Ft. Hood Killer was big supporter of gun control…

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 21:00

In a post on Facebook, the Ft. Hood killer (the recent one) posted:

“It is stupid to me that anyone can have easy access to a powerful weapon without being mentally evaluated. This makes the government indirect accomplice… These bastards have perfected their way of attacking studying previous massacres to gain publicity and their minute of fame as a villain. But thanks to Hollywood and the sensational profiling by the media [they] give more power to those intelligent cowards.”

What a cowardly sicko.

Thank heavens he offed himself when confronted by an armed (female) MP.

Bass Pro Shops sued over Security Guard College fraudulent training

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 19:20

Bass Pro is low looking into the barrel of a lawsuit seeking class-action status after one of the instructors they had teaching Illinois concealed carry classes in their stores was recently decertified for corner cutting on his courses.

James Andel was an instructor teaching for the Illinois Security Guard College.

Today, Mr. Andel is dodging phone calls and emails from hundreds of angry former students who paid good money to get sham training.

Some undoubtedly assumed that since Mr. Andel was teaching at Bass Pro Shops stores that he was a competent instructor.  Others were looking for the cheapest training they could find.

And it came back to bite them on the rear.

As for Bass Pro, they failed to vet the instructor they had teaching in their store.

An entire Florida family opens up on home invader

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 14:00

The family that shoots together, stays together.

And pity the fool who breaks into a house owned by a shooting family.

Just as one violent thug attempted in Florida in recent days.

Of all of the homes Mr. Bad Guy could have picked to victimize, he chose badly in picking the Pena family (not pictured above) home.

He chose really badly.

Check out the story:

WINTER HAVEN, Florida (WSAV) – When a stranger tried to break into the Pena family home, the Penas were ready for him.

“If this guy would’ve stayed home, he’d have been alive right now,” a neighbor told Fox 13 Orlando.

Early Monday morning, the Penas woke to the sound of 40-year-old Mitchell Large trying to break into their Winter Haven home through a porch door. Undeterred by a warning shot, Large burst into the kitchen.

SIMPLE MAYOR: Louisville mayor pleads with gun owners to leave guns at home this weekend

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 12:04

It seems almost incredulous that Louisville’s mayor would plead for law-abiding gun owners with concealed carry licenses to leave their guns at home this coming weekend for “Thunder over Louisville” given the rampaging groups of violent black youths that have plagued the downtown areas in that city for weeks now.

Gun owners aren’t amused.  The mayor said “things can escalate” when gun owners bring their guns.

Well, no kidding, mayor.  They can escalate VERY unfavorably for individuals like the two who were arrested for one recent weekend’s random violent attacks.

Gun owners are taking the mayor to task for creating the impression that card-carrying good guys with guns

WHY WE CARRY: In a word… monsters.

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 11:45

Simeon Adams.

The 16-year-old above is a monster who is now in police custody for a spree of armed robberies where he shot his victims, twice each.

Simeon Adams is the poster child for why we carry.

There are monsters out there.

Monsters who should have been run through a wood chipper at an early age, but who are instead preying upon innocent people for their “nourishment”.

This monster shot and killed a 24-year-old newlywed with a good job and a pregnant wife at home in Indianapolis on April 1st.  If his victim Nathan Trapuzzano had a concealed carry piece and better situational awareness, his story would probably have had an entirely different ending.

Instead, Trapuzzano was shot and left for dead.  And he died.

Ironically, the same kid was hospitalized with a gunshot wound to *his own* neck hours later.  Did he pull the same stunt with a CCW holder who perforated him or

Ft. Hood soldier pleads for right an end to “GUN FREE” death zones on military bases

Wed, 04/09/2014 - 11:21

A powerful letter to Congress, written by First Lt. Patrick Cook, of Ft. Hood, Texas.

My letter to Congress, read today at Texas Senate committee on Constitutional Carry. It is now public record.

To my friends, fellow Texans, brothers in arms, members of the committee, and everyone within the sound of my voice, greetings.

