CHICAGO ISN’T SAFE: Shortage of ambulances, growing response times
Second City Cop turns us on to a story in Chicago that is just another reason not to travel to Chicago – home of Illinois strictest gun control laws and highest violent crime. No correlation there between crime and gun control, of course. No. Huh-uh.
It’s not directly gun related, however, if you have a health emergency in Chicago while traveling there on business or pleasure, the advanced life support ambulance services you presently enjoy in your hometown may not be available in Chicago… and even if one might be available, you’re going to wait longer for it to arrive in America’s second-largest city.
To make matters worse, instead of fixing the problem, the Chicago of Chicago is telling dispatchers and employees to avoid mentioning the unavailability of ALS-equipped ambulances in their radio communications.
It’s kind of like crime un
Illinois Association of Realtors looking to cut their own throats
The Illinois Association of Realtors is treading on some very thin ice with their recommendations on posting “NO GUNS” signage.
As conscientious gun owners, it will be up to us to let those bigots who oppose our right to self-defense feel the pinch of lost business and lost profits for their anti-gun prejudices.
From the IAR newsletter. Our thoughts in red. Bold emphasis added.
Q: What do I need to be concerned about with regard to the new Illinois concealed carry law as it relates to my real estate brokerage practice?
A: That is a good question. You will need to know what your own office policy is and whether your sponsoring brokerage company allows concealed carry within your office. If so, the person who possesses a valid conce
Like a good neighbor, a gun owner is there: CCW holder stops felonious assault in MI
From Detroit Free Press:
Roseville Police Chief James Berlin said that Silva claimed he is addicted to heroin, but it is not believed he was on the drug at the time of the assault.
Berlin said Silva began to fight with store loss prevention officers in the parking lot when they tried to apprehend him for stuffing a $179 battery-powered drill under his coat. Silva pulled a concealed syringe from his jacket and used it as a weapon, swinging it around in a slashing motion, police said.
They said he stabbed one of the officers several times with the contaminated needle. Berlin said the victim had more than five puncture wounds on the top of his hand.

ARMED AMERICAN GOODNESS: Detroit thugs break in but they don’t break out
A pair of Detroit thugs ran headlong into hot lead while committing a home invasion in the Motor City.
The homeowner, a city employee, used deadly force to thwart their attack and truncated their careers as thugs.
It’s just another in a long list of Detroit residents arming themselves to defend their homes and families against the brazen inner-city thugs.
DETROIT (WXYZ) - Detroit Police tell 7 Action News a homeowner has shot and killed two suspected home invaders who were reportedly attempting to rob him.
Police are on the scene located on Dexter on Detroit’s west side.
The man who lives in the home, came running out of the house and flagged down EMS. He told EMS workers that he needed help saying “I shot 2 guys trying to break into my home.”
The homeowner was taken to the police station for
Democrat Keith Ellison wishes Democrats would eliminate the 2nd Amendment
America’s only Muslim in Congress, Democrat Keith Ellison, said last weekend that he really wished his party would come out to eliminate the Second Amendment.
How American, right? Maybe he wants to eliminate professional football and baseball as well?
And will apple pie be safe after that?
(Townhall) - During an appearance over the weekend on HBO’s Real Time with Bill Maher, Minnesota Rep. Keith Ellison said he wishes Democrats would come out in opposition to the Second Amendment. Before the admission, Ellison listed off a number of “common sense” ways we can reduce “gun violence,” which is typical of anti-gun advocates. He also stated, “I don’t think you have to got eliminate ownership of all guns in order to get some common sense gun rules,&
OUTSTANDING: Middle schoolers go to shooting range for school field trip
Do you recall any less than stellar school field trips from your childhood? If you’re like many, you’ve probably forgotten about the ones that were lackluster.
Kids in Pueblo County probably won’t forget about their field trip last week: A trip to a shooting range.
(Enter the collective sound of Moms Demand Action having kittens about now, and the Coalition to Ban Gun Ownership / Violence feigned indignation.)
Project Appleseed volunteers helped make it happen and kudos to them for a fantastic endeavor!
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. (KRDO) – Middle school students moved their lesson from the classroom to the shooting range.
It wasn’t your typical field trip. A group of students in Pueblo County was firing live ammo and learning about gun safety.
“I’m very excited, today we’re going to come out here on the gun range and
THE “BEST” AND THE “BRIGHTEST”: R.I. State Senator confronted on gun rights: “Go f*** yourself.”
Classy.
Rhode Island State Senator Josh Miller gets confronted in the halls of the Rhode Island statehouse by a man reminding him of the Second Amendment.
Miller’s response?
Go **** yourself.
How nice.
Here’s some background:
(ABC6) – Some Rhode Island lawmakers…are again taking aim at gun control. No fewer that nine bills are now being considered – from banning assault style weapons; to boosting sales tax on ammunition; and, limiting gun clips to no more than ten rounds.
“People do have the right to own a gun. I believe in that. But I think there’s also a new type of responsibility that has to come with controlling a gun and the guns that go out into the street,” said State Rep. Joe Almeida (D) Providence, who sponsored three of the bills.
Gun owner’s rights advocates are already firing back. “We’re
Moms Demand Action admit to prostitution at long last
Don’t hold it against them.
The girls have gotta earn a living somehow.
“Moms” Demand Action, the group headed up by Shannon Watts (the professional Democrat political operative) have finally and officially publicly prostituted themselves to the Billionaire (former mayor) Michael Bloomberg.
Bob Owens at Bearing Arms sums it up nicely and puts a bow on it:
NC Gun Blog’s Sean Sorrentino notes that Mom’s Demand has now even dropped the pretense of being anything other than “beards” for Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns:
Take one billionaire former New York City mayor with a Napoleon complex, dress him in drag, and what do you get? “Moms” Demand Action for Gunsense in America. We’ve already been told that

