Los Angeles Man Shoots and Kills One of Three Armed Robbers After Grabbing His Gun

Sun, 12/12/2021 - 15:00

Gun grabbers aren’t all bad. Not when the one doing the grabbing is the would-be victim of a robbery on the streets of Los Angles.

As the L.A. Times reports, early Saturday morning . . .

…three armed men, all in their 20s, got out of a vehicle in the 1300 block of West 35th Street, west of USC, and approached the other man and attempted to rob him, said Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson Norma Eisenman.

Gavin Newsom Says He’ll Use Texas Abortion Law as a Blueprint to Further Limit Gun Rights in California

Sun, 12/12/2021 - 08:15

So this happened last night. California Governor Gavin Newsom, having nothing else to do on a Saturday evening, issued the following proclamation . . .

If states can shield their laws from review by federal courts, then CA will use that authority to help protect lives.

We will work to create the ability for private citizens to sue anyone who manufactures, distributes, or sells an assault weapon or ghost gun kit or parts in CA.

Sammons: Catholics are Obliged to Defend the Right of Individuals to Own and Carry a Gun

Sun, 12/12/2021 - 08:00

Many Catholics are nevertheless uncomfortable with American gun culture. After all, it’s hard to imagine Jesus carrying an AR-15 slung over his shoulder, for good reason. Our Lord allowed himself to be unjustly arrested, condemned, and executed, all without any resistance—he even rebuked Peter for his use of a weapon in resistance (John 18:11).

Yet it’s a fallacy to believe that because Jesus wouldn’t have carried a weapon then we shouldn’t either.

Gun Control’s Death Throes: Burmese Rebels Use FGC-9 3D-Printed Guns to Resist Army Coup

Sat, 12/11/2021 - 13:00

2021 has been a particularly bad year in Burma (a.k.a. Myanmar, but that’s another story). After decades of military dictatorship, the country finally started to see some freedom and representative government during the last decade. That upswing came to an abrupt end when the military claimed election fraud and took control of the government, establishing yet another military junta.

Protests started almost immediately and are still ongoing, but protests are often met with military violence and murder.

Aleem: Massie’s and Boebert’s Christmas Cards ‘Normalize a Spectacle of Vigilantism’

Sat, 12/11/2021 - 08:01

[T]he power of these images lies not just in the guns but who can wield them with cultural impunity, and toward what end.

On the latter point, these photos speak to a troubling kind of cultural and political outlook.

I don’t own a gun, and I think America would be much safer if it disarmed like Australia or regulated guns like Japan. But let’s make some distinctions here about American gun ownership.

I still half hate these memes, because it was a legitimately horrible tragedy, but I found this one pretty Hilaria. From The Babylon Bee.

Also, here are some bonus, non-gun-related memes that were in my gallery right next to the Alec Baldwin one:

14-Year-Old Philadelphia Pizza Shop Employee Shoots Armed Robber in the Face [VIDEO]

Fri, 12/10/2021 - 14:00

Philadelphia really seems to want to give Chicago a run for its money among big city shooting galleries (521 dead with three weeks to go). Chicago’s still the reigning champ, of course, but you have to like the contender’s chances given who’s running things and their persistent state of denial they’re living in…at least publicly.

The City of Brotherly Love’s Soros-backed District Attorney just wants to waive off any talk of a crime problem.

Homeowner’s Gun Beats a Robber’s Knife in Compton, California Driveway Attack

Fri, 12/10/2021 - 12:00

By Brandon Curtis

A homeowner was getting into his car in his driveway around 6:15 a.m. Tuesday when police say he was approached by a man armed with a knife. The attempted armed robbery escalated quickly when the homeowner produced a firearm.

“Upon their arrival they located a male Hispanic adult, in his 30s, suffering from several gunshot wounds to the upper torso,” a sheriff’s statement said. “Investigators learned that the homeowner exited his residence and was getting into his vehicle in the driveway.

With LA’s Crime Now Inconveniencing Beverly Hills and Bel Air Residents, Stances on Gun Ownership Are Changing

Fri, 12/10/2021 - 10:00

“’It’s gotten to a point where residents feel insecure even going from their door to their car,’ said resident Shirley Reitman. ‘A lot of residents are applying for a concealed carry weapon permit, even though that’s a great challenge in LA County.’”

Does this woman live in a tough, violence-prone neighborhood in east L.A.? Is she a single mom stuck living in gang-infested Compton with stray bullets regularly flying?

Nope. Ms.

People Prosecuted Under Unconstitutional Gun Control Laws Should be Entitled to Restitution

Thu, 12/09/2021 - 16:00

By Rob Morse

The case currently before the Supreme Court — New York State Rifle & Pistol Assn. v. Bruen — hinges on the fact that government officials in New York state can choose whether or not to give ordinary citizens a license to carry a concealed firearm in public. About one out of twelve of us carry in public now. That isn’t true in New York state where ordinary people are denied the right to carry personal firearms in public.

An Inconvenient Truth: The Constitution Protects Home Made Guns

Thu, 12/09/2021 - 12:00

From the FPC . . .

The Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) announced today a timely new scholarly article on the Second Amendment right to self-manufacture arms, including firearms. “The American Tradition of Self-Made Arms” is based on original research by FPC’s director of constitutional studies, Joseph Greenlee, and traces the right from Colonial America through modern times.

Greenlee’s article is especially important as litigation on the subject increases due to recent, unconstitutional changes in the law in some anti-rights jurisdictions like Delaware, Nevada, and New Jersey.

‘Progressive’ Prosecutors Think Criminals are the Real Victims and Gun Control is for Civilians

Thu, 12/09/2021 - 08:00

Gun control is for civilians, not criminals. The criminal justice system should view criminals as victims. These are the guiding lights of Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon.

On the same day that an 81-year-old woman was shot to death in a home invasion robbery, Gascon sent out a fundraising email decrying the use of sentencing enhancements. Enhancements add prison time for violent crimes for a number of reasons, from gang affiliation to the use of guns .

Gun Meme of the Day: Camo Ace Wrap Edition

Look…I mean…it’s functional. Doing it as a one-off for a specific hunt? Ehhh, go for it. We don’t all have the crafting skills to zip tie local foliage to our kit.

On the other hand, maybe I’d rather have a deer see my black rifle than have a human see my ace-wrapped one.

As Gun Control Loses Popularity, Gun Controllers Turn the Volume Up to Eleven

Wed, 12/08/2021 - 16:00

By Lee Williams

These are the most perilous times many Second Amendment watchdogs have ever seen. Our right to keep and bear arms is under constant assault by a troika of would-be infringers: the Biden-Harris administration — the most anti-gun group of bullies to occupy the White House in modern times — the legacy media, which is aids and abets Biden’s every whim regardless of its constitutionality, and the anti-gun industry, which provides the playbook and orchestrates the campaign.

The Oakland City Council, a longtime leader in the Black Lives Matter movement to cut police funding, reversed course Tuesday and voted to hire more officers as it grapples with a surge in homicides and gun violence.