My name is First Lieutenant Patrick Cook of the 49th Transportation Battalion, Fort Hood, Texas, and this past Wednesday I found myself trapped in an enclosed room with fourteen of my fellow Soldiers, one of whom was barricading the door against a madman with a .45 pistol when he was fatally shot. Through what I can only describe as a miracle, he somehow found enough strength to continue pushing against that door until the shooter gave up and went elsewhere, at which time he collapsed. Nearly a week later, I can still taste his blood in my mouth from when I and my comrades breathed into his lungs for 20 long minutes whil

THE CONCEALED CARRY TRAINING GOLD RUSH: Some folks are risking everything to save $50

Tue, 04/08/2014 - 18:00

We found this piece from the April 2014 issue of The Center Mass Citizen Newsletter.  (With some minor editing for readability).

Center Mass, Inc. is a Michigan-based company that provides a host of firearms training programs for civilians and law enforcement.

They seem to have their stuff together up there and we salute them for some great writing.

The Concealed Carry Training Gold Rush Risking your life + your freedom + your mental stability + your life-long possessions to save less than $50… Why do this???

Professional Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and firearms training is serious and nothing to gamble with. Yet thousands of people do exactly that on a daily basis.

LIGHTER FARE: Watch Westboro cowards run for their lives

Tue, 04/08/2014 - 14:36

The despicable Westboro Baptist Church members traveled to Moore, OK to tell the residents there that God hates them.

The Westboro kooks weren’t welcome and half of the Moore Police Department was there to protect the kooks from local residents.

The police line didn’t last long.

Within minutes, the protective cordon failed and the Westboro cowards ran for their lives.

Here’s the video.

CHICAGO CORRUPTION: Cooking the books on homicide numbers

Tue, 04/08/2014 - 10:26

Chicago insiders have just been exposed for reclassifying lots and lots of homicides in Chicago into non-criminal deaths.  Not only does this unethical airbrushing of data save Chicago politicians the embarrassment of another homicide victim, it allows the Chicago Police Department to avoid the humiliation of yet another unsolved homicide.

Everyone wins, except the people of Chicago of course.

The Truth About Chicago’s Crime Rates
The city’s drop in crime has been nothing short of miraculous.
Here’s what’s behind the unbelievable numbers.

Chicago (Chicago Magazine) – … On October 28, [2013] a pathologist ruled the death of Tiara Groves a homicide by “unspecified means.” This rare ruling means yes, somebody had killed Groves, but the pathologist couldn’t pinpoint the exact cause

Bringing real firearms training to the university setting: TrainIllinois partnering with SIU-Carbondale

Tue, 04/08/2014 - 07:38

Real firearms training, not just an auditorium full of people listening to a lecture about gun safety and a little bit of legal considerations as part of a 4-hour Utah “class”.  This one involves shooting, gun handling and more shooting by good instructors.  Here’s the press release:

TrainIllinois is now teaching concealed carry classes, hosted at SIUC’s Touch of Nature. Our concealed carry classes exceed the minimum requirements established by the Illinois State Police. Our classes enable our students to carry safely and create a large knowledge base so that first-time shooters and experienced firearms users alike can make an educated decision on how to properly incorporate concealed carry with their lifestyle.

TrainIllinois makes these classes available to U.S. Citizens, 20 years of age or older, with a clean criminal record. We provide more than 20 firearms, a variety of holsters, and ammunition in class so that our students can learn to properly handle a

GUNS SAVE LIFE! Another study finds shall-issue carry laws save lives; gun bans not so much

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 17:26

Yet another peer-reviewed study has been publish in the journal Applied Economics Letters.  The research was conducted by economist Mark Gius.

