How to get a silencer?

Thu, 03/20/2014 - 21:03

If you’re concerned about hearing loss, or are looking for a quiet weapon for hunting deer, a silencer may be a good idea.

How to get a silencer?

You will have to undergo “a relatively simple process to submit Form 4 applications to own a silencer. Typically, it is no more involved than obtaining a concealed firearm permit in most U.S. states. The typical process includes submitting two simple forms, two sets of fingerprint cards, two passport photos, a citizenship declaration form, and a signature from a chief law enforcement officer in your home jurisdiction. Check with your local Silencerco dealer for more information or regional information.

What if the chief doesn’t sign Form 4?

“You can process a Form 4 without a chief law enforcement officer’s signature by means of a Firearms Trust. There are many attorneys who have vast experience with this type of trust, and it is also a relative

Pro-Hunter Bill Goes To Governor

Thu, 03/20/2014 - 16:02

If you hate PETA and their drones, you’ll love this:

Last week, Senate Bill 1777 was substituted for its companion bill, House Bill 1952, on the House floor and proceeded to be unanimously approved by the Tennessee House of Representatives.  Having been unanimously passed in the state Senate on February 27, SB 1777 will now be sent to Governor Bill Haslam (R) for his expected signature into law.

Supported by the NRA, SB 1777 would amend Tennessee’s current hunter harassment laws by prohibiting anti-hunting radicals from using drones to interfere with those lawfully hunting or fishing.  Sponsored by state Senator Mike Bell (R-9) and state Representative Judd Matheny (R-47), SB 1777 would protect the rights and safety of hunters while afield.  The use of drones by anti-hunting extremists, with the expressed intention of spooking wildlife or catching a hunter off-guard, is extremely dangerous and could potentially result in injury.

Using his contact information provided below, please contact Governor Haslam today and respectfully u

Reason Argues for Guns in Venezuela and Ukraine

Thu, 03/20/2014 - 15:42

Brilliant commentary, check it out:

Ukrainians and Venezuelans Need Guns To Be Free The U.S. isn’t coming to the rescue, so they had better be able to defend themselves.

Zenon Evans | March 20, 2014

It’s hard to stand by and watch the plight of Ukraine and Venezuela, but the U.S. can do little to positively impact either situation. The thing is, they don’t need us. What they do need is a way to exercise their basic property rights and protect themselves. That is, they need guns, and could have used them to prevent their current crises.

The Cato Institute’s Andrey Illarionov suggested in interview this week that Ukraine is trying to be “free and independent.” In order to achieve this in the face of a Russian invasion, it must have a “complete arming of the people.” He argues that “mankind has never come up with something better” than “unobstructed gun ownership” to ensure “that a free man shall not become a slave.”

The argument that an armed society is a polite society isn’t just folk wisdom. A 2013 analysis of the U.S. and Europe published in the Harvard Journal of Law & Public Policy recognized that “nations with stringent gun controls tend to have much higher murder rates than nations that allo

Stupid Teen Shoots Himself at Pawn Shop

Thu, 03/20/2014 - 03:17

This story pisses me off…

LAKE CITY, Fla. — A teen walked into American Pawn on Southwest Main Blvd., asked to see a gun, then shot himself in the head, according to the Lake City Police Department.

Police confirmed that the incident happened just after 10:00 a.m. Wednesday morning when 19-year-old Brandon Lee Klatt of Deerfield Michigan requested to see a shotgun from the display.

Once Klatt had the unloaded gun in his hand, he began to back away from the counter, then took a shotgun shell out of his pocket, loaded the gun and then shot himself.

Klatt was taken to Shands Lake Shore Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 10:58 a.m.

Aquino is a gun enthusiast?

Thu, 03/20/2014 - 03:01

The Philippines has a lot of stupid gun control laws, so it’s surprising President Aquino is described as a gun enthusiast:

“Merely good enough is not enough,” the President said Thursday after sharing his experiences as gun enthusiast and car lover during the Philippine Quality Awards (PQA) held at Malacañang.

Aquino recalled the times when he would accompany his mechanic to buy spare parts in Banawe Street, Quezon City.

“I was thankful for having a mechanic who was very adamant about fake parts, because the price should have been already a warning that it might be too good to be true—that the product would probably fail when you need it the most, and compromise your safety,” Aquino said in a transcript provided to media.

He also mentioned one instance when he had his shotgun “fine-tuned” only to be shocked when the expert he was referred to pounded the shotgun’s magazine tube with a hammer. While it achieved the purpose, the President said he felt it had depreciated the gun’s value.

Such experiences have led the President to appreciate the importance of quality and excellence, especially when it comes to organizations.

Here’s some interesting ads I saw today, from the NRA’s America’s First Freedom magazine:

Armed Equals Censored? Not quite

Wed, 03/19/2014 - 07:47

Dumb letter of the day:

Letter: Armed Campus a Censored Campus

I am very distressed by the passage of Idaho’s “guns on campus” law. This legislation was heavily promoted by the NRA, I believe, to promote more gun sales although, of course, they don’t say that.

I am well into my senior years, and one of my many jobs was as a college teacher. I can recall one session that became quite heated and emotional. I can only imagine that if I had thought that those students were armed, I would have avoided that issue and anything else controversial.

All Idaho college administrators and all the college teachers I’ve spoken with (I’m a senior student) are and have been opposed to this law. There’s been much protest for many weeks. One person feared that out-of-state students, and their welcome fees, would avoid our “gun-campuses” in future. But the law has been shoved down the throat of our higher education. Is this the Idaho way? I guess it is.

