What Defines A Quality Optic?
Why are quality optics important for gun owners? What’s the point in spending a hundred dollars, or even a thousand dollars, versus spending twenty five dollars, it’s just a scope right? No, not at all. Purchasing quality optics is important if you are planning to depend on your weapon for hunting, competition, or self-defense, or if you are just a plinker looking to avoid frustration. There are several different factors that are important to a quality optic.

What Makes A Tactical Knife?
Many people consider a “tactical knife” similar to a “regular” knife. But this is isn’t necessarily true. Is there not a difference between a “Combat Handgun” and a “regular” hand gun? There definitely is.

...A Reporter Who Gets It
An Atlanta news anchor nails it when explaining what the actual purpose of the Second Amendment is and why the Founding Fathers thought it was so important.
Ben Swann, host of CBS 46’s show “Reality Check,” explained on Monday that the right to bear arms isn’t just about hunting or personal protection; it’s about preventing the government turning on its own people.

The 12 Golden rules for Safe Gun Handling
I read this over on the Evans Brothers Guns and Shooting Range Facebook page this morning. While we all know the rules, it’s always good for a reminder from time to time.
- Always treat the gun as loaded.
- Always keep the gun pointed in a safe direction.
- Always keep your finger straight and off the trigger until you are ready to shoot.
- Always keep the gun unloaded until you are ready to use it.
- Never point the gun at anything you don’t intend to destroy.
- Be sure of your target and what is beyond it.
- Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the gun you are using.
- Always use proper ammunition.
- Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before loading and shooting.
- If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, hold your shooting position for several seconds; then with the muzzle pointed in a safe direction, carefully unload the gun.
- Don’t rely on the gun’s safety to keep it from firing.
- Be aware of your surroundings when handling guns so you don’t trip or lose your balance and accidentally point and/or fire the gun at anyone or anything.

Learning To Love Shotguns
“You’re standing in your bedroom doorway in your underwear in the middle of the night. At the end of a seven-yard hallway, an intruder is holding your son hostage with a knife to his throat. You have a shotgun or a pistol available. Which do you choose? Go!”
I’m on the phone with a former handgun student and good friend. She made the mistake of answering my phone call, and I haven’t even given her time to say hello. She makes a sound—an exasperated laugh of surprise—but she answers.
“Pistol,” she says.
“Why?” I ask.
“Because it’s what I’ve had the most training on.”
Having been her instructor, I know exactly what kind of training she’s had, and how much.
I asked, “At that distance, with your current skill level, do you feel confident you could make that shot on demand with your handgun?”
She hesitates, then answers, “No.”
“Would you take the shot at all?”
“Probably not. No.”
“What if I told you that, with less training, you could consistently and confidently make that shot with buckshot, from a shotgun?”
She scoffed, “I’d say, ‘Show me.’”

How To Protect Your Hearing When Shooting

This means that citizens who exercise their Second Amendment rights no longer have to pay a tax to protect their hearing while doing so! You can read more about the Hearing Protection Act here.
