New Models in ATI Raven Stock Line
Advanced Technology International announced four additions to the company’s Raven line of adjustable shotgun buttstocks. The new models cover the following shotguns:
...First Spear Skirmisher Pack
First Spear has come out with a very interesting range bag. It seems rather discrete as it is not bedazzled with Molle. It would have helped if it came in other colors, rather than the common color palette of tactical equipment. Color aside, this pack can hold a decent amount of firearms. Three pistols and a broken down AR-15. On top of that, it has compartments for ammo, magazines, ear protection and shooting glasses. All of that in a decent sized backpack. Now comes the compromise, the price. $267.78. But when you start comparing that to other tactical back packs, like Kifaru, Mystery Ranch, or Triple Aught Design; $267.78 isn’t that bad.
...TriggerWork Tavor Trigger Job
So far the only replacement trigger on the market for the IWI Tavor bullpup rifle is the Timney trigger at $352.95 with the new Super Sabra trigger from Geissele on the way which is expected to be available mid-spring 2014 at $350. The Timney drops the Tavor’s rough 10-15lb trigger pull down to a crisp and refreshing 4lbs. The two-stage Geissele is expected to reduce the pull to around 4.5lbs. Both systems are replacement trigger packs that just drop-in.
...Curious New Jogging Holsters

...The Weekend Funny: YouTube Gun Fails of 2014
I hope it does not need mentioned, but do not try dumb things at home with firearms. Our interest, hobby, and passion can have very dangerous consequences when used stupidly. Fortunately, some people record their stupidity for our enjoyment and learning.
In all seriousness, please do not be stupid with firearms… really. We like our readers in one piece.
Free Military Drone. Thanks UPS!
A guy on reddit received an unsolicited package from UPS. It is a $400k unmanned aerial vehicle. It appears to by part 1 of 2 packages. He is missing the propulsion and the imaging portions of the drone.
...Introducing the 45 RAPTOR Cartridge for the AR-10
Master cartridge designer Arne Brennan, the original inventor of the concept that became the 6.5mm Grendel, has developed a new round for the AR-10 platform. The 45 RAPTOR case is a necked up .308 Winchester case with a case length and body dimensions of a .460 S&W. It packs a much greater punch (30+% more energy at 100 yards) than AR-15 big bore cartridges such as .50 Beowulf, .450 Bushmaster or .458 SOCOM.

Last month China’s Ministry of Public Security began allowing beat-cops on patrol to carry guns. The gun approved by the Ministry is the obscure Type 05 Police Revolver, first published online by Max Popenker. Max wrote at World.Guns.Ru …

...85 Years Ago: Simone de Beauvoir and John Paul Sartre Behind The Trigger
As begins L. P. Hartley’s novel The Go-Between: “The past is a foreign country: they do things differently there.”
Indeed, they do. Almost exactly 85 years ago, existentialist philosopher and feminist Simone de Beauvoir visited a fairground attraction with existentialist and Marxist Jean-Paul Sartre, at the very beginning of their long-lasting relationship. The attraction? A shooting gallery that took your picture when you hit the target.
Despite her closed eyes, the photograph is evidence that she didn’t miss.

IA Universal Covert Shoulder Rig
Intelligent Armour has updated their older shoulder rig for the HK MP5K. It has a molle panel and is now “Universal”. The previous shoulder rig was developed specifically for the HK MP5s. Now those in executive protection can get this for tucking away any sub gun under their suit jackets.
The upper section is made of leather and the rig has four points for adjustment to suit any body shape and size.
It retails for £78.00 ($120.83) and is made in the UK. For more information go to their website.
Troy Pump Action Rifle Features
Tactical-Life.com posted up a video of the new Troy PAR (pump-action rifle). Some interesting features are highlighted in this video. The stock is billet and the hinge can be flipped for ambidextrous folding. I am rather impressed how slim the stock is and more so when the stock is folded.
The pump release is a bar under the trigger guard. I would have preferred a pump release similar to the KSG for the Troy PAR. This looks to be a very interesting AR from Troy. It will be legal for many people in restrictive states as well as hunters who can’t hunt with a semi auto.
New 10mm Ammo from Federal
Federal Premium announced a new 10mm load designed for handgun hunting. The load uses a 180 grain JSP that is rated at 1,275 fps from the muzzle. Federal states the load should be good for deer, bear and hog.
...Savage Mk.II FV-SR Review
Oleg Volk has reviewed the Savage Mk.II FV-SR over at AllOutdoor …
Savage has long done well in the entry-level rimfire rifles. Mark 2 series represented an upgrade on the basics with the addition of Accu-trigger. FV-SR model takes it another step towards versatility with a built-in Picatinny mount, target bolt handle and muzzle threaded for sound suppressors or other devices. All that for less than $300 retail! Check with your local gunsmith on the cost of threading the muzzle on an existing rifle and you will see just how good of a deal this is.
I own one of the original Accutrigger-installed Savage Mark II models. I had my gunsmith thread it for a .22 suppressor. Its a nice rifle, but the heavy barrel and tactical bolt of this Mk.II FV-SR model would be a nice improvement.
Review: Modifying and Stippling a Glock
At the risk of starting a religious war, today I want to write about custom handgun modifications. I am of the mindset that once I have bought something, it is mine. I also believe that most things bought “off the shelf” are a great starting point, but rarely the final product I want to live with. That said, I like modifications to look “stock”, as if the product came from the factory that way.
...Crimson Trace To Offer Collectible Grips
As a 20th anniversary release, Crimson Trace is releasing 1000 sets of limited edition grips to the public. Made for the 1911 platform from laminated Applejack wood they are truly a beautiful grip for the 1911. While the price of them is only slightly higher then the normal MSRP of their normal 1911 grips, but I am sure the private resale market promises to be be much higher for those lucky enough to get a set and wanting to set.
