Protesters attack NY cops when they try to stop them from throwing trashcans at people (VIDEO)
A group protesting the decisions surrounding the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases took to the Brooklyn Bridge to voice their outrage Saturday night. As part of the demonstration, protesters tossed trash cans at unsuspecting pedestrians walking below the bridge.
But when officers attempted to intervene, the crowd reacted with violent force, and the officers were repeatedly separated as they tried to subdue the crowd.
Two officers were injured during the melee, including one whose nose was broken.
“We do not take attacks on police officers lightly,” Police Commissioner William Bratton said Monday.
