The fight is on.  You’re shooting and you’re getting shot at.  The distance and terrain are such that going prone seems like a reasonable option.  The $65,000-question is when is it a good time to assume this shooting position?

Judge Richard Matsch suggests that Brady targeted the retailers because of the high-profile incident and not because they were explicitly malicious. In the initial complaint, Brady claimed Lucky Gunner, the Sportman’s Guide and BTP Arms failed to properly vet James Holmes before they sold him items he would later use to kill 12 and wound 70 inside a movie theater in Aurora, Colorado. Along with Brady, parents of one of a victim killed in the shooting also signed on as plaintiffs.

Authorities in Arkansas apprehended a fugitive who had been on the run for several days, but when they found him at a Little Rock hotel late Tuesday night, he was wearing a T-shirt that was oh so appropriate. The words on the shirt read, “You can run, but you can’t hide.”

Tieren Watson, 26, was wanted for the June 13 shooting which left a woman in serious condition. Watson, who is already a convicted felon, attempted to run from the task force and federal marshals who apprehended him but could not hide. He now faces multiple charges, including battery, aggravated assault, and weapons possession.

Gun control advocates get hung up on a fascinating mix of strange fixations.  As I’ve mentioned before, some claim that we owe criminals a fair fight, by which they mean an even chance to win the conflict.  Then there are the outright howlers, such as the assertion that they don’t want to take our guns or that they care only about safety.  But one telling accusation that’s been floating around for a while has caught my attention, namely the belief that the NRA represents the interests of gun manufacturers, not gun owners.
