History’s Greatest Shots Revealed
While the movie American Sniper and its depiction of former US Navy SEAL Chris Kyle are getting all the plaudits from film and television awards, we look back through history to see how snipers of times gone by fare against the modern day hero.
Once considered a pariah of battle by friend and foe alike, adopting camouflage to hide from, and then suddenly ambush, enemies – their methods were seen as sly and underhand. Snipers have evolved however, to become the ideal soldier for the modern battlefield, a specialist in 21st century combat. Highly dedicated and specially trained, a marksmans’ task is now seen as indispensable for the safety of their fellow soldiers in the field.
While there have been countless prolific snipers in military history, we take a look back at some of history’s best. The following list expectedly includes those individuals with the longest confirmed distance in which enemies were taken down, the kill count for those caught between the crosshairs of the past’s deadliest marksmen, but also those which offer unique stories and backgrounds.

Considers as a banned hazardous product under the Consumer Product Safety Act: (1) any firearm receiver casting or firearm receiver blank (do-it-yourself assault weapon) that does not meet the definition of a firearm under the federal criminal code at the point of sale but that can be completed after purchase by the consumer to function as a firearm frame or receiver for a semiautomatic assault weapon or machine gun, or (2) an assault weapon parts kit or machine gun parts kit.
Makes it unlawful to market or advertise any of such weapons for sale on any medium of electronic communications, including over the Internet. Requires marketing or advertising violations to be treated as unfair or deceptive acts or practices under the Federal Trade Commission Act.

Tech Used For Stroke Victims Now Helping Soldiers Shoot Straight
Researchers at the US Army Research Lab are testing a carbon-fiber exoskeleton arm originally developed to assist in the rehabilitation of stroke victims as a way to help stabilize firearms and allow soldiers to aim them more accurately. The Mobile Arm eXoskeleton for Firearm Aim Stabilization (MAXFAS) project has thus far only been used in static testing with external hardware, but experiments have shown that it can help improve the aim of soldiers with handguns even after they’ve stopped wearing it.

Commonly used and unregulated internet discussions and videos about guns and ammo could be closed down under rules proposed by the State Department, amounting to a “gag order on firearm-related speech,” the National Rifle Association is warning.
In updating regulations governing international arms sales, State is demanding that anyone who puts technical details about arms and ammo on the web first get the OK from the federal government — or face a fine of up to $1 million and 20 years in jail.

ATF Rule 1140-AA43
The Department of Justice is planning to finalize a proposed rule to amend the regulations of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) regarding the making or transferring of a firearm under the National Firearms Act. As proposed, the rule would; (1) add a definition for the term “responsible person”; (2) require each responsible person of a corporation, trust or legal entity to complete a specified form, and to submit photographs and fingerprints; and (3) modify the requirements regarding the certificate of the chief law enforcement officer (CLEO).
