Bushnell Releases CQTS Red Dot Optic
Bushnell has a new red dot sight in the elite tactical line. The Close Quarters Tactical Sight (CQTS) will feature a 3MOA dot, left side brightness knob and 30mm tube. Looking at the picture of this sight, I am immediately reminded of the Aimpoint PRO. While there are differences, the new CQTS looks to be direct competition for the Aimpoint PRO, even sporting a smaller price tag. With an MSRP of just $349, it could give Aimpoint a run for it’s money.
Overland Park, Kan. – Bushnell, an industry leader in high performance sports optics for 65 years, has introduced the first red dot sight in its Elite Tactical line. The new Elite Tactical CQTS (Close Quarters Tactical Sight) is a fixed power illuminated red dot system designed for quick target acquisition and rapid deployment on any firearm eq
Accuracy International Factory Tour
The Telegraph newspaper has published a factory tour video of the Accuracy International factory in Portsmouth, England. Click though to watch the video.
At a discreet location on the outskirts of Portsmouth, Accuracy International makes precision sniper rifles of world-leading quality.
In November 2009, one of the company’s products was used by British Army Corporal of Horse Craig Harrison, when he fired the longest ever confirmed sniper kill in history against Taliban insurgents in Afghanistan. The distance between CoH Harrison and his target was an incredible 2,710 yard, more than a mile and a half.
Tom Irwin, one of Accuracy International’s directors says the company’s founders – one of whom, Dave Walls, is still at the helm of the company – combined their knowledge of competitive target shooting with the experiences of serving military units before creating their first rifle, the new L96A1 – nic
Gear Review: Bowers Group Griptastic Suppressor Covers
I have a love-hate relationship with suppressors. The bureaucratic nonsense required to buy one in the USA is a hurdle in it of itself, and in my experience they are seldom worth what they cost here. With a caliber like .223 Remington, the report of a suppressed rifle is still not hearing safe, they make your guns run dirtier and sometimes malfunction due to over gassing the system, they add weight, and they get incredibly hot very fast. I have had my G5 for over a year, and it has melted the following: my skin, the synthetic wood of a shooting table, carpet they use at ranges in booths, “fire resistant” suppressor sheaths, and even the frame of a friend’s Glock pistol when it rolled over toward it. Bowers Group has set out to eliminate the problem of suppressors melting and or burning shooters and equipment with their new Griptastic suppressor covers.
The Griptastic covers are made out of hi-temp silicone and are available in all sizes. Even if you have a unique diameter or length can, I bet that Bowers group would make you a Griptastic cover if you emailed them the specs. For this t

Don’t Buy Guns For Friends…
Fox News reports that an Air Marshal supervisor is being investigated for buying guns using his SIG Sauer law enforcement discount, and the agency’s FFL license for transfers, on behalf of friends and Air Marshal civilian employees. Fox News reports …
The document detailing the allegations — written by a whistleblower and circulated among some employees — claimed that Poulos, at the Washington Field Office, is “under an active investigation by the DHS IG” for using his FAMS license to buy guns “from Sig Sauer for the FAMS Director, senior TSA/FAMS staff and a few Federal Air Marshals at a discounted ‘FAMS Agency’ rate.”
A good rule to live by is “Don’t buy guns for friends”. Instead, give them a gift voucher or money for the gun and drive them to your local gun store gun sto
SIG Elite Performance Ammo: More Information
SIG SAUER released additional information on the company’s new Elite Performance ammunition.
A Few Points
- SIG states the ammunition is designed for “personal defense.” Law enforcement agencies typically look to the standard FBI tests and a 12″ minimum gel penetration. Some makers of personal defense ammo do not try to achieve the 12″ minimum. While SIG did not address this specifically, not trying to meet the FBI standards would explain the sub-12″ penetration results obtained by LuckyGunner when testing .380 ACP and 9mm rounds.
- SIG makes reference to “controlled expansion” and states the company used a “unique toothed cannelure located halfway up the shank of the bullet to more effectively lock the jacket and core.” A si
Weekend Funny: Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries.
This weekend funny comes courtesy of a comment from last weeks. Looking at the darker (and even funnier side) of the “Rules of Combat”, comic Howard Taylor has been slowly revealing the “Seventy Maxims.” in his epic space operate Schlock Mercenary.
Thanks JimMarch!
Quoted Verbatim from the Schlock Mercenary Wiki:
The Seventy Maxims of Maximally Effective Mercenaries is a popular handbook in the Schlock Mercenary universe. The book’s maxims are often quoted by Tagon, as well as other characters. The following is a list of the maxims found in Schlock Mercenary, ordered by maxim number.

Remington is recalling Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with X-Mark Pro (“XMP”) triggers manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014. Visit http://xmprecall.remington.com/ to see if you rifle needs to be sent back to Remington.
Remington says that while the trigger design is safe there was a potential excess bonding agent applied during production which could result in an unintentional discharge. This Remington 700 is a very popular line of rifles and the company will have produced a significant number in the eight year period of the recall.

