The Truth About Guns

Guns And Ammo Contributed a Record $300 Million to Conservation in Q1. You’re Welcome, America
Wildlife conservation in the United States is seeing another windfall, thanks to the firearm and ammunition industry.
NSSF announced that firearm and ammunition manufacturers paid a record-setting $300,498,588.23 in the first quarter of 2022. That’s the most-ever firearm and ammunition excise tax for the first quarter of any year and brings the total contributions to the Pittman-Robertson excise taxes to over $15.3 billion since the fund was established in 1937.
Things That Don’t Suck: New Crossbreed Modular Belly Band 2.0 and Purse Board
A few weeks ago, Crossbreed Holsters released a new version of their modular bellyband holster, so I decided to give it a try. I also decided to give another part of their modular system, the Purse Board, a try as well. It’s a well thought-out system, but like most concealed carry options, it’s not going to be useful for every person in every situation.
I purchased these items myself, so you’ll get a very honest review here that’s not influenced by getting anything for free to review.
Georgia County Schools Locked Down After Student Found With a Hand-Held ‘Massager’
Deputies reported that the incident occurred on Tuesday around 11:50 a.m. when a parent dialed 911 stating their child saw another student with a handgun while in the boy’s restroom at school.
Authorities were able to notify school staff, which caused the entire school district to be placed on lockdown.
“Through investigation, it was found that a male student had a hand-held massager that resembled a handgun.

Chicago’s Public Defender: Police Are Abusing Anti-Gun Laws, Targeting Minorities
In a recent Twitter thread, Cook County’s public defender office raised important concerns about gun control laws. They’ve identified a pattern of racism in the enforcement of such laws in Chicago, but can’t determine how bad the problem is or how to solve it without more information.
The area’s police departments are underreporting data, making it impossible to correct the issue.
Not only is there a racist pattern of enforcement of gun laws in Chicago.
Gun Owners After FBI Raid on Trump’s Florida Home: Welcome to the DOJ Party, Pal
By Lee Williams
The FBI raid on President Donald Trump’s Florida home came as little surprise to the gun rights community. After all, the Department of Justice was weaponized against us the second the current occupants of the White House began measuring the drapes.
Their agents have been running and gunning without any adult supervision ever since. So it was only a matter of time before they became emboldened enough to execute a raid on a former President’s home – armed with weapons of war, no less.
Karl Marx Believed in Gun Rights So Why Don’t Marxists?
Karl Marx didn’t support the right of workers to bear arms because he saw it as an inalienable right. He supported gun rights because they were a means to an end.
By Jonathan Miltimore
For just $10.77, people can go on Amazon and buy wall art of Ronald Reagan apparently defending the Second Amendment.
“Under no pretext should arms and ammunition be surrendered,” the text reads next to a picture of Reagan; “any attempts to disarm the people must be stopped, by force if necessary.”
There are a few problems with the quote, but the biggest one is that Reagan never said it.

Civilian Disarmament Activist Threatens Gun Owners With Drones, Hellfire Missiles and ‘Knife Bombs’
The problem with outlandish threats against law-abiding gun owners is they get repeated. That’s especially true when gun control groups seize upon careless remarks by President Joe Biden that the U.S. government would consider using actual weapons of war against those who dare to believe the Second Amendment protects the nation against a tyrannical government.
Newtown Action Alliance’s Po Murray tweeted, “A gun rights activist from Newtown told me he needs an AR15 to defend himself from a tyrannical government.

Castle doctrine laws vary from state to state, but they usually apply to locations where armed self-defense is considered protected. Specifically in Indiana, the castle doctrine applies to your car, too.
According to the Indianapolis Star that came in handy when a couple were in their car when approached by a group of yoots . . .

Optic Review: Riton Optics 3 Conquer 3-15×44 Riflescope
It looks like Riton Optics is making the best budget optic in the business.
That’s certainly been my experience after a couple months and a few thousand rounds through the Riton Optics 3 Conquer 3-15×44.
The most important feature of any riflescope is the clarity and light transmission of the glass itself. It doesn’t really matter how many features the scope has, If you can’t see a clear image of your target, everything else is worthless.

How To Do The ‘Dicken Drill’ At Night (Long Range, Low Light With a Pistol)
While many defensive shooters have recently discovered longer range pistol shooting after the Greenwood Park Mall shooting, the one where Eli Dicken stopped mass shooter from 40 yards away, some of us have already been doing the “Dicken Drill” for years.
As I pointed out in this article from March, there are several important reasons to practice longer-range marksmanship with a pistol. For one, it helps you with your fundamentals, which makes your close-in shooting better.
Faxon Firearms’ Sentinel: The New 8.6 Blackout AR10 Rifle
It’s all in the name… Sentinel. A Sentinel is a guard whose job it is to stand and keep watch. The Faxon Firearms Sentinel will do just that… keep watch… overwatch, that is. The AR-15, no doubt, is America’s favorite rifle. But even America’s rifle has its limitations. The primary limitation is that it cannot handle long-action cartridges such as the 8.6 Blackout.
The standard 5.56 NATO cartridge loses a lot of velocity and power at a distance.

Freedom: What the Bruen Ruling Portends For Illinois and Similar Anti-Gun States
Gun owners nationwide won big wen the Supreme Court handed down the Bruen decision declaring New York’s may-issue concealed carry permitting system unconstitutional. The court, in a 6-3 decision, ruled that the Second Amendment effectively means what it says, and ended the two-part interest balancing test that courts had used to sidestep the Heller decision in Second Amendment court cases for ten-plus years.
The Bruen decision goes far beyond New York and will have implications for every state in the union.
Bloomberg-Paid Writer Horrified That NRA-Supported Groups Can Write Supreme Court Amicus Briefs in Support of Gun Rights
An examination of the 49 pro-NRA amicus briefs filed in Bruen, along with court and IRS filings, shows that over the last two decades, the NRA has given financial support to at least 12 of the groups and individuals who lobbied the court on its behalf. That’s nearly a quarter. Though a full accounting is impossible, some recipients collected several million dollars from the NRA during that period and before filing briefs in Bruen.

Things That Don’t Suck: Blackhawk T-Series L2C Overt Holster Kit
As I mentioned in another article, I’ve been struggling a bit to find accessories for my M&P 10mm. It turns out that, at least for most things, the key is to buy things that work with the M&P in .45 ACP, which is another gun that’s harder to find accessories for (can you tell I’m an M&P junkie?). After upgrading the recoil spring, my next move was to find some holsters.
Next week, I’ll review some concealed carry holsters, but one of the first things I got for the M&P 10mm was something for carrying out in the desert or into the woods.
Winchester Data Shows Hunters and Target Shooters are Increasingly Shooting AR Pattern Rifles
The time has come for President Joe Biden and the rest of the gun control politicians to pack up the worn-out line that “no one needs an AR-15 to hunt deer.”
Turns out, recreational target shooters and hunters do want modern sporting rifles (MSRs). That’s the family of AR-platform [semiautomatic] rifles that come in many calibers. According to the 2022 Ammunition Consumption Study by Winchester Ammunition, more than half of recreational shooters firing a centerfire rifle used an MSR.
Schools Are Making Adjustments to Contingency Plans for the Painful Lessons Learned at Uvalde
[Madison County Sheriff Buddy] Harwood acknowledged that people might have concerns about AR-15s being located in school, but he argued that it would be safer on the whole.
“I hate that we’ve come to a place in our nation where I’ve got to put a safe in our schools, and lock that safe up for my deputies to be able to acquire an AR-15. But, we can shut it off and say it won’t happen in Madison County, but we never know,” he said.
