The Truth About Guns
Canada Can’t Seem to Replace the Military Sidearms They’ve Been Using Since World War II
Here’s the thing: sometimes government procurement is hard. Governments sometimes need stuff that no one else needs, and there’s no real opportunity to develop expertise in procuring supplies that only need replacing once every generation or two. This isn’t to excuse ineptitude, but sometimes, when the government screws something like this up, you can sort of understand why. Some of this stuff just can’t be bought off the shelf.
But pistols can!

New Reality: Politicians, Gun Control Groups Learn to Deal With a Wave of Blue State Gun Sales

With the midterm elections less than 10 months away, elected officials supporting more gun control could be in for a rude awakening given the shifting Second Amendment support among their voting constituencies.
The HS Produkt VHS-2 is Now the New Springfield Armory Hellion Pullpup Rifle
From Springfield Armory . . .
Springfield Armory is proud to announce the release of the Hellion, answering the call for superior ballistic performance in a short, modular and fully ambidextrous 5.56mm bullpup platform.

Newsom Rejects Panel’s Recommendation to Release RFK Assassin Sirhan Sirhan
By Don Thompson, AP
Sirhan Sirhan, who assassinated presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy in 1968, was denied parole Thursday by California’s governor, who said the killer remains a threat to the public and hasn’t taken responsibility for a crime that altered American history.
Kennedy, a U.S. senator from New York, was shot moments after he claimed victory in California’s pivotal Democratic presidential primary. Five others were wounded during the shooting at the Ambassador Hotel in Los Angeles.
FN Issues Mandatory Safety Recall of All M249S Rifles
From FN . . .
FN America, LLC announces the mandatory recall of all FN M249S semi-automatic, belt-fed rifles sold before January 1, 2022. An identified issue from a component in the FN M249S fire control group may adversely affect the rifle’s standard operation, and under certain circumstances, a reset failure within the hammer group may cause an unsafe firing event. To correct this condition and restore consistent and safe operation of the firearm’s fire control group, it is necessary for FN to replace specific components in all FN M249S rifles.

Busse: Today’s Gun Culture is a Mechanism for Instilling Fear
Nobody wants to hear the Hitler analogies, but the Brown Shirt paramilitary operation was not entirely dissimilar to this growing band of GOP weirdos. Like other authoritarian revolutionary movements, the Nazi party recruited disaffected citizens, armed them, and then fed a constant diet of hateful conspiracy. Old grievances, arrest records, and other failures were erased by the legitimacy conferred by a gun and a flag. Street violence by the paramilitaries was encouraged. All in the name of instilling fear as part of the pursuit of power.

Dick’s Sporting Goods Admits Decision to Abandon Gun Sales Cost Shareholders $250M in Revenue

After being hailed as a progressive, forward-thinking responsible retailer, the company now admits that going woke and kicking guns to the curb cost it (and its shareholders) $250 million in revenue.
That’s probably an understatement.

First question: where are all the firearms that went missing from the Mexican military? That would be those firearms supplied by U.S. manufacturers pursuant to U.S.

The NFA and the ATF’s eForms System – What You Need to Know
From the NRA-ILA
On December 23, ATF launched a new system for applicants to complete various forms that ATF is responsible for administrating. For most gun owners, this change will primarily impact how applications for firearms regulated under the National Firearms Act (“NFA”) are processed.
Anyone who has submitted an NFA application in recent years is familiar with the long wait associated with acquiring any firearm regulated under the NFA. This wait is in large part due to the antiquated process used to process NFA applications combined with the recent growth in acquisition of NFA firearms.
You Don’t Say: ATF Lied About Number of Requests Received on Unfinished Frames and Receivers
By John Crump
According to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF), the new proposed rule on unfinished frames and receivers was developed due to “numerous requests from licensees seeking clarity on how [Privately Manufactured Firearms] may be accepted and recorded.” But a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request by Gun Owners of America (GOA) shows that reasoning to be false.
