Literally ‘shooting’ pool in the most dangerous game of billiards (VIDEO)
Ricochets? What’s a ricochet, asks the DemolitionRanch crew as they substitute a baseball for a cue ball in a very ballistic game of billiards.
Sure, they have eye and ear pro, and billiard balls are generally phenolic resin which is just a hard plastic and they allow some space for possible bounce back, so there is at least a smattering of safety– but you still probably shouldn’t try this at home.
Or your local pool hall.
Still, you have to admit, it looks fun and the baseball takes a pretty good beating while still keeping on a roll. It’s just hard to get good English.

Piles of guns to be auctioned of by GA sheriff (VIDEO)
For the first time, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office in Georgia will be auctioning off piles of seized firearms thanks to a new law requiring them to do so.
The auction, which will also include cars, heavy equipment and other items, will begin at 9 a.m. Sept. 10. Among the 60 guns to be auctioned this go-around – some previously seized, others once used by the police department – are a Remington 870 12-gauge pump shotgun, a World War II-era M1 Carbine, a Savage Model 110 and a 30.06 bolt-action rifle. There are also scores of handguns and other long guns as well.
Guns previously held for evidence that are no longer needed will be melted down with other scrap metal if they go unclaimed and unsold.

Working the negative space in firearms drills (VIDEO)
The VSO Gun Channel walks you through easy training using negative space in an otherwise standard target.
The concept of embracing the negative space can help a shooter’s focus during drills and, as long as you are on target, the only holes you should see are the ones you cut in. If you are out of your negative space, it will be immediately obvious.
Drawbacks are that bad guys don’t typically have a lot of negative space, and if you are wildly off target and throwing lead several feet away from the stand, you could get the mistaken impression that you are kind of a bad ass, when instea you are just kinda ass.

Splitting cards, the .50 BMG way (VIDEO)
With the thickness of a playing card being just 0.03 inches or less, Richard from FullMag tried his hand at splitting one on the lead up to a trip to Vegas.
“It’s one of those trick shots that for 22Plinkster or something like that, that’s super challenging because he is shooting a .22 caliber bullet– usually with iron sights– at a fairly decent distance,” he says. “Me, I’m just shooting a .50 cal.”
Still, it’s kinda cool.

How many shotgun trick shots can you pack in 7 minutes? (VIDEO)
The Gould Brothers, just two brothers into exhibition shooting, join up with Dude Perfect for some wild trick shots.
Some are impractical, some are “come on, man, srsly,” some are kinda neat, and then some are just really impressive.
Plus, they roll a Demo Ranch shout out with a bunch of shotgun shell reloads that will make you want to raid the kitchen for toothpicks.
And the shotgun propelled raft is just funny. I mean, unless you are a fish.

Cabela’s announces online gun sales program
Outdoor retailer Cabela’s announced Monday a new program that allows customers to order a gun from its website and have it shipped for free to a nearby location.
Cabela’s, based in Sidney, Nebraska, said the program will give customers access to new handguns and long guns, and ensures better product availability.
In April, the retailer reported strong gun sales in its first quarter despite a slight decrease, one percentage point, in gun sales for fiscal year 2015. Still, the company raked in $4 billion in 2015, up by $350 million.

DIY concealment shelves made easy (VIDEO)
Grant Thompson, “The King of Random,” makes a trip to the home improvement store and puts together a pretty decent looking stealth shelf.
He uses a 1″x12″ common board along with some crown molding, finishing nails and some hardwood emboss rope. Some work on a chop saw later and a set of cabinet hinges and coat of sealant gets you a shelf with a hidden compartment. Some rare earth magnet switches help secure the shelf. Diamond plate accents give it some swag appeal.
Cost: $35.
The gun shown in the vid is a Glock then a Japanese airsoft HK, but your mileage may vary.
Of course as a disclaimer, always remember proper firearms safety and security.

Getting muddy with a Japanese Type 38 Arisaka (VIDEO)
Ian and Karl with InRange TV give the standard Japanese infantry rifle a mud bath in the name of science to test reliability under “typical” WWI/WWII field conditions.
InRange has been testing the classic bolt-action rifles of the 20th Century over the past several weeks by slathering them in a mud pie and it was brainstormed that the 6.5mm Type 38, which came with a dust cover as standard, may do better than some.
And (spoiler alert) it looks like they were on to something.

Guy pulls gun, then gets bigger gun pulled on him (VIDEO)
Video captured from a surveillance camera outside of a gas station shows a confrontation between two men that likely didn’t go exactly as one man planned.
The two men pass at the door and the first guy clutched a handgun near his waistband. But guy number two remained perfectly calm, walked to his car, then walked back around with a bigger gun. All of the sudden, the first guy wasn’t quite so tough and, in fact, tripped backwards trying to get away from the guy with the bigger gun.

Can you kill a baseball with a .50 cal? (VIDEO)
In an effort to give the people what they want, the FullMag gang acquiesced to viewer requests to see what a bullet will do to a baseball.
They start off at the low end of the ballistic spectrum with a .22LR, then turn the volume up to 11 by tapping in a Barrett .50.
BTW, just five weeks till the start of the MLB post-season.

