Video: NSSF Hosts Media for Suppressor Demonstration

Tue, 05/30/2017 - 18:31
Perhaps not on the forefront of some gun owners’ minds these days, but the fight for the Second Amendment is a daily struggle. The challenge is not to convince gun owners—at least in most situations. Instead, the challenge is to educate the non gun owner. Recently, the NSSF hosted an event to introduce the non-shooting media to suppressors.

Memorial Day — Thank a Gold Star Family

Mon, 05/29/2017 - 10:04
All gave some, and some gave all. A lot has been made of “whom” you should thank on Memorial Day. Personally, I have no problem thanking a veteran 366 days a year. Even if it only comes once every four years during a leap year, I do not want to miss a day. That being said, I do not confuse Memorial Day with Veteran's Day.

Judicial Watch, the Washington, DC-based watchdog group, has filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) seeking records of communications inside the agency when it was considering reclassifying certain types of AR-15 ammunition as armor-piercing—and effectively banning it from civilian use.

Fri, 05/26/2017 - 21:35
For those considering a shotgun, there is no shortage of arguments in your favor. Since its invention, the shotgun has served a defensive and offensive role in law enforcement, military duty, personal defense, and hunting. It is truly a multipurpose weapon. In the hands of a seasoned shotgunner, it offers a level of precision whether breaking clays or on the tactical shotgun course. However, in the home it can be the difference between life and death.

The All-Around Soviet Rifle — The SKS

Wed, 05/17/2017 - 22:30
Not long ago conversation around the fireplace drifted toward the subject of all-around rifles. I like these moments because my grandson is old enough to shoot, and he is interested in firearms but hasn’t heard it all before. I enjoy a number of interesting rifles including the M1A1 and the AR-15. A certain place in my heart belongs to the Winchester 1895. But if you are on a strict budget but need an all around pest, deer, hog and defense rifle it is difficult to beat the SKS rifle.

Lessons From Bloomberg—the Face of Gun Control—Who Admits He Deceives

Tue, 05/16/2017 - 11:25
They say that money makes the world go round. While that may be hard to prove, the fact of simply having a mass fortune and a political agenda can yield results or be a political threat. The politics of where you stand on the issue determines which side of the fence you'll sit. For supporters of the Second Amendment, it is guaranteed that we will be on the opposite side of the fence as Michael Bloomberg. However, there are lessons to be learned by Bloomberg's words.

The Second Amendment Foundation, joined by several other groups and individuals, has filed a lawsuit in federal district court in California, challenging that state's law prohibiting the possession, use, or acquisition of so-called "large-capacity magazines," calling the ban "hopelessly vague and ambiguous." This case could have repercussions on a similar magazine ban in Colorado.

Wed, 05/10/2017 - 21:47
One associate professor at the University of Kansas has resigned because he feels the policy of allowing students to carry a concealed firearm will harm higher education. “If you start putting more students with guns in the mix, it's not going to improve public safety, and I can guarantee you it will degrade public education,” said Dorman. However, our author has few things to say as well, but we want you to read the story and join the debate.

I am new to lever action rimfire rifles, having grown up with auto-loading 22 rifles like the Mossberg 702 and the Ruger 10/22. However, I was eager to review my Henry Golden Boy Silver the moment I picked it up at my local dealer, both as a firearm and from a perspective of someone completely new to the platform.
