Hey Bruce Rauner: Your huntin’ dog doesn’t hunt gun rights!
Billionaire Bruce Rauner has earned himself the nickname “Baron Von Carhartt” for wearing working man’s jackets in many of his commercials, trying to appeal to regular Joes in Illinois.
Illinois Republican gubernatorial nominee and multi-billionaire Bruce Rauner has been Captain Invisible on gun rights.
He plays the role of a conservative, of sorts, in his campaign thus far. To tout his 2nd Amendment credentials, he loves to brag on his hunting dog, as though gun owners are low-information voters who will clap on cue because some guy says he’s got a good “huntin’” dog.
A mental health professional responds to our “Loose lips can cost you your gun rights” story
This was written by a friend of ours who has been in the mental health field for upwards of twenty years now. It’s in response to our article on “Loose lips can cost you your gun rights”.

The mental health reporting requirements have been in practice in both IN and MI and disclosure of current/past treatment has been required at the time of application in both states. MI only wants to know about CURRENT treatment and IN wants to know about all history of treatment (entire lifetime) –except if it dealt with marital counseling or alcohol/drug abuse. Yes, you read that right: Get an antidepressant 10 years ago in IN and the Indiana State Police wants you to sign a release so they can look over your health records; but, talk to a counselor about smoking pot an hour ago and that is NOT reportable in IN.
That said, we health care practitioners are very careful about reporting anyone as
Armalite’s “David” ad “offends” Italian government. Tough.
The Italian government just gave Armalite a ton of free publicity with their creation of a hullabaloo over a gun advert.
Armalite photoshopped one of their rifles into the arms of the classic “David” statue from Italy.
The Italian government claims to own the rights to the statue’s likeness and is “offended” by Armalite’s creativity with an image of a public statue.
Apparently the Italians don’t have enough real problems in their country to deal with – like unemployment, deficit government spending, and the list goes on and one.

Illinois Gov. Quinn’s violence prevention money: 7% of one neighborhood’s went directly to single political crony
Dorothy Brown’s husband Benton Cook gives her a big, fat kiss. This wasn’t the kiss he gave her when he received a big payday courtesy of Governor Pat Quinn. He should have kissed the taxpayers of Illinois instead. After all, we’re the ones who got… uh, “taken to the cleaners” on the deal.
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn’s solution to inner-city violent crime doesn’t involve empowering crime-plagued local residents with the tools they can use to defend their homes and protect their families.
No sir.
Instead, our governor finds $54.5 million in our bankrupt state a month before the last gubernatorial election as part of a crime-prevention “Neighborhood Recovery Initiative“, and he gifts it in
HAPPY MONDAY! Bad guys fare poorly against Armed Americans
Do you have the Monday Morning blues?
We can help.
We’ve got some stories that will cheer you right up!
First up: an 81-year-old fella who a neighbor says, “is the kind of guy you don’t mess with”.It’s Palm Beach Gardens, FL and 81-year-old Rosko Rock has rented a room in his house out to a younger woman. She’s there with a female friend of hers when the renter’s boyfriend – who has violent tendencies.
Dale Hendrix Reese, 39, was a Billy Badass with the two women after slashing the tire on the girlfriend’s car.
Enter Rosko, who does the right thing by telling Reese to behave or leave. The enraged boyfriend advances on the old man who explains things to Mr. Reese in a way he has never had them ‘splained to before.
The police say they don’t expect Mr. Reese to survive. That’s such a shame.
DELICIOUS IRONY: Gun guys permeate audience of anti-gun conference on how to “disrupt the gun lobby”
Shannon Watts, the head Mom Demanding Action (someone point her to the nearest singles bar, will ya?) and her merry band of paid gun control shills, held a conference this past weekend on how to disrupt the “gun lobby”.
It wasn’t well attended.
The delicious irony?
Many of those in attendance were grassroots gun rights activists on the down-low.
One of which even got his picture snapped with little Miss Watts… while he was packing heat.
Tuesday evening, Rantoul, IL: Former Iranian hostage speaks
Mr. Paul Lewis was a young Marine less than a full day in Iran when the Iranians stormed the US Embassy in Tehran when another feckless U.S. President was at the helm… Jimmy Carter.
444 days later, Mr. Lewis was released.
He’ll tell his story Tuesday evening in Rantoul at the monthly Guns Save Life meeting.
Join 200-300 of your closest friends (or maybe even a few more) to hear history come to life once again as it so often does at GSL meeting.
Dinner and conversation starts at 5:30 and the meeting business begins at 7pm.
Don’t miss it!
The meeting will be held at the Linden in Rantoul, 220 Wheat Street.
UPDATE: Almost forgot: We’re giving away a Glock 42. See it, feel it, win it! See you Tuesday night!EPIC FAIL: Illinois governor’s “Hire-a-Thug” program to reduce violent crime
Jermalle Brown (pictured) and Douglas Bufford were gang members hired to help combat violence on the South Side. In July 2012, they allegedly broke into a Grand Crossing home with one other man and announced a robbery. Bufford was fatally shot in the back of the head, and Brown and an associate face murder charges tied to the shooting. Photo and caption Sun-Times.
Chicago isn’t safe.
We’ve said that over and over.
And there’s more news detailing just how unsafe Chicago is and how Illinois Democrat Governor Pat Quinn seems to be adding gasoline to the fire instead of helping to solve Chicago’s violent crime problem.
A picture worth a million words
One of our members tipped me off to a post by GSL’s Jim Sharp at AR-15.com. I made it into a picture.
GIBLIN: Dry firing
by Tim Giblin
of Train Illinois
Dry firing is truly a necessity. Very few people have a location where they can shoot near their home anymore. With a twenty-minute-or-greater commute to the range becoming more common, most people simply don’t have the time to shoot regularly. Coupled with a true scarcity in .22s created by so many first-time shooters and with soaring ammo prices, range trips are quickly becoming a rare luxury for most. Making the most of our range trips starts with practicing at home. So, in this article, I’m going to talk about about dry firing. It has some serious advantages, and some very dangerous risks.
Dry firing is a dangerous activity. It promotes da
eBay won’t allow legitimate gun sales, but stolen phone sales are A-OK
It’s interesting that eBay won’t allow legitimate gun sales at their online “auction” house, but they seem to have no problem with people selling stolen smart phones.
Judging by the number of stolen cell phones offered for sale on eBay, it’s a dumping ground for people to offload their stolen phones.
Go over to eBay and search for “Bad ESN”. Here, we’ll do it for you. Here’s the link.
How do we know “Bad ESN” phones are stolen?
Well, there’s only one reason a phone has a “bad esn” and that’s because it’s been blacklisted by a carrier as “lost” or stolen.
Check out more on this from Karl Denninger’s The Market Ticker.

