The midterm elections came up in favor of the Republicans with GOP candidates winning a majority in the Senate as well as capturing and maintaining key gubernatorial races while a controversial background check initiative in Washington State was approved by voters.

The Washington measure requiring background checks on all purchases or transfers of guns passed by almost 60 percent during the state’s general elections Tuesday evening. Though proponents of Initiative 594 called the race early, the last precinct, Whitman County, didn’t report its results until about 9:14 p.m. The New York Times called a victory for 594 at about 9:05 p.m.

Every week, Texas Rep. Ron Paul records his weekly column on a voicemail connected to an 800 number. On Nov. 3 Paul discussed renewed calls for gun control following tragic shootings in Canada and Washington state, which enable the “gun control lobby to smear Second Amendment supporters as ‘pro-terrorist.'”

Organizers of the 28th Annual Guns ‘N Hoses boxing event to benefit the families of Missouri emergency responders killed in the line of duty have announced this year’s event will be postponed due to unrest in Ferguson.

The event pits firefighters and police officers from area departments against each other in the squared circle. The boxing matches are typically scheduled at Scottrade Center on the Wednesday night before Thanksgiving every year, but not this year.

Last year the event drew in nearly 17,000 fight fans. Coordinators stressed that the event has been postponed and not cancelled, but they’re unsure what day the event will take place.

The midterm elections are here and while there aren’t many ballot measures relating to gun rights or gun control, special interests are pouring money into states to back — or oppose — politicians who are decidedly on either side of the gun debate.

Chris Harris and his fiancé, CC Roxby, were coming from church one Saturday evening around 8:30pm in Wheeling, West Virginia.  Nine men were following them.  According to Harris, they said were going to rape his girlfriend and cut him.  Roxby pulled her gun. Harris grabbed Roxby’s handgun.  One of the men kept advancing.  Roxby called 911, and Harris fired the gun into the air.  Harris was later arrested for wanton endangerment.

Four people with ties to a doomsday survivalist group in Florida were sentenced by a federal judge on Friday on various gun-related charges, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

It takes a bit of time to get a deer from woods to table, but David at Peach Orchard Deer Processing out of Dalzell, South Carolina, makes haste of such work, skinning and gutting an entire deer in one minute and 48 seconds flat.
