BREAKING: Kyle Rittenhouse Not Guilty on All Counts

Fri, 11/19/2021 - 12:15

A jury in Kenosha, Wisconsin has found Kyle Rittenhouse not guilty on all counts he was facing. The verdict reflects the flimsiness of the case against Rittenhouse, the ineptness of the prosecution during the trial, and the courage of the jurors in the face of enormous pressure and clear attempts to intimidate them.

Rittenhouse was standing guard outside a car dealership in Kenosha on August 25 last year during riots that followed the shooting of Jacob Blake.

Things That Don’t Suck: SOG Kiku XR Blackout Folder

Fri, 11/19/2021 - 12:00

This is a knife I shouldn’t like very much. I prefer to carry something smaller, lightweight, more pocketable. I tend to like a slim, no-frills drop point blade. My EDC needs don’t usually extend much beyond opening a cardboard box with a grin printed on it or maybe slicing through the packaging on a new piece of gear to review. And yet . . .

Despite myself, I really love this knife.

Tedious: Gun Banner ‘Beto’ O’Rourke Stumbles Into the Race for Texas Governor

Fri, 11/19/2021 - 10:00

By Larry Keane

Some people in politics just can’t take the message from voters. Failed U.S. Senate candidate and failed Democratic presidential candidate Robert Francis “Beto” O’Rourke is sitting at 0-2 down in the count and announced a 2022 gubernatorial campaign.

O’Rourke doubled down on his infamous “Hell Yeah!” call for gun confiscation of the most popular semiautomatic rifle in America. Reaction was swift and that’s not a recipe for success in Texas.

Gallup: More Americans Turning Away From Gun Control as Crime, Gun Ownership Rise

Fri, 11/19/2021 - 08:00

Americans’ support for stricter gun-control measures has fallen to its lowest level since 2014, according to a poll released Wednesday by Gallup.

The results of the October survey come as the number of violent crimes, including murder, has risen and after Americans purchased a record number of guns in 2020.

According to the poll, 52% of U.S. adults say they want stricter gun laws—down from 67% in 2018 after a mass shooting at a high school in Parkland, Fla., left 17 people dead.

Gun Grabbers May Use Florida Lawsuit as a Blueprint to Attack Preemption Laws in Other States

Thu, 11/18/2021 - 12:00

By Lee Williams

If the gun-banners get their way, they’ll be importing more from Florida than just citrus.

A lawsuit now before the Florida Supreme Court seeks to dismantle the state’s powerful preemption statute, which safeguards all pro-gun laws in the Gunshine State, including the Castle Doctrine, the “Stand Your Ground” statute and shall-issue concealed carry.

Florida’s preemption statute prohibits anyone other than the state legislature from regulating firearms and ammunition.

Sun Tzu And The Art of Staying Out Of Trouble During Unrest

Thu, 11/18/2021 - 10:00

As we await the verdict in Kyle Rittenhouse’s trial, now’s a great time to reflect on the absolute awful experience a murder trial is for anyone. The old gun board saying goes, “Better to be tried by twelve than carried by six,” but that doesn’t mean being tried by twelve is in any way a pleasant experience. Sometimes, it’s only marginally preferable to  being dead.

Following a defensive gun use, the decision a gun owner has to make in fractions of a second are slowly second-guessed by prosecutors, the judge, and then a jury, who can take days or weeks to think it over.

David French’s Irrational Fear of Guns is No Reason to Outlaw Open Carry

Thu, 11/18/2021 - 08:00

Open carry is materially different from concealed carry. It’s often designed to be menacing, to intimidate the public and public officials. And after the debates around Rittenhouse, it’s time to rethink open carry, as a matter of ethics and law. https://t.co/2daiagOyJI

— David French (@DavidAFrench) November 16, 2021

Instead of asking why a then-17 year-old was there helping to guard a business and putting out fires, the question should be why the governor didn’t call out the Guard in the same way he is before this verdict.