Mom holds statutory rapist for police with her gun
Mom finds a strange man in her home in the middle of the night.
She thinks he’s a burglar until the 15-year-old daughter says it’s her “boyfriend” that she met via social media.
Mom calls the police and holds the 23-year-old so-called “boyfriend” for police – at gunpoint until five-oh arrived. Police then promptly arrest him for their equivalent of statutory rape.

Eighth annual Illinois Gun Owners Lobby Day a success
Thousands of Prairie State gun owners braved very cold temperatures and wind-chills in Springfield to march seven blocks to the Illinois State Capitol building to promote gun rights and self-defense on Wednesday, March 5th.
It was the eighth annual IGOLD event, sponsored by the Illinois State Rifle Association, in conjunction with IllinoisCarry.com, Guns Save Life, the Sangamon County Rifle Association and the McHenry County Right to Carry Association. In a nation where gun control advocates cannot even turn out more than a dozen agitators to promote civilian disarmament, the IGOLD rally is a prime example of what genuine grassroots activism is all about.
Participants met at the Prairie Capital Convention Center (posted “No Guns” by the way), where speakers charged up the audience, and gave them instructions for successful participation.
Best estimates put the crowd this year at roughly 2,000, down sharply from last year. It was still two orders of magnitude better than our
How about a national discussion on black violence?
Weerd at Weer’d World would like to have a national discussion, but not necessarily completely about guns.
Instead, he’s asking for a discussion regarding the disproportionate – massively disproportionate – representation of blacks in crime stats.
There seems to be a cultural problem among black families in America. Perhaps there’s too much dead-end “hip hop” / “gangster” culture, or perhaps it’s too many fatherless families or any number of a host of issues.
Blaming guns for the violence committed by these young men is not going to make this problem go away.
Anyway, here is a clip from Weerd Beard’s post:
Still I’d like to step into dangerous waters for a second. The antis keep crowing that we need a “National Discussion on Guns”. Well we had that over a decade ago, and people decided that guns were something we should embrace, not shun. The public safety numbers show this was 100% the correct move, even if you don’t believe in a natural right to defensive arms.
Still there is something we need to have a national discussion on:
Americans embrace guns!
You can deny reality, but that doesn’t make it true any more than it does for a whining three-year-old’s temper tantrum.
Glenn Reynolds nails it in his USA Today column.
“Americans Embrace Guns.”This past weekend, the Tennessee Law Review held a symposium on “New Frontiers in the Second Amendment.” It was a follow-up, of sorts, to a
Bigots and idiots self-identify on Facebook
Facebook offers a chance for people to self-identify as idiots and bigots.
Witness these comments on the Chicago Tribune’s Facebook page regarding their story about Illinois mailing the first batch of carry licenses.
Dan Hensley Everyone PLEASE watch what you do around others in public! The slightest thing that could be perceived as a threat will be enough justification for you to end up dead under this new concealed carry law! PLEASE watch your posture, watch the way you walk, the way you talk, the clothes you wear (that means hoodies, too
WICD story on CCW license arrival
First, a shout out to Scott Bowyer for letting me know Channel 15 was looking for a license holder for the story.
Channel 15, WICD Champaign, was looking for a CCW licensee today to do a story on “what’s changed” since the license arrived. Heather Good from the station met me at an undisclosed secret bunker under an nondescript brick and steel building and did a short interview with me.
The local station led off their 6p news with the story.