R&D with a .50 BMG bolt-action ‘pistol’ (VIDEO)
Hank Strange meets with Safety Harbor’s Walter Keller II who breaks out a a very dramatic range toy: a pistol-grip SHTF .50 BMG Pistol.
Safety Harbor is known for their Kompact Entry Gun: reworked Mossberg 500s and Remington 870s classed as an AOW with a $5 tax stamp and compact barrels that go all the way down to 7-inches in length.
Stepping up from their typical 12 gauge fodder, the SHTF .50 is a neat object with a 12-inch barrel, bolt action and left-side loading box magazine. For what it is, recoil isn’t that bad, though the abbreviated barrel drops your velo down a bit on the big .50 cal pill.
Why build one? Why not? File under, “This is everything I never knew I wanted.”

Olympic pole vaulter stops mid-run for national anthem (VIDEO)
An amazing show of respect and patriotism was captured on camera during a qualifying round of the Olympics.
Sam Kendricks, United States Army 2LT, is a track and field athlete who was in the middle of qualifying for the pole vault when the national anthem started to play. Instead of finishing his run, Kendricks stopped and stood at attention.

How much wood could a .308 chuck if a .308 could chuck wood (VIDEO)
Matt on DemolitionRanch had a stack of scrap wood left over from a project and decided to test just how much treated lumber a .308 Win could zip through.
Starting off with the a standard FMJ round, he keeps piling the lumber on the 2x2s and 4x4s as well as some 1-bys to try to find the magic stopping point.
Who needs a wood chuck.

Going through the ups and downs of 20+ different AR15 mags in 6 minutes (VIDEO)
From the common STANAG, HKs and PMAGs to such brands as Thermold, Hexmag, MSAR, Easymag, Troy, CAA Countdown and Plinker Tac, YouTuber mpk1414 walks you through their experience.
Of course, your mileage may vary and they have a dim view of polymer mags, but they generally have links to torture test videos (turn annotations on) for in-depth mag tests for each of these.
Apparently, it took them three years to run through all these.

Armed clerk takes out robber along with fire extinguisher (VIDEO)
Footage from a security camera showed an attempted robbery last week that didn’t exactly go as planned.
Armed with a gun, the suspect walked into the store, but before he even reached the counter, the clerk stepped out and opened fire, striking the suspect as well as a nearby fire extinguisher. Once the smoke cleared, the robber can be seen lying on the floor and does not appear to be moving. Moments later, what looked to be a law enforcement officer walked through the door.
The entire incident lasted less than a minute, but the clerk clearly – and quickly – had the upper hand.

Hickok on the Bond-less Walther P99AS (VIDEO)
Somehow Hickok45 managed to roll 20 minutes of beautiful parabellum footage on Walther’s P99AS pistol without dropping a Bond reference.
The P99 has been pretty standard in Carl Walther GmbH Sportwaffen’s stable since 1996 and are made under license by a number of other manufacturers. The Anti Stress (AS) trigger variant which Hick has adds a slightly different twist to DA/SA triggers.
As such it is slightly different from the variant used by Brit super-spy James Bond in Casino Royale before the follow-on Quantum of Solace marked the return of the Walther PPK.
Which maybe why Hickok didn’t drop the 007 reference…except in the repeated ode to Independence Day in a video posted in August.
Hey…..

Steven Crowder runs gun control buzzword experiment (VIDEO)
Setting up a booth as the “Citizens Committee for Commonsense Gun Control” the commentator live trolls passersby with buzzwords to take the temperature of the man on the street for gun confiscation.
Camouflaged with flannel and hipster glasses, Crowder tosses up scary black rifles next to some more innocuous hunting guns to discern the common fudd from the firearms prohibitionist.
The secret, Crowder contends, is in the spin.
Wood and metal, 30.06, lever action, .357, hunting gun, handgun et. al = “All good”
AR-15, Uzi, tactical, armor piercing, multi-clip = “Nobody needs a fully semi-automatic rifle.”
Hey, it’s just commonsense.

Milsurp gem: The Hungarian PA-63 pistol (VIDEO)
The alloy-framed FEG PA-63 dates back to the bad old days of the Cold War and is a little recognized but easily acquired blowback-action pistol.
As reviewed by Eric with IV8888 above, the PA-63 was a single-stack Makarov PM/Walther PPK-ish pistol that used aluminum to speed up manufacturing for a weapon that was designed to be “carried often and shot rarely” and was used by Hungarian police and military for generations. While some are chambered in .32ACP and .380, the one used by Eric is a more commonly encountered 9x18mm Makarov.
And it’s kinda cool in an Eastern Bloc way– and he trusts it enough to carry it on a semi-regular basis.

Rummage through your junk drawer and make a mini-matchstick gun (VIDEO)
The Mr.Gear YouTube channel walks you through turning a pencil, a couple inches of wire, 9V battery and connector, and two screws into a pocket matchstick launcher.
Of course you also need access to a drill, soldering gun, and a glue gun– but odds are you probably have all of these somewhere in the house or can find them.
Using the pencil as a tube, the 9V is an electrical ignition to some Armstrong’s mixture (borrowed in this case from cap gun caps) and you can get creative with the matchstick projectiles. Could probably launch toothpicks as well, but the splinter factor could suck.
