Louisville Mayor Will Have the Firing Pins Removed From All Confiscated Guns

Mon, 02/20/2023 - 08:00

[Louisville Mayor Craig] Greenberg made it clear his new policy is just a start, saying it’s the best the city can do right now as it relates to seized gun policy — while still abiding by state law.

“Basically, they’re just creating a lot of busy work for law enforcement and gun dealers to put the gun back in a position where it can be sold again,” [Openrange Gun Range President Barry] Laws said.

Citizens Increasingly Turn to the 2nd Amendment as a Result of Chicago’s ‘Defund to Police’ Movement

Sun, 02/19/2023 - 10:00

Some folks don’t realize that in a civilized society, the police exist to protect the criminal class as much as to keep them in check. Because when government can’t or won’t stop criminal behavior, gun owners will step up and enforce the rule of law in order to protect themselves. Unlike the police, the civilians are restrained by common sense, not volumes of rules, procedures – and politics.

In Chicago, regular people try to live and work in a cesspool of violence.

Charles: Bruen Is Part of the Supreme Court’s Attempt to Concentrate its Own Power

Sun, 02/19/2023 - 08:00

“[I]n requiring courts to strike down gun regulations even when they might be narrowly tailored to accomplish the most compelling of governmental interests,” Professor Khiara Bridges argues, Bruen “has rendered the right to bear arms the most protected of rights in the Constitution.” The Court’s hidebound historicism in the case significantly expands the Second Amendment’s scope. No matter how compelling the state’s interest, no matter how narrowly tailored its regulation, Bruen’s new method dictates that a modern gun law cannot stand without adequate grounding in the distant past.

Narrative Fail: Legally Armed Civilian Shot El Paso Mall Shooter, Preventing More Casualties

Sat, 02/18/2023 - 13:00

It happened again. A civilian carrying a concealed firearm stopped a shooting in an El Paso, Texas mall earlier this week. We know news like this will come as something of a shock to our friends in the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex, but…who are we fooling? That’s exactly why we wrote this.

Anti-gunners love to claim that people who carry firearms don’t use them to defend themselves or stop crimes…all evidence to the contrary.

Forest Service Authorizes Shooting Feral Cows in the Gila Wilderness to Protect the Environment

Sat, 02/18/2023 - 10:00

By Susan Montoya Bryan, AP

A helicopter with a shooter will fly over a portion of the vast Gila Wilderness in southwestern New Mexico next week, searching for feral cows to kill.

U.S. Forest Service managers approved the plan Thursday to protect sensitive spots in the nation’s first designated wilderness area. The move sets the stage for legal challenges over how to handle unbranded livestock and other stray cows as drought deepens in the West.

Gun Review: Taurus GX4XL T.O.R.O. 9mm Pistol

Fri, 02/17/2023 - 14:00

With the GX4XL T.O.R.O., Taurus is stepping into one of the fastest growing, most challenging, and most in-demand market segments in the gun industry; higher capacity micro-compact carry guns. After the new standard-setting SIG P365 and the follow-on models from competitors, consumers now expect a whole lot out of a little gun.

Taurus has delivered.

The GX4XL is simply the previously released Taurus GX4 with a 1″ longer slide. The benefits of that extra length are pretty obvious; a longer sight radius for more accurate shooting, and more mass up front to reduce recoil.

Anti-Gun Students Paint Over Pro-Campus Carry Message At MSU After Murder Spree

Fri, 02/17/2023 - 12:00

There’s a big rock on the Michigan State University campus on Farm Lane that serves as a totem pole of sorts for the MSU community. Following the massacre of three MSU students by a lunatic illegally carrying a handgun, images of an anti-gun message painted on the rock illustrated many media reports on the shooting.

But some students had painted a pro-campus carry message on the rock: “Allow us to defend ourselves & carry on campus.” That didn’t get nearly as much media attention.

Chaos Theory: George Soros Takes an Integrated, Long-Game Approach to Destroying Gun Rights

Fri, 02/17/2023 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

Former New York City mayor Michael Bloomberg and Open Society Foundation’s George Soros may appear to have similar goals. They have each spent massive amounts of their personal fortunes in pursuit of their political objectives through networks of shadowy cutouts, foundations and nonprofits. Both champion big government and abhor personal freedoms – especially gun rights – but it’s their methods that separate their madness.

Bloomberg funds a half-dozen Astroturf (they’re certainly not grassroots as he claims) anti-gun groups, which focus primarily on policy and legislative issues.

Highland Park Parade Shooter’s Father Indicted for Reckless Conduct, Helping His Son Get a ‘Weapon of War’

Thu, 02/16/2023 - 10:00

Michael Tarm, AP

An Illinois grand jury on Wednesday formally indicted the father of a man charged with fatally shooting seven people at a Fourth of July parade in suburban Chicago, the Lake County State’s Attorney Office said.

The indictment charges Robert Crimo Jr., 58, with seven counts of reckless conduct. Prosecutors have said he helped his son, Robert Crimo III, obtain a gun license years before the shooting in Highland Park, even though the then-19-year-old had threatened violence.

A ‘Progressive’ Prosecutor’s Lenient Plea Deal Paved the Way for the Michigan State Shooter

Wed, 02/15/2023 - 14:00

From the CCRKBA . . .

The man responsible for murdering three Michigan State University students and wounding five others should have been behind bars, but instead was free because of a reduced charge on a plea deal, a fact that should outrage not just gun owners, but everyone in the country, the Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms said today.

“Published reports say Anthony McRae was arrested on a felony gun law violation in 2019,” noted CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb.

Wheelgun Wednesday: My 3 Favorite Smith & Wesson Revolvers

Wed, 02/15/2023 - 12:00

We all have our favorite guns, and I’m no different. Something about the design and cosmetics of certain arms speak to me, but I’m not exclusive to any single brand. In the safe right now are semi-auto handguns from Colt, FN, GLOCK, Ruger, and SIG Sauer, and rifles from Remington, Savage, Beretta, Daniel Defense, F-1, and Mossberg. Many of them are transients, sure, but, occasionally, something will stick.

Overwhelmingly, the ones that have stuck are Smith & Wesson wheelguns.
