The Truth About Guns

Oklahoma Home Invader’s Career Ends Abruptly After Forcing Entry to Gun Owner’s Residence
What happens when an intruder forces entry on an occupied residence? When that homeowner is a gun owner and has a firearm within easy reach, things almost always go very poorly for the would-be Big Bad Wolf.
Cops in Chickasha, Oklahoma didn’t have far to look to find the man who’s forced his way into a home in the middle of the day on Tuesday.
Neighbors said they heard a long string of gunshots and could smell the gunpowder in the air in the aftermath.
Finally! 4 Simple Gun Control Laws That ‘Could’ Reduce ‘Gun Violence’ by 28%!
It starts with a fairly simple premise: A majority of people, no matter which side of the political aisle they occupy, believe that someone with a history of violence should not be able to have a gun. This common ground between gun owners and non-gun owners is the basis for a policy platform proposed in a report out today from Tufts University School of Medicine experts, who led research into the topic, and 97percent, a bipartisan organization of gun owners and non-gun owners committed to reducing gun deaths, which funded the research.

Obscure Object of Desire: Colt Fourth Model Rimfire Derringer
I think a lot of us appreciate rimfire variants of our favorite guns. The HK MP5, the Walther PPQ, the SIG P322, and the GLOCK 44, among others, give us a cheaper way to fire a gun and train with something that’s similar to guns that are a bit bigger and more expensive.
This is hardly new. Colt may have done it first back in 1959 with the Colt Fourth Model Derringer. Colt’s first cartridge guns were the Thuer-designed second and third-model derringers chambered in .41 Rimfire, but production stopped in 1912 for these guns.
Chicago Alderman Who Fought For Fewer Cops Now Begging Bad Guys To Stop Shooting Up His Neighborhood
Chicago has a selection of radical crackpots on their city council. In the 25th Ward, Byron Sigcho Lopez claims to “fight for the working people.” He does this by lobbying for defunding the police and calling for fewer cops on the streets of his ward. While other council members want more beat cops, Sigcho Lopez, as recently as a month ago, repeated his disinvitation for fewer police in his ward.
Now, not even thirty days later, crime has spiraled.

DRGO Study Finds No Association Between Increased Legal Firearm Sales and Crime Rates
From the Second Amendment Foundation . . .
Doctors for Responsible Gun Ownership—a project of the Second Amendment Foundation—has released a new study showing there is “no association between increased lawful firearm sales and rates of crime or homicide.”
The study, by DRGO member Mark Hamill, MD, FACS, FCCM, is titled “Legal Firearm Sales at State Level and Rates of Violent Crime, Property Crime, and Homicides” and is published in the Journal of Surgical Research.
Lefties are Leaving Austin for Safer Locations Like Boston Where There Are Fewer AR-15s
On a late summer evening, friends of John Stettin gathered at a bar called Kitty Cohen’s in East Austin to say good-bye. A carrot cake with “Good Luck” written in orange icing softened in the heat, but as far as they were concerned, the occasion was his birthday. “You can’t say, ‘Happy going away!’” said Jeff, his best friend, greeting him with a hug. “We’re just not happy. We’re all very sad about it.” Good-bye parties are inherently not that fun.

NSSF Sues Delaware, New Jersey Over ‘Public Nuisance’ Laws Intended to Bankrupt Gun Makers
One of the great frustrations of the Gun Control Industry is its general inability to get around the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act. That’s the law that protects gun manufacturers and sellers from lawsuits when firearms they legally build and sell are used in the commission of a crime.
The PLCAA keeps gun makers and sellers in business. Without it, the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex, using its own attorneys and those in the tort business, would sue them into bankruptcy while people like the President and like-minded politicians cheer them on.
FPC, SAF Sue Delaware, Challenging the State’s ‘Assault Weapons’ Ban
From the Firearms Policy Coalition . . .
Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced today that it has filed a new Second Amendment lawsuit challenging Delaware’s ban on so-called “assault weapons.” The complaint in Gray v. Jennings, along with other case information, can be viewed at FPCLegal.org.
“In this case, the analysis is straightforward,” argues the complaint. “The Plaintiffs may not be prohibited from exercising their right to keep and bear arms.
Washington, D.C. Set to Lower Penalties for Carrying Without a Permit, Felon in Possession
This is apparently what happens when rabidly anti-gun blue city governments come full circle. Washington, D.C., if you’ll remember, used to ban handgun ownership, even within the owner’s home. Lawfully owned long guns were required to be stored unloaded and either disassembled or “bound by a trigger lock.”
That, after all, is how we got the Heller decision.
My, how things have changed. We now live in a time of “equity,” zero bail, non-prosecuted offenses, and decarceration.
Gun Meme of the Day: Grim Reaper Edition
Honestly I’m not entirely sure I understand why this became a meme. I mean, everyone knows Springfield doesn’t have any QC guys. (I kid! I kid. They’re fine firearms and they deserve a carve-out from my sarcasm.)

Beto Vetoed: Texans Say ‘No’ To Robert Francis O’Rourke and His Anti-Gun Agenda…Again
“It’s déjà vu all over again,” in the words of the great baseball philosopher Yogi Berra. Texas voters rejected Democrat Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke’s bid for higher office for the third time. This time Texans re-elected Republican Gov. Greg Abbott who handily brushed off a challenge from the perennial office seeker. Texans roundly rejected O’Rourke in an election that national gun control groups had their eyes set on, believing the third time would be the charm.
Road Rager Pro Tip: Don’t Pull a Gun On a Cop in an Unmarked Car
A road-raging Utah man was busted after he pointed a gun at a driver who turned out to be a police officer in an unmarked vehicle.
Taylor Ray Bradley, 29, was driving just outside of Salt Lake City around 11:45 a.m. on Monday when a truck in front of him signaled to turn. Infuriated, Bradley began tailgating the driver, according to an affidavit obtained by KSL.
Bradley then pulled alongside the truck and “began yelling profanities and proceeded to point what appears to be a small silver firearm” at the driver, according to the affidavit.

Guns Were on the Midterm Ballot: How the Results May Affect Gun Policy Going Forward
By Alex McCourt, Johns Hopkins University
The U.S. midterm elections took place on the backdrop of surging gun violence and in a year scarred by high-profile mass shootings.
And though exit polls indicated that abortion rights and inflation were the top motivating issues for voters, views toward guns also played a significant role. Indeed, a survey by Edison Research found that around 1 in 10 voters listed gun policy as their top concern.
SAF Threatens Redwood City With Legal Action Over Ordinance Banning Retail Gun Sales
The right to keep and bear arms includes the right to acquire them. You can’t keep or bear guns if you can’t buy them. That’s a legal principle that the Redwood City, California seems determined to test.
Last month the Bay Area town, located between San Francisco and San Jose, enacted an “urgency” ordinance banning the retail sales of firearms for a period of 45 days while the city determines its options long term.
Governors #Resisting Biden’s Push Against States’ Rights and Local Control – What About Gun Rights?
By Lee Williams
When Joe Biden’s hyper-partisan Justice Department announced they were sending federal poll watchers to Florida, Gov. Ron DeSantis pushed back hard.
DeSantis and state election officials pointed to a Florida statute that lists the people who are permitted inside a polling place on election day, and the feds didn’t make the list.
This was a great example of a ballsy governor using a well-crafted state law and his bully pulpit to stop the feds from interfering with our rights.
