Comcast is the devil… New email for time being.

Mon, 03/17/2014 - 12:45

by John Boch

If you need me, email me at jboch@gunssavelife.com.

As much as I detest Google, they are VASTLY better in service than Comcast it seems.

Comcast sucks.

No, they really suck.

I’m in the process of moving and Comcast decided yesterday I no longer needed my old email addresses.  Or access to my account.

I’ve spent just shy of 100 minutes on the phone in three calls, one of which was dropped, listening to Comcast’s insipid hold music and advertisements for pay per view “events” and other trash.  I’ve talked with eight people, three of whom spoke English as a second or third language.

My favorite ESL statement:  “Is your email a Comcast email?”

Here’s your sign, pal.

Now I get to wait up to 72 hours for them to get me back up and running.

If anyone out there is just starting out with internet and cable TV, my advice is avoid Comcast like the plague.

NOT UNCOMMON UNDER OBAMA: ATF Ignorning the rule of law with Ares Armor

Sun, 03/16/2014 - 14:08

With greater and greater frequency, our federal government, under the leadership of Barack Hussein Obama, has been running the nation with little regard for the rule of law.

The implementation of Obamacare is one example where Barack Obama’s officials have changed the so-called law at their whim.

The bankruptcy of Chrysler and General Motors was one such example, as was the Fast and Furious program by the ATF are two additional examples.

The latest gun-related example comes just this weekend as the ATF ignored a court order restraining them from raiding Ares Armor in California.

ATF came in and took their customer list anyway.

PUBLIC SCHOOL TEACHER? Self-admitted bigot writes anonymous screed

Fri, 03/14/2014 - 09:00
A cowardly bigot’s rant

We received this letter post-marked Springfield from a self-admitted closed-minded bigot who is also an educator.  Woe be to her students.

Dear Gun Nuts,

The fact that there is a publication devoted to guns/gun owners is amazing to me.  The picture of the cute girl on the cover of the March issue makes me sick.  Who knows but what she may someday be the victim of the same weapon that she now “enjoys”?

The second amendment speaks of an armed “militia” – translation – military.  Unless you are in the military or in law enforcement, you nor anyone else has any business with a gun.  Want to hunt?  Keep your rifles stored in a secure location within your town/city and check it out for hunting, then return it.  The only reason to have a pistol is to kill.  If you use it for target shooting, etc., you really need to get a life.

I am a mother, grandmother, and educator.  I care deeply about life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.

Scandal? Coles County Sheriff sells confiscated guns for department equipment

Thu, 03/13/2014 - 17:05

Illinois Watchdog has a story of Coles County Sheriff Darrell Cox of selling or trading confiscated firearms to federally licensed gun dealers, asking if he has the authority to do so.

It’s been picked up by FoxNews, Daily Caller and others.

IL sheriff seizes, sells guns. But does he have the authority?

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (IllinoisWatchdog.org) — Dozens of guns taken from crime scenes and accused criminals in Coles County have been sold or traded.

That much is clear.

ISN’T TALKING: Sheriff Darrell Cox won’t answer questions about seized guns, says it’s political.

But ask whether the sheriff had the power to make those deals, and things get murky.

A joint investigation by Illinois Watchdog and the Edgar County Watchdogs looked into the sale or trade of weapons

Bloodbath in Detroit! Dead bad guys, that is…

Thu, 03/13/2014 - 13:04

Residents of Detroit have had enough with scumbags and hoodlums raping, robbing and pillaging with impunity in the Motor City.

These sub-human barbarians see their fellow neighbors and citizens as targets to victimize instead of doing honest work.

Well, there’s a new sheriff in town, so to speak.

The new Detroit Police Chief has said that armed residents are quite a deterrence.

(DeadlineDetroit) – Detroit’s top cop James Craig made a statement seldom heard by a big city police chief: If citizens in Detroit were legally armed, criminals would think twice about attacking them.

“When we look at the good community members who have concealed we

ISRA endorses DILLARD for Governor

Wed, 03/12/2014 - 19:14

ISRA’s Political Victory Fund has endorsed Kirk Dillard for the Republican nomination for Governor.

We must say, Dillard visited Guns Save Life a couple of months ago and impressed us as well.  GSL is unable to make endorsements because of tax law reasons.

Rutherford also made a great impression at his visits as well.

I WANT ONE!: Army soldiers get a new tool in Carl Gustaf

Wed, 03/12/2014 - 13:00

I want one!

