Whitetails: Scrapes vs. Rubs
There has never been a hotter topic about deer hunting than whether it is better to hunt scrapes or hunt rub lines. Anyone who has killed a respectable buck near a fresh rub or rub line is likely to prefer and choose hunting rubs. Likewise, anyone who has killed a big buck near or on a scrape is likely to choose hunting scrapes.
Video: How to Mount a Rifle Scope
There is a difference between properly mounting a rifle scope to your long gun and properly mounting a scope for the shooter. While one ensures the optic is secure, the other adds the additional factor of ensuring the shooter may obtain a comfortable, repeatable mount for increased accuracy. 21 State AGs Argue 4th Circuit Ban on Modern Sporting Rifles Unconstitutional
Twenty-one state Attorneys General have filed a joint amici curiae, or “friends of the court,” brief supporting the petitioning of the U.S. Supreme Court by plaintiffs, including the National Shooting Sports Foundation, to take up Kolbe v. Hogan, the case in which the 4th Circuit Court of Appeals decided Maryland could ban semi-automatic modern sporting rifles on grounds they are “like” firearms in use by the military.
ScentLok: Seven Steps to Scent Control
Since the dawn of time, hunters have battled the noses of the game they pursued. Several products have come to the hunter's aid, but few with the results enjoyed by ScentLok. ScentLok brought the first activated carbon hunting apparel to market 25 years ago. In the years since, helping big game hunters get closer to their quarry by dramatically reducing their odor signature—the ScentLok Advantage—has become the driving force behind the ScentLok brand.

Glock Announces the New G17 Gen5 and G19 Gen5 Pistols
Glock's design has proven its worth—regardless of whether you are a Glock fanboy or a hater. The changes to the design through the various generations are not overtly obvious to eye, which leads some to believe all Glocks are all the same; a one trick pony. Nothing could be further from the truth. Sure, the basic design has been proven, some would go so far as to say perfected.
M1 Carbine: The Classic Warhorse (Part II)
Part two of this three part series focuses on the reputation of the M1 Carbine from returning GIs, the wave of popularity generated by the $24 rifles offered through the NRA and DCM in the early '60s, and Hollywood's contribution—plus a whole lot more!
Range Report: Ruger SR1911 10mm
Ruger’s latest SR1911 is a bold step. The 10mm auto cartridge is a powerful number that gives handgunners a viable cartridge for long-range use and hunting of medium-sized game. The SR1911 differs considerably from previous pistols and may arguably be one of the best 10mm 1911 handguns ever built.

3 Tips for Low-Impact Deer Scouting
Many successful deer hunters spend more time scouting than hunting. And for the whitetail elite, scouting is a year-‘round proposition. But late summer seems to be the time when most everyday deer hunters get serious. Bow season is right around the corner, and they’re anxious to pattern deer for fast success once the opener arrives. Consequently, they ramp up their scouting activities in the field. However, human encroachment in the whitetail’s world is a complex thing.

D.C. Appeals Court Strikes Down ‘Good Reason’ Licensing Scheme
“Unconstitutional” is what a federal appeals court has ruled on the D.C. gun law that says people must show “good reason” to have concealed handgun permits. The Second Amendment is sufficient reason itself to issue permits, according to the 2-1 ruling released Tuesday July 25, by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit.
