FN Unveils The FN SCAR 15P 300 Blackout

Mon, 10/28/2024 - 15:00

FN has announced the highly anticipated SCAR 15P chambered in .300 Blackout, a SCAR pistol that makes much more sense to shooters than the original 7.5-inch barrel release in 5.56x45mm. The platform debuted in late 2022 as a civilian alternative to the SCAR SC personal defense weapon.

At just under 20 inches in overall length with its 7.5-inch cold hammer-forged and chrome-lined barrel, the SCAR 15P 300BLK incorporates the more recent SCAR tradition of non-reciprocating charging handles.

Giffords, Anti-Gunners Change Their Messaging to Match Changing Crime Stats

Mon, 10/28/2024 - 13:00

By Larry Keane

National gun control activists are having a hard time keeping their messaging to the American people straight ahead of the Nov. 5 election. Giffords Courage to Fight Gun Violence is only the latest example and the breathless hyperbole and hypocrisy coming out of their press releases and campaign emails makes it abundantly clear. They are hypocrites.

The presidential election is razor thin as early voting has started across the country and the campaigns are making their closing pitches to undecided voters.

2nd Circuit Court Rules For New York In “Sensitive Places” Carry Ban Lawsuit

Mon, 10/28/2024 - 11:00

Gun rights advocates looking to overturn New York’s “sensitive places” law have suffered a big loss in a Manhattan courtroom.

The 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals ruled on Thursday in Antonyuk et al. v. James that the law banning people from carrying weapons in locations such as schools, parks, theaters and bars is constitutional under the Second Amendment. The court also declared constitutional the state’s restrictive “good moral character” requirement for getting a concealed carry permit.

Is the .380 Good for Self-Defense? Everything You Need to Know

Sun, 10/27/2024 - 08:00

The .380 ACP has sparked debate among firearms enthusiasts for years, with some dismissing it as underpowered and others championing its compact, easy-to-handle nature.

For those seeking a self-defense caliber that’s both concealable and effective, the .380 remains a viable option.

But how good is it, really?

Key Takeaway

The .380 ACP can be effective for self-defense, but it’s generally considered less powerful than the 9mm. While it offers lower recoil and may be easier to control for some shooters, the 9mm provides better penetration and wound channels, making it more reliable for stopping a threat.

Gun Review – The Savage Rascal

Sat, 10/26/2024 - 08:00

When my six-year-old son looked at me and said he wanted a rifle, I went and got him a rifle. I’m a big proponent of starting them young and teaching safe gun handling, basic marksmanship and the joy of putting alittle piece of lead into a big target. There is a fairly competent market for small rifles designed to teach smaller shooters how to safely shoot. I shopped around a bit and eventually settled on a Savage Rascal.

Ohio Woman Fatally Shoots Man In The Groin Upon Request

Fri, 10/25/2024 - 10:30

In a true example of the old saying, “be careful what you wish for,” an elderly Ohio woman has been accused of fatally shooting a man in the groin, which is hard to type without clenching up and making a face, but I digress. What makes this story uncomfortably strange, yes, aside from the junk shot, is the incident allegedly occurred while she was joking with the victim and he requested she take the shot.

Democrat Media Op Gone Wrong: Candidate Shoots Reporter

Thu, 10/24/2024 - 17:16

When candidates run for office in rural districts, they naturally want to prove they’re just like the voters they seek to represent. But things often don’t go as planned when they’re just posing as everyday gun owners.

Such was the case in Missouri recently when Democrat Lucas Kunce, a candidate for U.S. Senate, and former congressmen turned CNN commentator Adam Kinzinger held a media event at a private range near Holt, Missouri. With media in tow, Kunce, who is trying to unseat Republican U.S.

Is Banning Fake Guns South Africa’s Next Step?

Thu, 10/24/2024 - 11:00

What’s a gun-hating government to do if they pretty much ban guns but violent criminals continue plying their trade of robbery, rape and assault? In South Africa, banning replica guns—many of them nothing more than kids’ toys—just might be the next move.

According to a report at iol.co.za, that’s what Cape Town Provincial Thembisile Patekile wants to see the legislature do after a spate of thugs using fake guns to commit real crimes has made his job harder.

Thu, 10/24/2024 - 07:00

We’ve reported recently how Massachusetts’ sweeping new anti-gun law, launched early by an emergency preamble attached to it by Gov. Maura Healey, is facing a lot of pushback from pro-freedom groups.

Not only have two lawsuits already been filed to challenge the law in court, but an initiative petition to get a question on the 2026 state ballot to repeal the law already has more than the 90,000 signatures needed to put the matter to the vote.

Girsan Regard MC: Turkish M9 Clone Review

Wed, 10/23/2024 - 15:00

The Beretta M9, the US military’s adopted version of the Beretta 92FS, was adopted amid a flurry of controversy during the acquisitions process. Despite some growing pains (and slides flying off), the M9 eventually grew into a long serving sidearm, familiar to any who served from the mid 80s through early GWOT. Consider it no surprise that there’s a nostalgic market for these guns, not to mention the usual run of shooters looking for a quality firearm.

Armed Citizen Stops A Man Trying To Run Over Three People

Wed, 10/23/2024 - 13:00

In yet another example of how people bent on mayhem and murder will find any way to accomplish their evil plans, a Columbus, Ohio, man has been arrested after allegedly attempting to run over three people with his vehicle following an argument. Sure, who hasn’t thought this was the best way to resolve a conflict? Fortunately, in yet another shining example, it was ultimately an armed citizen who stopped it from happening.

Alexander Oglesby, 32, of Northeast Columbus reportedly drove his car onto the front lawn of a residence in the 1800 block of Noe Bixby Road in the early morning hours of October 5.

Colorado Ballot Initiative Would Put 6.5% “Sin Tax” On Guns, Ammo

Wed, 10/23/2024 - 10:00

Few things are more frustrating to lawful gun owners than politicians trying to fund one government program or another by placing additional taxes on them, even though they played no hand whatsoever in causing the problem being addressed.

Such is the case in Colorado where a ballot initiative would place an additional 6.5% excise tax on the retail sale of firearms, firearm parts and ammunition to fund domestic violence programs in the state.
