TrackingPoint Restructures & Relaunches

Thu, 09/17/2015 - 14:43

Back in May, things were looking grim for Austin-based TrackingPoint. The company, which manufactures Linux-powered smart rifles capable of nailing moving targets more than a thousand yards away, had posted a notice on its website saying that it stopped taking new orders. Multiple news sites began publishing stories saying that TrackingPoint had laid off half of its employees and was on the verge of filing for bankruptcy.

The SilencerCo Maxim In Depth

Thu, 09/17/2015 - 11:25

This was a great read, and makes me genuinely excited about what SilencerCo has for us in the coming year!

SilencerCo recently hosted an event called Maxim Vice. They released four new products, all of which were impressive and one of which surprised us all.
Traveling down to Key West Florida, I had a few ideas on what SilencerCo might be releasing. Shooting their revolutionary shotgun suppressor, the Salvo 12, last year left me with more than a few suspicions regarding what they might’ve been working on. For instance, the stackable, user configurable design of the Salvo 12 would lend itself well to other silencers, but…

Honestly I did not hear this coming.

Joshua Waldron, Silencerco’s CEO, performed the product unveiling on stage Monday night. The theme of this year’s release was a throwback to the 1980s, specifically the Miami Vice television series. Waldron stood with four clear display cases, uncovering one at a time to talk about each new product.

Crisco Gun

Wed, 09/16/2015 - 14:31

…And the internet explodes.

I do not use Crisco on my guns, and do not use FireClean on my guns. So I don’t really have a dog in this fight.

SilencerCo Maxim 9

Wed, 09/16/2015 - 08:31

The biggest announcement at Maxim Vice was the reveal of the Maxim 9 – an integrally suppressed 9mm pistol. Never before has a company successfully managed to produce a handgun with an integral silencer that is holsterable and hearing safe with any factory ammunition. This product is primed to take the industry by storm, and we’re proud to to show it to you – our loyal SilencerCo supporters – first.

We’re keeping exact product details under wraps since it is still in the final design stages, but one thing is certain – the Maxim 9 will forever change the way people think about firearms when they realize that there is no longer any reason guns have to be loud.

The folks at FireClean responded…

And Andrew had a little more today…

Have you used FireClean? If so, what were your results? I personally do not have any experience with this product. A friend has noted good results with his firearms and suppressors when using FireClean.

Cognitive Dissonance

If you legally own a firearm in Boston, expect to be hearing from the mayor and police commissioner soon.

Boston Mayor Marty Walsh and Police Commissioner William Evans announced Wednesday that they’re taking new measures to try and reduce gun violence.

“We must think creatively in order to reduce the amount of illegal guns and violence on our streets,” Walsh said.

The city will also reach out to gun vendors about preventing illegal firearm sales.

Pressuring those that legally abide by Massachusetts law will do little to any to affect illegal activities.

Cuomo: Those Against Gun Control “Delusional”

Wed, 09/09/2015 - 10:12

Call me delusional then. The thing is, gun control is never about a gun — it is always about control.

A personal tragedy and Gov. Andrew Cuomo’s gun-control policies collided Monday as the governor expressed outrage over the shooting of one of his former aides in the early morning hours before the West Indian American Day Carnival parade.

Cuomo spoke with reporters before the parade Monday about how helpless he feels in the wake of the tragedy, which gravely injured attorney Carey Gabay, 43, and how anyone who doesn’t believe federal gun control laws are needed is “delusional.”
