with near-zero self-control stabbed a 59-year-old woman. What possessed this young man to grab a knife following an argument with an adult and return to stab her?
FPC Files Response Brief In Pistol Brace Lawsuit
The battle over the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) rule redefining braced pistols as “short-barreled rifles” placing them under the National Firearms Act continues in the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals.
Most recently, the Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) and FPC Action Foundation (FPCAF) filed a response brief late last week with the circuit court in the case Mock v. Garland, which challenges the constitutionality of the pistol brace rule.
“As noted, there is no harm to ATF from pausing enforcement of the Rule and maintaining the status quo,” the brief states.

DC Shocker: Woman Acquitted of Murder, Other Charges After Self-Defense Claim
In a verdict that is more notable for where it occurred—Washington, DC—more so than why it occurred—a justifiable self-defense claim, Tierra Posey, a 24-year-old woman, was acquitted of all charges related to fatally shooting another woman during a fight in 2020. The acquittal came after a week-long trial in DC Superior Court, as reported by DC Witness.
The case centered around the events of January 6, 2020, at a gas station on the 3700 block of Minnesota Avenue, NE, Washington, DC, where 21-year-old Tia Carey was fatally shot.
Pittsburgh Residents Have One More Reason Why They Really Should Consider Owning a Gun
As if current worries by many citizens about crime aren’t already high enough, even as overall crime statistics show a reduction in crime since the criminal spikes as a result of the post-George Floyd Defund the Police and No Cash Bail movements, along with the BLM riots, residents in Pittsburgh have more to worry about.
Call 911 and depending on the time of night or how bad your situation actually is, nobody may be coming to the rescue.
Guns We Love: The Kriss Vector Review
The original Kriss Vector hit the market around 2009, giving a tantalizing vision of what the future held. A unique bold travel design promised to drain all the recoil from the subgun, giving controllable full auto in a small package. I’ve had this specific model for a couple years now, long enough that subsequent court issues surrounding pistol braces have scared off many manufacturers from offering braced variants. So, consider as you read, that while my version is braced, that’s the only real difference between this and the other versions still produced.