You should read this.
It’s at American Handgunner.
“Unlikely Allies” is the title.
Here’s an excerpt:
“They told us capitalism was wrong because lots of power could be held by a relatively small group,” Purple-Stripe explained. “But it’s clear they want to replace it with a system where another even smaller group has absolute power, with the brute force of the state to enforce it. Not happening; I’ll die first. That’s why it’s important for them to disarm us. And that’s why we have these guns. The founding fathers warned us.” She shook her curls. “Strange, isn’t it, I had to leave college to get an education?”
They prize self-reliance; they’re vehemently opposed to Nanny-State social programs, mass government surveillance and cyber-snooping. They generally support the police, but not a police state. They work, often at men
CHICAGO ISN’T SAFE: Retired CPD sergeant dies of home invasion wounds
Retired after almost 40 years of serving Chicago.
And a pair of depraved thugs broke into his house and shot him in the neck *after* he told them where the safe was.
If a retired Chicago cop isn’t safe in his home in Chicago – the home of the state’s strictest gun control laws, do you think you will be safe?
Do you want to take that chance?
Chicago (Sun-Times) – A retired Chicago police sergeant who was shot in the neck during a home invasion robbery earlier this month has died, his wife said Monday.
“He was a wonderful father and husband,” said Mary Ann Brown of her husband, Elmer Brown. He was 73.
Mr. Brown — a policeman for 38 years who was legally blind and suffered from diabetes — died early Monday at Advocate Christ Medical Center, Mary Ann Brown said.
Illinois’ eavesdropping law struck down
It’s now completely legal to record your local police officers.
In fact, it may be completely legal to record any conversation now that Illinois Draconian eavesdropping law was struck down last week by the Illinois Supreme Court.
We didn’t think this was all that significant, but our trusted advisers and associates corrected us.
State Supreme Court strikes down eavesdropping law
(Chicago Tribune) – Hours after the Illinois Supreme Court struck down the state’s eavesdropping statute on Thursday, Annabel Melongo reflected on the 20 months she spent locked up in the Cook County Jail under the now-unconstitutional law.
Melongo said she had been ordered held on a six-figure bond typically given repeat or vi

Denial.
It isn’t just a river in Egypt.
It would seem as though the first batch of denial letters have gone out from the Illinois State Police.
The letters (of which we’ve now seen two) go like this:
“In reviewing your application for a Concealed Carry License, the Illinois State Police received an objection to your eligibility from a law enforcement agency. Pursuant to 430 ILCS 15(a), the ojection has been submitted to the Concealed Carry Licensing Review Board. The Board has notified the Department that it has determined by a preponderance of the evidence that you pose a danger to yourself or others / are a threat to public safety.
Therefore, the Board has affirmed the objection and determined that you are not eligible for a Concealed Carry License. Your application for a Concealed Carry License is hereby denied. You may appeal the decision of the Board by petitioning in writing the circuit court in the county of your residence fo
SPRINGFIELD, IL: Public school revisionism of 2nd Amendment
Illinois Gun Owners Rights scored a public relations coup with the revelation of what’s being taught at Grant Middle School in Springfield, IL.
This hits home to me because I lived not too far from this school during the summers while I was in college.
What they are teaching?
The Second Amendment: “This amendment states that people have the right to certain weapons, providing that they register them and they have not been in prison.”
The story has gone national, much to the embarrassment of the local school.

HAMMER TIME: Video. Hammer-wielding lunatic attacks police
Officer Hector Marquez shot and killed 37-year-old Andy Snider, who was armed with a hammer, after officers responded to an assault call at the 7-Eleven on University and Central, according to police. Police officers chased Snider into an alley before he confronted them with the 10-inch claw hammer. Officers shot the suspect with a bean bag shotgun before shooting him at least once with live ammunition when he was a few feet away. Police have not said exactly how many shots were fired, or how many times the man was hit. Police said a sergeant was supervising the call, but the supervisor was not on scene. The police were called by a 7-Eleven clerk after Snider was arguing with another man. Snider, a convicted felon, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead. (Courtesy APD)

BREAKING: Hawaii now shall-issue
Thanks to the US Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals, Hawaii is now shall-issue.
In light of our holding in Peruta, the district court made an error of law when it concluded that the Hawaii statues did not implicate protected Second Amendment activity. Accordingly, we vacate the district court’s decision denying Baker’s motion for a preliminary injunction and remand for further proceedings consistent with Peruta.
Let’s see how long it will be before licenses are issued.
I’m predicting a lot of games just as in California, with application “appointments” scheduled for 2015 and 2016.
It’s incredible news.

Californians may be inured to rolling blackouts that cut off their power for hours at a time, but imagine an outage that darkens the entire country — for more than a year. That nightmare scenario could happen if just a handful of crucial, heavy-duty electrical transformers are taken down, according to a confidential federal report disclosed last week by the Wall Street Journal. Federal regulators and the utilities’ trade association were outraged that the report was leaked, but the real outrage is that this vulnerability persists even though policymakers and industry executives have known about it for years.
The transformers at issue raise the voltage of the power generated so it can be transmitted across long distances. The size of overfed dumpsters, they are custom fitted into arrays in utility substations, often industrial or remote area
