Holy Orwell, Batman: Maryland Gun-Grabbers Want to Mandate RFID Tags to Track Firearms in Real Time

Fri, 02/10/2023 - 10:00

Someone needs to figure out what in the wide world of dystopian Buck Rogers in the 25th Century sci-fi fantasy world is going on in Maryland’s legislature. Antigun lawmakers there are advancing legislation that would require firearm manufacturers to attach RFID trackers to each and every firearm so government officials could track their whereabouts at all times.

Not only is this a clear invasion of privacy rights and Constitutional protections against illegal search-and-seizure, this is an idea that’s not even technologically possible.

SB Tactical, in conjunction with the Firearms Regulatory Accountability Coalition (FRAC), B&T USA, Rick Cicero, and a massive coalition of states, has filed a lawsuit against the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) challenging the legality of a federal rule that reverses a decade of relied upon agency precedent and retroactively bans or forces the registration of millions of pistols equipped with stabilizing braces, contrary to federal statutes enacted by Congress.

Classic Gun Review: Marlin Model 39 .22 Lever Action Rifle

Thu, 02/09/2023 - 16:00

By Chris Dumm

The Marlin Model 39 claimed to be the oldest continually-produced cartridge rifle in history.  Its parent design was born during the unexceptional presidency of Benjamin Harrison, whose bust never even made it onto the Mount Rushmore Commemorative Paperweight.  Unlike that former Commander-In-Chief, this 19th Century Fox was blessed with what sales and marketing types like to call ‘legs.’ Legs so long, in fact, that it’s still still a perennial favorite here in the 21st Century.

Op-Ed: It’s a Trap! Do Not Take the ATF Up On the ‘Free’ SBR Pistol Brace Registration Scam

Thu, 02/09/2023 - 14:00

[ED: This op-ed was written by a prominent individual who is intimately involved in the firearms community and wishes to remain anonymous.]

ATF published their new pistol brace rules in the Federal Register on January 31st, kicking off the 120-day grace period for owners of firearms equipped with a pistol brace to register them as SBRs without having to pay the $200 tax that has existed under the NFA since 1934.

Things That Don’t Suck: We the People Independence Leather Gun Belt

Thu, 02/09/2023 - 12:00

I’ve recently re-learned a lesson I never should have forgotten. For some reason, I’d gotten into the bad habit of carrying every day with a regular leather belt. You know the kind. Just a thin strip of leather that looks fine, but is far from ideal when it comes to comfortably supporting your everyday carry gun and holster.

I’m not really sure how or why I devolved into that bad habit, but I’m glad that’s now, once again, in the past.

One Thing Biden Didn’t Mention During the SOTU – Cratering Support for Gun Control

Thu, 02/09/2023 - 08:00

By Larry Keane

Those tuning in to watch President Biden’s State of the Union address saw and heard a few things when he entered the U.S. House of Representatives to address Congress and the nation. There is a new Speaker of the House – Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.). He was seated next to Vice President Kamala Harris, a visual reminder of our divided government. Military generals and Supreme Court Justices were in attendance, along with Members of Congress and Senators.

Don’t Mess With an Old Guy: 80-Year-Old Man Fights and Shoots a Pair of Younger Home Invaders

Wed, 02/08/2023 - 14:00

Sorry snowflakes, there are no “safe spaces” in Chicago. For example, in a decent neighborhood just east of O’Hare International Airport, an 80-year-old man who was recovering from recent surgery came face-to-face with a home invasion team this past week. After the initial attack, the homeowner retreated to his bedroom, grabbed his gun and began meting out some ballistic dissuasion.

His first shot cheated Darwin by grazing the head of the female half of the home invasion dynamic duo, Tabitha Hemphill.

Montana Senator’s Twitter Account Suspended Because of a Hunting Avatar Pic

Tue, 02/07/2023 - 10:30

Twitter carries videos of the Kyle Rittenhouse defensive shooting. If porn is your thing, Twitter will accomodate you (that link is definitely NSFW). And if you want to see five cops beat Tyre Nichols to death, Twitter has that video, too.

You know what’s apparently over the line as far as Elon Musk’s social media platform is concerned? Hunting photos. We’re not talking bloody images of field dressing or wound channel pics, either.

Media Reports Ignore Facts in Their Anti-Lead Ammunition ‘Journalism’

Tue, 02/07/2023 - 10:00

Local news outlets often choose to ignore readily-available data and instead “report” on a topic using only one-sided activist talking points. It’s a disservice to viewers and leads to bad policy.

Case in point is the push to enact bans on traditional lead-based ammunition that have become increasingly popular despite clear science showing they are harmful to conservation and wildlife management efforts.

California is ground zero.

Ninety-Nine Percent Bias

A particularly egregious perpetrator of this practice is John FitzRandolph, a freelance writer for the San Luis Obispo Tribune.

Mon, 02/06/2023 - 16:00

Americans generally love their pets, especially man’s best friend. While dogs tend to protect their owners, their owners usually reciprocate the feelings. But when an “erratic” aggressor in Yakima, Washington threatened a dog-owning concealed carry licensee along with his child recently…well, you don’t need a Ouija board to see where things headed.

A man shot another man who was behaving erratically on Sunday afternoon at the Randall dog park in Yakima. Police said the suspect was protecting himself and his son.

Federal District Judge Rules Removing Gun Rights for Using Marijuana is Unconstitutional

Mon, 02/06/2023 - 10:00

US District Judge Patrick Wyrick has just made millions of marijuana users — particularly those in states where cannabis use has been legalized — very happy…at least those in the Tenth Circuit. The federal government lists marijuana as a Schedule 1 controlled substance. If you use it you stand to lose your gun rights. That’s why the ATF’s form 4473 background check form asks about it and now warns those who live in states where it’s been legalized.

Why People (Still) Argue About 9mm vs .45 ACP

Sun, 02/05/2023 - 16:00

One of gun folks’ favorite debates is the ever-popular 9mm vs. .45 ACP. The 10mm vs. basically anything else comes close. Then there’s .30-06 vs. those who are wrong. Why, some newbies may wonder, is there such an intense and long-standing argument over the merits of 9mm compared to .45 ACP?

What’s been relatively common knowledge for some time now is that it’s not really a binary choice. The typical gun owner won’t see much difference in accuracy or performance in any real world application.
