The Truth About Guns

New Mexico’s Two-Tier Criminal Justice System Overlooks Law-Breaking Gun Control Group…So Far
Last week, we shared the insane story of a gun control group in New Mexico that managed to run afoul of a lot of gun control laws. All of these were laws that the group supports, and even had a hand in helping some of them to pass. Now, we’re seeing that they’ve likely committed a number of felonies and have even admitted to violating some of the laws they helped pass.
But state and federal authorities have done nothing so far.
What Gun, What Ammo, and What to Do Now
[ED: We originally ran this post in March of 2020. You’ll probably remember what things were like then. COVID is no longer the issue it was and ammo is far more plentiful, but we have other problems and lots of people seem to be anticipating interesting times in the next 12 months. My next door neighbor just asked me for help in getting a good carry gun as she no longer feels safe venturing out in many areas where that was never a consideration before.

Seattle Homeowner Uses Rifle to Fend Off 4 Attackers in Early Morning Home Invasion Attempt
Remember, no one needs more than ten rounds of ammunition to protect themselves. If you think you do, you’re doing it wrong. We’ve been reliably informed of that fact by the Civilian Disarmament Industrial Complex and all of the smartest people for years now on a regular basis. Magazine capacity limits are dubious in their effectiveness at best and are in the process of being swept into the ash heap of gun control history.
Still, though, they remain one of the primary footings on which the argument for civilian disarmament is based.
America’s Armed Populace: Why Owning an AR-15 Rifle is a Moral Imperative
By Mike Nowland
The howler monkeys of the anti-self defense rights crowd constantly blast us with weepy, blood-spattered reminders of the costs of an armed society. Those same people, however, are remarkably well disciplined about never, ever mentioning the historical costs of disarmament.
Every major policy choice has both positive and negative effects, some planned or anticipated and some unintentional. The Founders’ decision to maintain an armed population is an example.
What Gun Gear Did Santa Leave For You Last Night?
The jolly old elf snuck into our house last night, somehow without alerting our always vigilant Labrador and waking the whole house. We probably need to work on that. Anyway, he left me a gun rest bag and a NeoMag, the better to pack an extra magazine on a an EDC basis.
If you managed to make it onto his ‘Good’ list too, he probably left something gun-related at your house. Tell us all about it in the comments below.

Things That Don’t Suck: TOPS Modern Gladius
Folding knives are convenient, and what most of us carry as EDC blades, but sometimes it’s nice to have a good fixed blade around for more serious purposes. A good friend and mentor always described a folding knife as being pre-broken, in that it’s already in multiple pieces and we’re relying on the lock to hold it together during use.
A fixed blade knife with a full tang is all one piece, and inherently stronger.

Harassing Your Friends and Relatives About Safe Gun Storage Won’t Keep Your Kids Safe
The big gun control grifting operations are out in force in the run-up to the holidays on social media. The big thing they want to frighten people with this time? Visiting family and friends for the holidays. Even on some of the best days of the year, these people think we should be extra afraid (and, more importantly, we should be donating money), but they’re working hard to instill some extra paranoia for the most wonderful time of the year.

Your Annual Warning From Police That Airsoft Guns As Christmas Gifts Are Dangerous
Police are issuing a warning to parents who are buying their kids toy or airsoft guns this Christmas.
Police are warning that because these toy guns look so real, they could be putting kids at risk if they are used improperly. Police this year are urging parents to use caution and educate their children about the dangers some of these hyper-realistic guns pose.
“The biggest thing is safety.
Taurus’s New TH10 Hammer-Fired 15+1 10mm Pistol
The 10mm never really took off after its development in the early 1980’s. It was kept alive thanks in large part to a small diehard following, but it wasn’t until the last 10 years or so that manufacturers really started giving it its due.
What was once a round barely surviving with a cult following is now a thriving defense and hunting option with new models coming out on fairly a steady basis.

Police Knew Robert Card’s Mental Health Was Deteriorating, But Didn’t Feel Safe Confronting Him
Police who declined to confront an Army reservist in the weeks before he killed 18 people in Maine’s deadliest mass shooting feared that doing so would “throw a stick of dynamite on a pool of gas,” according to video released Friday by law enforcement.
The video, which was released to the Portland Press Herald and then sent to The Associated Press, documents a Sept. 16 call between Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Sgt.
4 Factors You Need to Consider When Buying a Concealed Carry Handgun
By Tim Carroll
What gun should I carry for self-defense? That’s a question that’s been asked more times than I can count during my professional training career and more often in recent years. The answer is, well…complicated.
1. Stopping Power
First we need to look at one of the most important aspects of carrying a handgun for self-defense, the ability to stop a threat. Statistics will show that a handgun round is a relatively poor choice for stopping an attacker.
Gear Review: Beretta’s Women’s Clothing Line
What you wear makes a difference. More and more outdoor companies are recognizing the need for “women’s wear.” Not pink camo, but quality clothing that stands up to rigorous conditions while accenting the female shape. Beretta is clear that’s exactly what they wanted from their Ladies Training Collection and they made it happen.
“The Beretta Ladies Training Collection is focused on delivering improved garment fit with modern performance fabrics aiding in durability for dynamic shooting competition and outdoor rigorous physical training.

CCI Announces new Uppercut .22LR Jacketed Hollowpoint Personal Defense Rounds
We all know you shouldn’t rely on a .22LR for self defense when there are more effective options out there. But I bet we all know people who still do. Whether it’s because that’s the only gun they own, or because it’s what they’re comfortable shooting, or maybe it’s a backup gun like a North American Arms Mini Revolver. Whatever the reason, and despite recommendations to the contrary, folks use .22’s for defense, have done so since Smith & Wesson developed the original .22 Short back in 1857, and will continue to do so in the future.
The Numbers That Support Arguments for More Gun Control Just Don’t Add Up
By Rob Morse
Gun Prohibitionists call for more gun control every time a criminal uses a firearm. Like a bunch of short attention span headline surfers, we pass more gun control laws every year without bothering to ask if they actually work. When you stand back and look, however, you can’t help but notice that the places with the strictest gun control laws include some of our most violent cities.
Are gun control laws making us safer, or are they putting us in greater danger?
Biden-Harris Administration Ramps Up Its Campaign to Spread Their War on Guns to the States
From NRA-ILA . . .
Recently, we reported on the establishment of the White House Office of Gun Violence Prevention, an effort by the Biden Administration to funnel taxpayer dollars to the partisan project of gun control. Whatever else can be said of the office, it is at least trying to justify its existence by staying busy, to the detriment of law-abiding gun owners.
Last week the office convened a meeting with democrat state legislators in an effort to dragoon them into enacting anti-gun policies that have failed to gain traction at the federal level.
Federal Judge Declares California’s Bruen Response ‘Sensitive Places’ Carry Ban Law Unconstitutional
Yesterday a US District Judge in California left no ambiguity our doubt about his thoughts on California’s efforts to limit the right to keep and bear arms by enacting SB2 following the Supreme Court’s Bruen decision. U.S. District Judge Cormac J. Carney blocked most of the law in an injunction issued last night the May v. Bonta.
…California will not allow concealed carry permitholders to effectively practice what the Second Amendment promises.
