Opposition Building to Illinois Gun Ban, Magazine Capacity Limit Bill

Thu, 12/15/2022 - 10:00

Here in the Land of Lincoln, the political leadership has a ravenous, insatiable appetite for gun control while simultaneously coddling violent criminals (see the cash bill abolition law that will take effect January 1).

The legislature is bound and determined to test the limits of the Supreme Court’s Bruen ruling and has introduced House Bill 5855 which would not only ban Americans’ favorite rifle and millions more like it, it would also effectively ban the best-selling self defense handguns and limit magazine capacity.

There Are Things We Can Do to Prevent Mass Shootings and Make Them Less Deadly

Wed, 12/14/2022 - 16:00

By Rob Morse

What can be done to stop more mass murderers in the United States? That question comes to mind since President Biden recently claimed we need to massively disarm honest US citizens in order to stop mass shootings.

Instead of accepting the President’s words at face value, I looked at what the experts say. There are many questions we might ask and lots of facts we can consider. We do a range of things today to stop violence in the US.

Obscure Object of Desire: Charter Arms Bulldog .44 Special Revolver

Wed, 12/14/2022 - 12:00

A little company called Charter Arms started life in 1964, producing affordable revolvers. As you might imagine, in 1964, revolvers were the hot business to get into. The founder, Doug McClenahan, had plenty of experience with six-guns after a career at Colt, Ruger, and High Standard.

The first gun produced by Charter Arms was the Undercover, a snub nose .38 Special. However, the gun they became most known for was the Bulldog.

Charter Arms wasn’t just copying other firearm designs, they were innovating.

Las Vegas Police Arrest Accomplice After Woman Disarms, Then Shoots One of Three Carjackers

Wed, 12/14/2022 - 10:00

Carjackings have skyrocketed in urban areas across America, especially those with “progressive,” Soros-funded prosecutors. In Las Vegas last month, a pair of ‘jackers tried to steal a ride from two women. One of the two noticed her chance and snatched the carjacker’s momentarily unattended pistol, and then ran.

Criminals don’t like it much when their victims relieve them of their firearms. So the robber chased her, then tackled her.

The woman then shot him in the head and he let go.

Singer: Let’s Stop Tiptoeing Around the Issue and Move to Repeal the Second Amendment

Wed, 12/14/2022 - 08:00

It is time to talk about repealing the Second Amendment.

Too many gun safety advocates take precisely the wrong approach by tiptoeing around the Second Amendment, meekly reassuring that they only seek very limited reforms. This cautious approach defines the margins of public debate, and therefore the range of possibilities, far too narrowly. Rather, the very existence of a loud argument about the larger issue of repeal will make those incremental proposals seem more moderate, and therefore ultimately more achievable.

Justice: ATF Jails 74-Year-Old Florida Man for Selling Guns at Flea Markets

Tue, 12/13/2022 - 11:00

By Lee Williams

Charles “Chuck” Palmatier will serve one year and a day in a federal prison for selling guns at the Volusia Flea Market in Deland, Florida without a Federal Firearm License.

According to a press release, the ATF first warned Palmatier that he needed to stop selling guns without an FFL.

“According to court documents, on July 28, 2021, agents with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) met with Palmatier and explained that if he wanted to continue to sell firearms he would have to apply for a Federal Firearms License (FFL).”

Palmatier, the ATF claims, ignored the agents’ warning.

Concealed carry weapon permits are issued by Sheriff Carlos Bolanos, who lost re-election in June. Bolanos has been the top law enforcement officer in the county since 2016.

According to public records obtained and analyzed by the I-Team, the majority of people who applied for a license under Sheriff Bolanos didn’t get one. Roughly a quarter of applicants did.

“Application was denied,” said David Lipin, a 25-year veteran disaster response worker.

Gun Review: Tisas USA PX-9 Gen 3 Tactical Threaded Pistol

Mon, 12/12/2022 - 16:00

At the beginning of 2022 we had an opportunity to check out Tisas USA’s 3rd generation of the PX-9 pistol. The 2nd generation was a good gun, but our sample had some quirks that prevented it from really shining. The 3rd generation model included a lot of upgrades both functionally and aesthetically and stands out as probably the highest value offering of the year.

Over on the GBGuns YouTube channel we reviewed the more-compact “duty” model, but now that we have the 5.1-inch barrel “tactical” model with a threaded barrel, it’s time to show the TTAG crowd.

Armed American Chronicles: Concealed Carry Permit Holders Are Shooting Back in Chicagoland

Mon, 12/12/2022 - 14:00

Aspiring holdup artists in Chicago, by and large, have operated with impunity. Out of 65 hold-ups recorded in less than a week, cops have made no arrests save for an unlucky crew that ran into a concealed carry holder.

That CCW holder took out all four members of the vehicular-borne team. Other gun-toting good guys and gals haven’t always fared so well. With almost 700 homicides for the year, Mayor Lori Lightfoot’s Murder City, USA has easily secured its place, once again, as America’s homicide capital.

You Can’t Stop the Signal: Behold the ‘Smith & Methson’ .410 Shotshell Pistol

Mon, 12/12/2022 - 10:00

Where there’s a will there’s a way. That, and you can’t stop the signal. A rather industrious felon in Iowa with a penchant for methamphetamine crafted this steampunk-ish masterpiece. It fires two .410 shotshells, so perhaps it’s the world’s largest homemade derringer.

Maybe the craftsman who made this unique piece was inspired by Blade Runner. Either way, it didn’t turn out quite ready for mass production and mass market sales. Can you imagine Jeremy S.

The 5 Carry Conditions – How Do You Carry Your Handgun?

Sun, 12/11/2022 - 16:00

“Carry condition” isn’t a subject as hotly debated in the gun community as, say, stopping power or GLOCK vs. 1911, but it’s up there. What is a carry condition? It’s the state of readiness you use for a handgun (usually one you’re carrying). It’s a sort of code for the number of steps needed to make the gun ready to fire.

Since you’re likely to hear these terms used the more you’re around firearms and the people who use and carry them, it’s a good thing to know what they mean (especially at a range or other location where specific carry conditions may be mandated in certain situations).

A courageous 15-year-old shot and killed his mother’s violent ex-boyfriend last week in Eastpointe, Michigan. Cops found the man, Roderick Neely, face-down and very dead in the grass outside the home. It capped off the sixth and what should be the final call to the residence with Mr. Neely as the suspect in each case.

As is frequently the case after a defensive gun use, police took both the woman and the 15-year-old into custody.

This is Why You Really Should Rotate Your Carry Gun Ammunition Regularly

Sun, 12/11/2022 - 10:00

Many folks — cops included — load up their self-defense sidearm, and then those tools silently serve and protect their owners from bad people with evil in their hearts. Unfortunately, most of us don’t think about regularly rotating the personal defense ammunition in our carry gun. or think we need to.

Don’t let that be you.

How long ago did you put the cartridges you’re carrying in your EDC pistol? Six months ago?

Handgun Hunting for Texas Hill Country Red Deer

Sat, 12/10/2022 - 13:00

A full moon lit up the Texas Hill County as I drove to a hunt just south of Kerrville.  I made a game out of adding up the value of the axis deer roaming wild on the roadside. $100,000 on the hoof? It was starting to add up to some real money. An Axis buck would make a gorgeous mount, but for this hunt, my intended trophy would be more precious: game to fill the freezer.