Here’s the abstract:

The purpose of the present study is to determine the effects of state-level assault weapons bans and concealed weapons laws on state-level murder rates. Using data for the period 1980 to 2009 and controlling for state and year fixed effects, the results of the present study suggest that states with restrictions on the carrying of concealed weapons had higher gun-related murder rates than other states. It was also found that assault weapons bans did not significantly affect murder rates at the state level. These results suggest that restrictive concealed weapons laws may cause an increase in gun-related murders at the state level. The results of this study are consistent with some prior research in this area, most

MISSOURI: Political hack pulls Jim Crow gun bill, claims death threats are reason

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 17:15

Here’s one for the low-information politician files…

Democrat Missouri Rep. Joshua Peters (pictured above) introduced a bill to ban a host of guns commonly used for self-defense, effectively pricing meaningful self-defense outside that of many of his minority constituents in the north end of St. Louis.  This is the same thing racist legislatures in the southern states did following the Civil War to keep guns out of the hands of recently-freed, cash-poor former slaves.

Yes, you read right.  A black man seeking to restrict the rights of his fellow black man.  The Klan couldn’t be prouder.

And good old Joshua Peters has got the cajones to call his bill the “Protecting the Second Amendment Act”.

What a sanctimonious S.O.B.

Wisconsin now recognizes IL CCW permits!

Mon, 04/07/2014 - 16:35

Good news from Wisconsin!

They have amended their reciprocity information page with the addition Illinois CCW licenses to those recognized in Wisconsin.

Permit(s) Honored In Wisconsin:

Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Hawaii, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, New York, North Carolina, North Dakota, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, Virgin Islands, Washington, Wyoming

This is particularly good news for northern Illinois residents who wish to escape the insanely dangerous and violence-plagued Chicago for leisure, recreation or whatever.  Now destinations in Wisconsin are available to those who prefer to take their firearm with them during their travels

ILLINOIS FIRST CCW SELF-DEFENSE: Armed robbers thwarted by concealed carry licensee

Sun, 04/06/2014 - 07:03

(Chicago Tribune) – A 53-year-old South Austin man with a valid concealed carry permit was able to shoot at two men who tried to accost him outside of his home early this morning.

The incident happened about 2:40 a.m. on the 5400 block of West Van Buren Street, said Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer Michael Sullivan.

The man was walking from his garage to the front of his home when two males in hoodies appeared in a gangway between his home and the neighbor’s home, Sullivan said.

One of the two men pulled a handgun from his waistband and pointed at the man who took out his own gun and managed to fire several times at the males, Sullivan said.

The males fled the area without being struck and the shooting did not result in any property damage, police said.<

CHICAGO’S BETTER OFF WITHOUT THUGS LIKE HIM: “He didn’t have no weapon or nothing”

Sat, 04/05/2014 - 10:00

Raisin Shaw, booking photo from 2011.

Raisin Shaw, booking 2014.

We wrote about Chicago cops shooting 20-year-old Raason Shaw.  We called him “Raisin” because that’s how we think he probably pronounced it.

Just as a guy we knew as “DEATHRAY” pronounced his name “Dee-ought-tray”.

Anyway, low-information “Raisin” is being portrayed as the choirboy angel by

Moms Demand Action girls are back – with more half-wit propaganda

Sat, 04/05/2014 - 07:56

The Moms Demand Action (go to a singles bar, ladies) troupe are out with their latest attempt to create a meme in social media – as though social media participation equates to grassroots advocacy.  The Moms girls have, of course, sold themselves to Bloomberg’s Mayors Against Illegal Guns as they couldn’t generate enough cash on their own to pay their dedicated staff of paid activists.

Their latest propaganda?

Equating gun ownership with cigarette smoking.  It’s from their Facebook page, and no, we’re not going to link to it to drive eyeballs to the page.

Profound words: The right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed

Fri, 04/04/2014 - 10:30

There are some profound words from Adam Baldwin of late, with a hat tip to The Truth About Guns.

Actor Baldwin sent this around social media circles via Twitter, boomeranging Moms Demand Action’s latest stunt.

Here it is:

A well-educated Electorate, being necessary to self-governance in a free State, the right of the people to keep and read books shall not be infringed.

Read it again.
