Video: “Bear Bathtub” Caught on Trailcam
Looking at most bears, you wouldn't think that personal hygiene is exactly a priority for these large animals. However, photographers working with National Geographic recently documented a pool in Yellowstone National Park that grizzlies have been using to take baths. Actual---albeit muddy---baths.
Scientists from the park first discovered the pool several years ago when a collared bear managed to slip off their radio collar in the area. Ever since, researchers kept their eyes on the "bathtub" to see what antics the bears got up to. It seems that bears are creatures of habit, and...
Video: Is This the World’s Fastest Semi-auto Shotgun?
While there have been no official tests on the matter, the Fostech Origin 12 may be a contender for one of the fastest semi-automatic shotguns out there. True, the practicality of a high-speed shotgun may be dubious---hence the relative scarcity of full-auto shotguns like the AA-12---but this slug thrower shoots like a beast. Eric from Iraqveteran8888 gives this rundown on the shotgun. Of course, no introduction to this high-end firearm would be complete without the Salvo 12 suppressor from SilencerCo, which drastically cut down on the...

...Video: The Pioneer Airbow Downs Deer on the Spot
There's a lot of buzz around Crosman's category-shattering new product. the Pioneer Airbow. Neither a bow nor a rifle, the Pioneer is in a class of its own, and that draws both interest and skepticism. By now, you've probably read up on the airbow's specs and perhaps even saw that video where Jim Shockey downs a buffalo with a single shot, but...

What are some of the favorite guns of the man with the lightning finger? You won't believe his #2!

"This is a situation every back country traveller [sic] never wants to experience. I was down wind of the bear and looking down hill at Dusty who was still hiking up," he wrote in the video's description. "The bear was apparently approaching to...

Video: Large Mysterious Object Spotted in the River Thames
People love a good monster story. A video recorded in late March by a cable car passenger in Greenwich, UK recently went viral. It appeared to show some kind of large object or creature surfacing in the River Thames before sinking back below the water's surface. Those who have seen the video speculate that it could have been some sort of marine animal, like a whale, or perhaps a military vessel like submarine. British media reached out to biologists in an attempt to explain the phenomenon, but was met with a collective shrug.
“We are not aware of anything that large and moving in the...

Hi-Point Now Has Higher Capacity Magazines
Press release from MKS Supply LLC
Hi-Point 9mm (Model 995) carbines are known for their robust construction, accuracy, reliability, and affordability.
The only "problem": The 9mm Hi-Point OEM magazines hold 10 rounds. For engineering reasons and due to the huge volume of sales of the 9mm carbine with the 10-round magazine, there were no plans by Hi-Point to make a higher capacity magazine.
The Solution: The Redball, a one-piece, 20-round, single-stack magazine for the Hi-Point carbine. This great-looking articulated magazine fits and feeds...
Video: Bear Sits Down Next to Shocked Photographer
While photographing brown bears at the McNeil River State Game Sanctuary and Refuge, Drew Hamilton got a little closer to one furry friend than he may have liked. Hamilton worked with the Alaska Department of Fish and Game at the time and was at the refuge to observe and photograph the animals.
During the video, one of the brown bears comes right up to Hamilton, but the bear doesn’t seem interested in attacking him. Read more »
Video: Why Muzzleloader Powder Safety is Important
By design pyrodex pellets are highly flammable, and it's a good idea to keep them away from possible sources of ignition.
This muzzleloader shooter seems to have forgotten that fact. He was shooting a muzzleloader, which is a great ignition source, over the top of an open box of pyrodex pellets. A spark hit the pellets causing them to rapidly burn. This is why eye protection and common sense are important.

Hidden in Plain Sight: The Disguised Firearm
If it looks like a duck…but wait. Let’s look at firearms that don’t look like guns at all. They’re on display at the NRA National Firearms Museum in Fairfax, Virginia. Maybe there are additional disguised firearms out-and-about among us, but we’re just not seeing them…(cue the Twilight Zone music).
Introduced by Remington in the mid-1800s, one disguised firearm definitely blended into one’s environment. A cane was common accessory for a gentleman, even if he were able bodied. It wasn’t so much about walking stability, though if...
Video: Jordan Shipley’s New Elk Milk Venture
Jordan Shipley, former NFL player and current hunting show host, announced on April 1 his newest business venture: Melk. It's a clever brand name for elk milk, which Shipley had apparently spent years developing. Now, in conjunction with YETI, Shipley announced that he will be bringing Melk to the masses.
"Johnny Appleseed brought apples and cider to the frontier, Elvis Presley brought rock n' roll to the people. My plan is to bring Melk to the masses," Shipley said in the video below. "Or at least to the Austin South Side farmer's market."
According to a press release, YETI will be...
First Look: The Casio Smart Outdoor Watch
Most smart watches can’t take the abuse that outdoorsmen dish out. With that need in mind Casio created the Smart Outdoor Watch (WSD-F10) that's as rugged as you are.
The first thing you will notice is that the Smart Outdoor Watch is bigger than your average smart watch. That's because it's packing some serious features into a watch that's Military standard MIL-STD-810G rated and water resistant up to 50 meters. With that being said the watch does not feel big nor does it look out of the ordinary on an...
Video: How Not To Spear Hunt a Water Buffalo
Water buffaloes can be pretty dangerous when provoked. Most people would try to stay far away from them, but not Buck.
Tim Wells posted this video of his friend Buck hunt attempting to hunt a water Buffalo with a spear. Buck was able to sneak up within spear range without spooking the animal, but his aim was a little off. The spear flew low and embedded itself into the tree. Buck was able to grab another spear and throw it before the water Buffalo was out of range, but that one missed too.
Even though he missed you have to commend Buck for his...
Video: Florida Woman Runs into Mountain Lion on Bridge
If you live in cougar territory and you enjoy hiking, there's a good chance that you've been close to a mountain lion and didn't even notice. Cougars are notoriously stealthy cats, and have on occasion given the odd hiker or hunter the scare of their lives. Yet in Florida, the cougar---or panther, as some call it---population is quite slim. That makes this encounter in the Corkscrew Swamp Sanctuary all the more unexpected. On Facebook, Tina Dorschel posted this video of her walking on what appeared to be an elevated path or bridge when she was suddenly faced with a running mountain lion....