The US Army will now be issuing soldiers the M3 Carl Gustaf, an 84mm recoilless rifle.

The new “gun” is reloadable, with an effective range of nearly a mile, and comes equipped with a night-vision sight.

FoxNews - The U.S. Army is bringing in the really, really big guns.

Regular units will soon be issued a Swedish-built “recoilless” rifle that can fire an 84-mm. projectile nearly a mile and has the power to take out a tank. The 15-pound guns, which soldiers hold just above the shoulder to fire…

…the guns, which are equipped with a night-vision scope that runs alongside the massive barrel, will allow soldiers to “fix and destroy enemy targets day or night at ranges up to 1,250 meters.”

The weapons, which cost upwards of $20,0

Earthquake in Florida: Obamacare, guns sunk Sink

Wed, 03/12/2014 - 12:00

You may have heard about the special Congressional election in Florida yesterday.

In that race, an underfunded Republican David Jolly defeated a well funded (through national Democratic sources) and well-promoted Democrat Alex Sink.

Many in the media are claiming it’s Obamacare that sunk Sink, a former candidate for Governor in Florida.

Not exactly.

Alex Sink was a moonbat on guns as well.  She earned herself an F-rating from the NRA with her support of Obama-style gun control.  David Jolly, on the other hand, supported gun rights.

Folks, Sink getting sunk is huge.  It portends a the sinking of anti-gun Democrats nationwide in this fall’s elections.

New NYC mayor claims HIS policies causing big drop in crime; claiming credit of sunrise next

Wed, 03/12/2014 - 11:00

It’s no secret that new New York City Mayor Bill De Blasio (born Warren Wilhelm Jr.) is a far-left moonbat and he brings along his moonbattery beliefs to NYC government.

He’s rolling back successful policing practices that have brought down violent crime in past years in The Big Apple, as the city nibbled around the edges, ignoring the obvious and proven way to substantially lower crime rates (eliminating the Sullivan Act and a host of other anti-gun laws in that city, and allowing residents there to carry firearms for personal defense).

Crime is down during De Blasio’s first few weeks in office.

And guess who is claiming credit?

Warren Wilhelm Junior is.

(New York Times) – Mayor Bill de Blasio, who frequently criticized the Police Department in his previous job as publ

Another school over-reacts on NRA t-shirt

Wed, 03/12/2014 - 10:00

Every school year, a handful of school administrators have to learn the hard way that they can’t tell their students to turn National Rifle Association t-shirts inside out or change clothes.

NRA shirts are protected political speech.  Violating First Amendment rights usually comes with a pretty stiff pricetag.

Like the bitter clingers who bitterly cling to the notion that the Second Amendment only applies to militia – in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary – some bitter clingers believe NRA t-shirts are inappropriate because of images of firearms contained thereon.

GRAND ISLAND, NY (WGRZ) – The parents of a Grand Island High School sophomore confirm their son was recently made to serve a one day in-school suspension, resulting from his refusal to change clothes after a determ

One great meeting!

Last night’s Guns Save Life monthly meeting in Rantoul was a great time as well over two hundred fifty members and guests attended in a gathering of the faithful.

CHICAGO ISN’T SAFE: Retired cop critically wounded in home invasion

Tue, 03/11/2014 - 15:41

A retired police officer, rumored to be a sergeant, was shot in the neck by a pair of home invaders after he’d told them where to find his safe.

If a retired police sergeant, who knows Chicago and has chosen to live in a decent part of the city, isn’t safe from this sort of predatory violence, then who is, aside from Mayor Rahm with his contingent of armed bodyguards?

Think Progress unhappy George Zimmerman signing autographs at gun show in FL

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 20:04

Poor Think “Progress”.

They’re in a tizzy that George Zimmerman was at a gun show in Florida this past weekend signing autographs for admirers.

Yes, admirers.

People admire a man that despite being pilloried and castigated by Dem politicians and the mainstream media, he didn’t crack under the pressure.

Hey Bruce Rauner: Your huntin’ dog doesn’t hunt gun rights!

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 18:36

Billionaire Bruce Rauner has earned himself the nickname “Baron Von Carhartt” for wearing working man’s jackets in many of his commercials, trying to appeal to regular Joes in Illinois.

Illinois Republican gubernatorial nominee and multi-billionaire Bruce Rauner has been Captain Invisible on gun rights.

