9th Circuit: No Right To Carry Concealed
A divided federal appeals court in California ruled Thursday that there is no constitutional right to carry a concealed handgun, adding to a division among the lower courts on gun rights outside the home.
By a vote of 7-4, the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco upheld a California law that requires gun owners to show a good reason before they can get a license to carry a concealed handgun.
“The protection of the Second Amendment — whatever the scope of that protection may be — simply does not extend to the carrying of concealed firearms in public by members of the general public.”
The court declined to say whether the Constitution protects openly carrying a gun in public. It said that question was not at issue in the case.

Facebook Gun Industry Suppression
Back at the end of February of this year, I noticed a drop in traffic to our website. I watched, but not too closely. This is the slow time of year, after all. A month went by and the drop continued, and it became apparent that this wasn’t an ordinary slump. Something was going on, and it was just a matter of figuring out what that something was.
While digging through Analytics, all signs kept pointing to one location: Facebook. I reached out to my friends Robert and Dan at The Truth About Guns to see if they were seeing similar results. They were.
I got out my little black book and contacted others in the industry, and heard the same story time and time again. It was no coincidence; something was happening on the Facebook end of things, and it was severely hurting our website traffic referrals from the social media giant.
I’ve noticed similar behavior on both the website and the post reach on FB. Read the rest of the article: http://concealednation.org/2016/06/press-release-facebook-actively-suppressing-news-distribution-for-the-gun-industry/
“Under The Gun” Violated Federal Gun Laws
Katie, get your gun lawyer.
By now you’ve probably heard about Katie Couric’s new anti-gun documentary “Under The Gun,” and how her producer doctored video of interviews with gun owners in order to make them look stupid and heartless. Couric’s producer and director, Stephanie Soechtig, admitted to doctoring the video, and Couric herself kinda sorta apologized for it.
But that’s not the worst thing that happened with the making of this documentary. It turns out that Couric’s production team deliberately conspired to violate federal gun laws. According to video obtained by Ammoland, a shooting sports news website, one of Couric’s producers deliberately committed at least four separate felonies by purchasing four separate firearms across state lines without a background check.

Go Home CA Senate, You’re Drunk
Senate and Assembly Democrats “gutted and amended” 4 bills that were stalled and changed them into 4 brand new, ANTI-GUN measures.
“Gutting and amending” is the controversial practice of stripping out a measure’s contents and replacing it with entirely new language, for a new issue, well into the legislative process.
AB 156: Formerly dealt with global warming, but now places restrictions on ammunition and will be authored by Asm. Kevin McCarty and Sen. Kevin deLeón.
AB 857: Formerly addressed greenhouse gasses, but now restricts curios, relics, and home-built firearms. It will be authored my Asm. Jim Cooper and Sen. Kevin de Leon.
AB 1135: Formerly centered around creating the Kings River East Groundwater Sustainability Agency, but is now a broad gun ban. This will now be authored by Assembly members Marc Levine and Phil Ting.
AB 1511: Formerly dealt with energy conservation, but now criminalizes loaning firearms. It is now authored by Asm. Miguel Santiago.

Role Model For The States
I’m just going to go ahead and say a firm no.
A $1,000 per gun tax should serve as a “role model” for states, according to the governor of the U.S. territory of the Northern Mariana Islands, which imposed the $1,000 gun tax earlier this month. An idea first endorsed by Hillary Clinton in 1993, steep gun taxes have now taken hold in Cook County, Ill. the city of Seattle, and now a U.S. territory.
As reported by the Saipan Tribune:
The administration of Gov. Ralph DLG Torres defended the CNMI’s new gun control laws on Friday as a law that could be “a role model” for other U.S. states and jurisdictions facing seemingly uncontrolled and continued gun violence.
The administration was responding to queries regarding its position on recent reports that the a legal challenge to the new law, Public law 19-42, was likely, particularly over a provision that assesses a $1,000 excise tax on pistols.