Collusion: Biden Wants to Ensure Positive Coverage by Paying Mainstream Media Journalists

Wed, 11/17/2021 - 14:00

By Lee Williams

Joe Biden has found a way to guarantee positive news stories from legacy media reporters. He wants to help pay their salaries, despite the ethical questions this would raise.

Gun owners and anyone else who don’t want to lose their civil rights and individual freedoms are especially at risk.

As part of his nearly $2 trillion budget reconciliation bill, Biden wants to give massive tax breaks to newspaper chains, which are struggling to compete and maintain their relevancy in a digital age.

FL Rep. Fentrice Driskell Wants to Keep Floridians On the Political Plantation

Wed, 11/17/2021 - 12:00

Rep. Fentrice Driskell (D-Tampa) is a hypocrite. As the Florida Democrat caucus leader, she has campaigned on a platform of equality. But in reality, she’s not a fan of protecting the rights of Floridians, and her actions in the legislature show it.

She states she’s for the passage of something she calls “comprehensive and sensible gun reform to protect Floridians.” But gun control in no way protects Floridians. In fact, it does the exact opposite.

Agenda-Driven ‘Science’: Gun Ownership Leads to Higher Blood Lead Levels in Children

Wed, 11/17/2021 - 10:00

By Salam Fatohi

Firearm ownership is a longstanding American tradition. New gun owners, an estimated 8.4 million in 2020 and an additional 3.2 million in the first half of 2021, represent a growing trend of Americans willing to exercise their Second Amendment rights and with it to take on the responsibility of gun ownership.

While firearm ownership can be a polarizing issue, the topic of safety, especially in regard to children, is a high priority for everyone.

Morning Consult/Politico Poll: More Americans Trust the GOP On Gun Policy

Wed, 11/17/2021 - 09:00

From the Second Amendment Foundation . . .

The Second Amendment Foundation today pointed to a new Morning Consult/Politico survey finding that the public trusts Republicans more than Democrats on gun policy as an acknowledgement that Americans are rejecting the Democrats’ radical gun control agenda.

The survey of almost 2,000 registered voters was conducted Nov. 5-7 and revealed that in the top five areas of concern—national security, the economy, gun policy, immigration and jobs—polling results show Democrats trailing.

Gun Review: CMMG FourSix AR Pistol

Tue, 11/16/2021 - 15:00

CMMG has never been afraid of doing unusual things with the AR platform. They created the Mutant, an AR that uses AK magazines. They designed the radial delayed blowback system that tames recoil in a simple way. Now, they have created the first civilian firearm to chamber the 4.6x30mm cartridge and the first AR that chambers the round. CMMG’s new FourSix joins CMMG’s Banshee lineup, but doesn’t use the radial delayed blowback system.

Instead, the FourSix is a direct impingement gun with CMMG’s own micro length gas system and their new micro gas block.

Fighting Fake News: Rumor Control in the Gun Business

Tue, 11/16/2021 - 11:00

By Jim Shepherd

George Soros did not buy Remington. Ever. I don’t care what “confidential source” provided you with this hot info, it’s not true.

For years I’ve routinely been forwarded messages warning me of a “Critical Development!” “Emergency Situation for Gun Owners!” or asking “ Is An Attack on the Second Amendment Coming?”

Usually they come from readers who are “pretty certain it’s not true” but “just wanted to get your take on this.”

This is my annual response for 2021: It is still not true.

CMMG FourSix – The First Ever AR to Hit the Civilian Market Chambered in 4.6x30mm

Tue, 11/16/2021 - 07:00

Introduced in 1999, the HK MP7 was considered to be one of the most popular PDW’s for military and law enforcement across the globe due to its small size, light recoil and effectiveness against armor. The 4.6x30mm cartridge was meant to be primarily used in the MP7 to minimize weight and recoil during close quarter combat. To this day, there has never been a civilian gun on the market that chambers the fast shooting 4.6x30mm round – until now.