My Framed X-Ray Gun Prints
Last year I blogged about the beautiful CAT scanned prints sold by Mr. Houston H on Etsy. After I wrote that blog post I decided to get prints of the AK and the AR-15. They have just gotten back from the framers and they look amazing (see above), the photo does not do them justice. I had them framed with a 2.5″ border of white matte board and thin black mounding. Two is just not enough. I am thinking of getting a print of the Walther PPK in the near future and after that maybe the Uzi or MP5K.
For the next five days if you purchase prints of the 1911, AK and AR-15 through Gear Naut (a new tactical gear Deal of the Day site) you will get an approximately 30% discount. The
Sig MDX Muzzle Brake ATF bout
Sig Sauer submitted its new Muzzle Brake to ATF for approval last year. Hoping they would receive a ruling similar to the recent news on their Sig Arm Brace. Unfortunately ATF has deemed it a suppressor and requires a Form 1 or 4. Sig intends on fighting this. I wish them all the luck.
Mac over at The Bangswitch has more information regarding this.
Dual Wielding Barrett .50 Cal
Hope this brings a smile to your day. A guy unloading and dual wielding Barrett .50 Cal rifles. He should be wearing eye protection though. Still fun to watch and I am sure even more fun to shoot.
CAA Secubit Gun Shot Counter
Earlier this year CAA introduced their new Secubit Gun Shot Counter system that records every shot of your gun. For those who like to keep meticulous records of their shot count the Secubit GS-Counter records how many rounds you’ve fired, your pace of fire and the exact dates and times you’ve made each shot. All the info can then be viewed and analyzed on a computer or tablet via USB or on Android phones via their app (an iPhone version is in the works). Currently Secubit offers a model for Glocks as well as a universal Picatinny model for the AR-15, AK-47 and other rifles with versions for more models on the way soon.
The GS-Counter™ is a new revolutionary system that enables the real-time recording and storing of gunfire data. The GS-Counter™ is based on measuring energy along time, fitted with advanced software that automatically collects and stores gunfire data, making it available for off-line analysis of the user and the weapon performances. The GS-Counter™ distinguishes between shots, cocking of the gun and other events that should be recorded. The data ca
SOG KNIVES “KIKU” SERIES
SOG knives collaborates with legendary knife maker Matsuda Kikuo to create the “Kiku” series of knives offered in a variety of sizes and finishes while still maintaining a solid salute to Matsuda’s grinding style.
Most knife collectors are big fans of factory/custom maker collaborations. If done right, it is one of those “win win” situations. Fans of a certain maker will have the chance to own something from their favorite artists at greater availability and less cost. If a buyer were on the fence about a maker(and costly purchase), collaborations like this can influence them in the right direction(which is almost always to purchase the knife).
Makers can gain from the project in the way of more notoriety and exposure. The key here is, to make sure the exposure is representative of what the o

CMMG has now released the line of pistols, which are available now on their website. Made from their popular line of rifles, the pistols will have the same high quality that CMMG is known for. Press release after the break.
Fayette, MO — In response to customer feedback, CMMG has developed a line of new AR pistols that utilize properties from its sought after line of short-barreled rifles, including the popular RKM7 free float KeyMod hand guards. The resulting product launch includes two models

Nerf Sentry Gun
As a fan of pretty much anything that shoots a projectile, I found this interesting. A Nerf Sentry gun is nothing new. Ever since Hasbro came out with the N-Strike Vulcan EBF-25 Nerf fans and college students have been mounting them onto computer controlled gimbles.
The truly outstanding aspect of this build, is the targeting and IFF recognition. You can program the computer to recognize a design and not shoot at it. So you can dress up as Colonial Marines and pretend all your enemies are acid blooded aliens. Very clever indeed. Now mount a M60 or a Shrike to it haha.
1911 80% lower frame
With all the talk about 80% AR lowers, did you know that there are 80% 1911 lowers?Ares Armor sells them, but they are not the only game in town.
Tactical Machining makes a railed 1911 frame. Only a $10 difference between 80% and 100%. The difference is the slide rails, hammer and sear pin holes, as well as the barrel seat still need to be machined to complete the frame.
Here is the 80% 1911 frame
And here is the 100% frame
New Firefield1-6X24 1ST Focal Plane Illuminated Riflescope
Firefield recently released a new scope in 1-6X24.I’ve always liked the 1-4 power scopes and use them on my rifles. I felt they come up a little shy on the range at longer distances. This new 1-6×24 will allow shooters to use it in competition, hunting as well as just shooting at distances that really stretched the 1-4 scopes ability. In other words it gives the shooter a wider variety of uses for the same size as the 1-4 variety.
This new Firefield is a first focal plane scope at a very reasonable price of $215.99. To quote the company “The Firefield® 1-6×24 First-Focal Plane Riflescope is equipped with a green or red illuminated, first-focal plane reticle for range estimation at any magnification to help find the distance between the shooter
