Illinois Store Employee Shoots Woman Three Times After She Pistol-Whipped a Co-Worker

Thu, 06/08/2023 - 12:00

An armed society is a polite society. And an order of protection is paper-thin. And the only thing that stops a bad girl with evil in her heart is a good guy with a gun. All of those truisms converged in Alton, Illinois this week as a woman entered a store Tuesday morning, attacked and seriously injured an employee by pistol-whipping them and then was shot by another employee who was legally packing heat.

It happened at a Rent-A-Center in Alton.

Spitzer: For Most of Our Past, Gun Rights and Regulation Were Compatible…Why Not Now?

Thu, 06/08/2023 - 08:00

As I have learned from my research on early gun laws, weapons regulation in early America went even further, extending to three broad types of laws, spanning nearly 300 years of American history. First, laws restricting weapons carrying were enacted extending to guns, fighting knives, and clubs throughout the 1800s. These laws criminalized concealed weapons carrying in 50 states (including territories that later became states), open weapons carrying in at least 29 states, and even long gun carrying in at least 22 states.

Second Amendment Law Center Needs Help Funding Amicus Briefs in Barnett v. Raoul (Illinois Gun Ban Challenge)

Wed, 06/07/2023 - 16:00

The US District Court for the Southern District of Illinois granted a preliminary injunction in the 2ALC-supported case of Barnett v. Raoul and three other related lawsuits in Illinois that challenge the constitutionality of the state’s unconstitutional new Protect Illinois Communities Act gun ban.

Among other things, Governor Pritzker’s PICA law bans the sale or transfer of any semi-automatic firearm designated by the state as an “assault weapon” and bans certain magazines based on their capacity.

Respondents’ Illinois Gun Ban Defense Briefs Full of Wishful Thinking and Make Believe

Wed, 06/07/2023 - 14:00

Monday was the deadline for the defendants of the consolidated cases challenging Illinois’ new firearm and magazine bans to file their briefs with the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals. Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker signed the new law into effect on January 10th of this year. How did that go?

Well the state’s attorneys submitted outright lies and falsehoods to the court. How can they do that without sanction? Folks, there isn’t enough bourbon in the world to read through their briefs without getting a serious headache.

Why Is ATF So Uninterested in Gun Owner and Marijuana User Nikki Fried?

Wed, 06/07/2023 - 10:00

By Lee Williams

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives issued a stern warning last week after Minnesota became the 23rd state to legalize recreational marijuana.

After Minnesota legalized cannabis yesterday, the ATF reminded users they should not own guns.

“It remains federally illegal to mix marijuana with firearms and ammunition,” the top ATF agent in St. Paul said.https://t.co/kWMA6iPmB9

Professional Apostate Ryan Busse Has Deep Thoughts About Guns and Society

Tue, 06/06/2023 - 14:00

Ryan Busse is at it again. His tedious gun control “holier-than-thou” schtick is wearing thin, which might be why he’s now adding pseudo sociologist, criminologist, psychologist and psychiatrist to his self-proclaimed list of expertise as “firearm industry expert.”

He’s none of those. Busse is a charlatan. He’s a paid shill for gun control who has yet to find a media outlet that won’t fawn over his “Saul-to-Paul” conversion from defender of firearms to shotgun-toting, plaid-wearing doomsday prophet shouting repentance admonitions at anyone who dares to disagree with his gun control crusade.

RFK Jr: Prozac May Link to a Rise in School Shootings

Tue, 06/06/2023 - 08:00

My position on gun control is that I’m not going to take away anybody’s guns. I’m a constitutional maximalist and the issue has been settled by the Supreme Court…I understand personally the heartbreak of gun violence…we have to stop school shootings…if it comes down to protecting schools like we protect airlines, we’ll do that. We also have to look at the role of psychiatric drugs…prior to the introduction of Prozac we had almost no events like this.

Injunctions Blocking Enforcement of ATF Pistol Brace Rule Padding Gun Rights Groups’ Membership Rolls

Mon, 06/05/2023 - 16:00

As we noted last week, three court injunctions are currently in place blocking the ATF’s enforcement of its arbitrary about face rule that now regulates previously legal brace-equipped pistols as short barreled rifles under the NFA. The three cases in question were brought by, among others, three gun rights organizations; the Firearms Policy Coalition, Gun Owners of America and the Second Amendment Foundation. The judges who issued those injunctions ruled that they apply to all members of the three gun rights groups.

Tennessee Governor Continues Push for Due Process-Free Red Flag Laws After School Shooting

Mon, 06/05/2023 - 14:00

Tennessee’s GOP Governor Bill Lee has tilted at windmills since the Covenant School shooting. He’s used the opportunity to call for a red flag confiscation law in the Volunteer State. Lee wants the law badly enough that he’s called for a special session in August to take up the bill.

Why August and not now? Gov. Lee wanted the law during the spring session but not a single member of the legislature filed such a bill.

Mon, 06/05/2023 - 10:00

This past week, the City of Dixon, Illinois renamed the street in front of Dixon High School the “Mark Dallas Way.” The name change is to honor a heroic school resource officer who stopped a would-be mass murderer from shooting up a high school graduation practice five years ago.

Mark Dallas was on duty that fateful day and he credits not only his training but the forethought of the local school district in working proactively to counter potential threats.

Video Shows Fully Automatic Gang-Related Gunfire on the Streets of Chicago

Mon, 06/05/2023 - 10:00

In Chicago, local political leaders have tried to rebrand gang violence as gun violence. In reality, guns don’t shoot up Windy City neighborhoods, but gang bangers certainly do. And here we are, almost five months after Governor Pritzker signed a gun and magazine ban, and gang members fearlessly unload on their rivals, killing one and wounding at least three others.

To add insult in injury, one of the 16-year-olds who were targeted by this attack raised a pistol and fired shots at police officers who were responding to the full-auto volley of gunfire.

Busse: Gun Violence Has Spiked Because Firearm Makers Have Violated an Unspoken, Fragile Social Contract

Mon, 06/05/2023 - 08:00

Where are we, as a nation, on guns? And where do you think we need to go?

I think we might be on the precipice of things getting much worse. I think this Bruen decision, the Supreme Court ruling, quite possibly will unleash so many lawsuits against so many counted-upon regulations that citizens may wake up to the equivalent of, like, no stop signs in their town anymore, except for it’ll be on gun regulation.

Of School Bus Drivers and a Confrontation Outside of My Kids’ School

Sun, 06/04/2023 - 13:00

A school bus driver is solely responsible for the safety and well-being of the kiddos on his or her bus. On 99.998% of school days, it’s just another day. Other times it requires thinking outside the box and sometimes even heroic actions.

Such is the case of a Milwaukee school bus driver named Imunek Williams. While 6-months pregnant, she pulled over upon smelling smoke. By the time she got the three-dozen plus kids off and ensured the bus was empty, the vehicle was engulfed by flames and smoke.

Situational Awareness: Life in Condition White

Sun, 06/04/2023 - 10:00

The condition color codes — levels of situational awareness — were conceived by Jeff Cooper decades ago. He opined that much of society perpetually spends their time in Condition White – essentially oblivious to the potential for threat. Some folks (particularly those who have martial arts, firearms, and/or other weapons background) are more likely to operate in Condition Yellow – essentially relaxed, but always mindful of the possibility of a threat materializing.