He plays the role of a conservative, of sorts, in his campaign thus far.  To tout his 2nd Amendment credentials, he loves to brag on his hunting dog, as though gun owners are low-information voters who will clap on cue because some guy says he’s got a good “huntin’” dog.

A mental health professional responds to our “Loose lips can cost you your gun rights” story

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 17:37

This was written by a friend of ours who has been in the mental health field for upwards of twenty years now.  It’s in response to our article on “Loose lips can cost you your gun rights”.

by GardenSerf

The mental health reporting requirements have been in practice in both IN and MI and disclosure of current/past treatment has been required at the time of application in both states.  MI only wants to know about CURRENT treatment and IN wants to know about all history of treatment (entire lifetime) –except if it dealt with marital counseling or alcohol/drug abuse.  Yes, you read that right:  Get an antidepressant 10 years ago in IN and the Indiana State Police wants you to sign a release so they can look over your health records; but, talk to a counselor about smoking pot an hour ago and that is NOT reportable in IN.

That said, we health care practitioners are very careful about reporting anyone as

Armalite’s “David” ad “offends” Italian government. Tough.

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 15:26

The Italian government just gave Armalite a ton of free publicity with their creation of a hullabaloo over a gun advert.

Armalite photoshopped one of their rifles into the arms of the classic “David” statue from Italy.

The Italian government claims to own the rights to the statue’s likeness and is “offended” by Armalite’s creativity with an image of a public statue.

Apparently the Italians don’t have enough real problems in their country to deal with – like unemployment, deficit government spending, and the list goes on and one.

Illinois Gov. Quinn’s violence prevention money: 7% of one neighborhood’s went directly to single political crony

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 15:15

Dorothy Brown’s husband Benton Cook gives her a big, fat kiss. This wasn’t the kiss he gave her when he received a big payday courtesy of Governor Pat Quinn. He should have kissed the taxpayers of Illinois instead. After all, we’re the ones who got… uh, “taken to the cleaners” on the deal.

Illinois Governor Pat Quinn’s solution to inner-city violent crime doesn’t involve empowering crime-plagued local residents with the tools they can use to defend their homes and protect their families.

No sir.

Instead, our governor finds $54.5 million in our bankrupt state a month before the last gubernatorial election as part of a crime-prevention “Neighborhood Recovery Initiative“, and he gifts it in

HAPPY MONDAY! Bad guys fare poorly against Armed Americans

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 13:00

Do you have the Monday Morning blues?

We can help.

We’ve got some stories that will cheer you right up!

First up: an 81-year-old fella who a neighbor says, “is the kind of guy you don’t mess with”.

It’s Palm Beach Gardens, FL and 81-year-old Rosko Rock has rented a room in his house out to a younger woman.  She’s there with a female friend of hers when the renter’s boyfriend – who has violent tendencies.

Dale Hendrix Reese, 39, was a Billy Badass with the two women after slashing the tire on the girlfriend’s car.

Enter Rosko, who does the right thing by telling Reese to behave or leave.  The enraged boyfriend advances on the old man who explains things to Mr. Reese in a way he has never had them ‘splained to before.

The police say they don’t expect Mr. Reese to survive.  That’s such a shame.

DELICIOUS IRONY: Gun guys permeate audience of anti-gun conference on how to “disrupt the gun lobby”

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 07:53

Shannon Watts, the head Mom Demanding Action (someone point her to the nearest singles bar, will ya?) and her merry band of paid gun control shills, held a conference this past weekend on how to disrupt the “gun lobby”.

It wasn’t well attended.

The delicious irony?

Many of those in attendance were grassroots gun rights activists on the down-low.

One of which even got his picture snapped with little Miss Watts…  while he was packing heat.

Tuesday evening, Rantoul, IL: Former Iranian hostage speaks

Mon, 03/10/2014 - 07:46

Mr. Paul Lewis was a young Marine less than a full day in Iran when the Iranians stormed the US Embassy in Tehran when another feckless U.S. President was at the helm…  Jimmy Carter.

444 days later, Mr. Lewis was released.

He’ll tell his story Tuesday evening in Rantoul at the monthly Guns Save Life meeting.

Join 200-300 of your closest friends (or maybe even a few more) to hear history come to life once again as it so often does at GSL meeting.

Dinner and conversation starts at 5:30 and the meeting business begins at 7pm.

Don’t miss it!

The meeting will be held at the Linden in Rantoul, 220 Wheat Street.

UPDATE:  Almost forgot:  We’re giving away a Glock 42.  See it, feel it, win it!  See you Tuesday night!
