Gun Meme of the Day: Second Amendment Sanctuary Edition
Not exactly a funny one, but it felt like a nice send-off into the weekend.

Firearms Industry Congressional Fly-In a Success After a 2-Year Break
Chief executives and other C-suite executives from the firearm and ammunition industry gathered in Washington, D.C., for the 2022 NSSF Congressional Fly-In and met with Members of Congress and Senators to raise awareness about several key issues impacting the industry. It was a jam-packed two days of meetings as dozens of firearm, ammunition and accessories industry leaders spoke face-to-face with elected officials from both sides of the aisle. This was the first in-person Fly-In in three years.

Gun Review: AREX Zero 2S 9mm Pistol
In Januray 2016 I had an opportunity to try out a pistol by a little-known Slovenian company called AREX. The AREX Zero 1 appeared to be an improvement of NB Inat’s improvement of Zastava’s improvement of the SIG 226.
Yes, there’s some strange lineage there, but the end result was an impressive all-metal, DA/SA, double-stack 9mm pistol with the decocker level smartly doubling as the slide lock/release.
A short while later the AREX Zero 1 would become popular as a survivor of the Military Arms Channel’s “Gauntlet” test.

Florida Man Arrested After Defending Himself and His Girlfriend With a Gun…But No Carry Permit
The Gainesville Police Department responded to a call of a physical altercation at about 2:00am on March 27. Adam Benjamin Cameron of Ocala and his girlfriend were walking with some friends when they were accosted and physically attacked by Antwan Jerome Downs who was with another group.
Downs allegedly struck his girlfriend in the face and pushed her to the ground, after which Cameron was also hit in the face with a closed fist.
Cerabino: Teaching Kids Marksmanship in Florida Schools is a Special Kind of Crazy
Marksmanship should be a required class in every Florida public high school
— Rep. Anthony Sabatini (@AnthonySabatini) March 31, 2022
It takes a lot to be Florida’s worst legislator. The competition is fierce.
But state Rep. Anthony Sabatini, R-Howey-in-the-Hills, certainly tries the hardest at being awful.
“Marksmanship should be a required class in every Florida public high school,” Sabatini tweeted last week.

Libertarians Lulz at David Hogg’s Expense [VIDEO]
Poor David Hogg. He was gifted a spot at Harvard even though he didn’t have the grades to get himself into the local community college. But we live in a time when victimhood, activism, and media celebrity count for more than academic achievement and test scores.
Worse still, David has an iPhone and a Twitter account…both of which he puts to regular use while exposing how poorly equipped and embarrassingly ill-formed he is.

Who is Steven Dettelbach, the Man Biden is Reportedly Considering to Head the ATF?
By Lee Williams
Joe Biden is considering nominating another staunch anti-gunner to head the ATF, according to POLITICO, even though millions of angry American gun owners helped scuttle Biden’s first choice, David Chipman, because of Chipman’s long history of anti-gun advocacy.
Several sources allegedly told the online news site that Biden will choose Steve Dettelbach, the former United States Attorney for the Northern District of Ohio.
Dettelbach, a Democrat, ran unsuccessfully for Ohio Attorney General in 2018, losing to Republican Dave Yost.
Shocker: Sacramento Shooting Was A Gunfight Involving At Least 5 Warring Gang Members
By Adam Beam and Brian Melley, AP
The mass killing that left six people dead and 12 wounded outside bars just blocks from California’s Capitol last weekend was a gunfight involving at least five shooters from rival gangs, Sacramento police said Wednesday.
Police said they identified at least five gunmen but there may have been more. Only two suspects — both brothers wounded by gunfire — have been arrested in connection with the shooting and, so far, only face firearms charges.
74-Year-Old ‘Lurch’ Says He Shot a Teenage Home Invader Multiple Times
The homeowner, who asked to be identified by his nickname of “Lurch,” told FOX 8 Cleveland the home invasion happened around 7:30 in the morning March 29. He said he opened fire when the teen came crashing through his front glass door.
The hurt teen rolled down the steps to the basement, where he allegedly grabbed a shovel.
“I shot him again,” Lurch said. He then kept an eye on the intruder until police arrived.

CCRKBA Biden Needs to Reload His Brain Before He Shoots Off His Mouth
From the CCRKBA . . .
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms today blasted President Joe Biden for shamelessly exploiting the tragic mass killing in Sacramento to further his gun prohibition agenda by calling for bans on so-called “ghost guns” and demanding background checks for all gun sales.
Six people died and a dozen more were wounded in the attack, which occurred just after 2 a.m.
Grand Jury: Kyle Carruth Won’t Be Charged in Shooting Death of Chad Read
The shooting death of Chad Read at the hands of his ex wife’s boyfriend, Kyle Carruth, last year was captured on video from a couple of angles and provoked much discussion. As we noted at the time, the details weren’t quite as clear-cut as some wanted to believe and it was difficult to predict whether a prosecutor would consider the shooting justified or not.
Here’s what we do know, and what the outcome is so far.
The Newest Anti-Gun Smear Isn’t Nearly As Clever As Georgia Democrats Think [VIDEO]
Georgia’s Democrats aren’t taking the passage of a constitutional carry bill well at all. They’ve released a new video featuring someone described as a former police officer. The video — produced by the Democrats and approved by Gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams — is intended to spread fear in the public mind over constitutional carry. And demonize Abrams’ opponent, Governor Brian Kemp.
No permit. No background check.
70% of Georgians oppose it and law enforcement has major concerns.
Time to Face Reality in California: It’s the Crime, Not the Guns
The senseless homicides of six in Sacramento are tragic. It is a shocking and sober reminder that criminals have no respect for the law or for human life.
That’s why it’s appalling that politicians immediately leaped to calls for more gun control without knowing even the basic facts of what transpired. President Joe Biden and Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom used these senseless murders to call for a bevy of gun control items even before the crime scene was processed.
Fabulism: ATF is Unable to Verify Its Own ‘Ghost Gun’ Claims That Got the Regulatory Ball Rolling
By Lee Williams
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives has a unique reputation among federal law enforcement agencies. Quite frankly, the ATF is well known for not always telling the truth. Whether its firearm statistics, after-action reports downplaying the body count of their latest sting to backfire or quotes from senior executives, any information coming from ATF is always suspect and must always be verified.
Verifying ATF information isn’t easy.
Gun Meme of the Day: Brandon’s Solutions Edition
But just think about how much safer Sacramento would have been if that prohibited person felon was even more not legally able to possess any firearm, let alone his apparent unregistered machine gun. The literal dozens of state and federal firearm laws that he broke didn’t stop him from commiting murder (which I have on good authority is also illegal, incidentally), but probably the next one will.

Oak Forest, IL Gun Store Refused to Sell Ammo to Woman Before She Opened Fire on Police
A woman walked into Eagle Sports Range in Oak Forest, Illinois Sunday morning in Chicago’s south suburbs. She wanted to buy a box of 9mm ammo, but the Eagle Sports clerk didn’t like the way she was acting.
She seemed upset and she was acting “suspiciously.” As CBS Chicago reports . . .
…she was on the phone, seemed very agitated and unholstered her gun on a few occasions, which also made them uncomfortable.
Politicians and the Gun Control Industry Are All Out of Answers After the Sacramento Shooting
Saturday night there was a fight outside a bar in Sacramento at about 2:00am. That’s a bad time to be out and mixing it up with anyone, anywhere and things went sideways. Badly.