Two Gun Instructors Lose their Licenses in Illinois

Wed, 03/19/2014 - 04:51

Some Metro East firearms instructors could face charges if they ever try to teach again.

Illinois State Police yanked the teaching licenses of two St. Clair County men for skirting the new conceal-carry gun law. It requires students to train for at least 16 hours before they can get their permit to carry, but St. Clair County State’s Attorney Brendan Kelly says students came forward claiming the instructors fell short.

“The information that we received about this particular class is that they weren’t even close to getting the hours that they were supposed to have and that they weren’t even complying with the spirit of this new law, so therefore we had to take some action even if that action was short of criminal prosecution,” said Kelly.

Kelly says the men will be prosecuted if they attempt to instruct again. They have to refund the cost of the class to nearly 100 students, whose conceal-carry licenses are now invalid.

Authorities did not release the names of the men because they have not been charged.

London Teen Smuggles Uzi

Wed, 03/19/2014 - 04:40

Looks like “gun-free” England isn’t so gun-free after all. Criminals still manage to do this:

A teenager, who bought a lethal machine gun and 187 rounds of ammunition and had them imported from the US disguised as ornamental owls, has been locked up.

Reza Khalilzada, a Dutch national, ordered the UZI machine gun from the United States but was caught when his parcel was intercepted by customs officials on August 8 last year.

The package’s label stated that it contained a ceramic dish and an ornament featuring three ceramic owls sitting on a log but x-rays revealed that in fact it held the lethal IWI .22 calibre UZI machine gun and 187 rounds of ammunition.

Following the discovery, US Homeland Security notified Metropolitan Police and officers from the Met’s Central Task Force carried out a search of hi

ATF Raids Gun Parts Store in California

Wed, 03/19/2014 - 04:18

The ATF acted like a bunch of thugs, they didn’t even have a warrant!

The owner of a California gun parts store says he plans to take legal action after federal agents raided his business, confiscating computers, customer lists and 80 percent lower receivers as part of an investigation into alleged federal firearms violations.

Dimitrios Karras, owner of Ares Armor in National City, told Fox5SanDiego.com the raid by Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives agents took place just days after the company obtained a temporary restraining order against the agency.

“There were women and children inside our retail establishment when the (ATF) agents came in with guns drawn,” Karras told the station. “They came into our firearms manufacturing facility saying, ‘Arms up!’ like they were invading Iraq.”

The ATF says their investigation into Ares Armor stems from the sale of a new plastic version of the 80 percent lower receiver, which can be used to build AR-15 rifles, according to the report.

Although certain receivers may be sold and purchased legally, the agency claims the company was selling receivers manufactured differently with two parts, making them illegal to sell.

Karras said he had agreed to turn over the lower receiv

Backstreets Pub & Deli in Clemson, a South Carolina pub, posted this sign:

The owner of the pub, who would only give the name Pete, describes himself as a conservative Democrat, not the “big-ass liberal” people are painting him to be.

Pete told The Washington Times that he’s a big supporter of gun rights and has had a concealed weapons permit since 2001, but doesn’t feel guns

Jitterz Java Arms Employees

Rob me once, shame on you, rob me thrice, arm yourself and encourage your employees to do the same.

SPOKANE, Wash. -

After three robberies in less than a month at Jitterz Java, employees say they’re refusing to be victimized anymore and are preparing to pack heat on the job.

Jitterz Java owner Sara Chapel is encouraging her staff members not only to bring their guns, but she’s keeping one in the stand just in case.

“I would rather have it and need it, than need it and not have it,” Krystal Cogswell said.

Order a drink and you may find yourself looking at Krystal Cogswell’s .38 Special Lavender Lady secured to her hip. She’s one of the half dozen employees arming themselves in case of another robbery.

Mushrooms Are Stronger than Taser

Tue, 03/18/2014 - 01:45

“You don’t need a gun, just carry a taser.” Oh yeah? Then explain this:

Man on mushrooms punches officer, unaffected by Taser

PHOENIX — A man allegedly punched a Phoenix police officer leading officers to use a Taser and then fire stun bags at him, but police said that did not effect him.

Witness told police he had been using hallucinogenic mushrooms.

An officer responded to calls of a fight Saturday night in North Phoenix at a home near 4th Street and Union Hills Drive.

The suspect, Bobby Keen, allegedly pretended he needed help then told the officer “just kidding” before punching him in the head.

After a struggle, police said the officer used a Taser twice on Keen.

On the second try, police said Keen fell to the ground but got back up and tried to take the Taser away from the officer.

Police said Keen then ran inside his home after another officer tried to use a Taser on him.

“They didn’t know if he was going inside to get a gun or what he was doing inside, so they were barricading the whole house making sure nothing was happening,” said Felicia Morales, a neighb

City Harasses Durango Gun Club Over NRA Membership Requirenment

Tue, 03/18/2014 - 01:41

Here’s why you don’t want to do business with your City, State, or Federal Government.

The city of Durango has given notice to the Durango Gun Club: The nonprofit must either abandon its new requirement that each of its 700 members join the National Rifle Association, or the club must vacate its Florida Road premises, which the club has leased free from the city since 1963.

The Durango Herald first reported the club’s December decision to become a “100 percent NRA club” last week. According to the club’s new bylaws, membership in the club is dependent on continued membership in the NRA; if you quit the NRA, you quit the club.

The club’s president, John Malarsie, could not be reached for comment by phone, and its information officer, Marc Vetri, did not respond to emails requesting comment.

In late February, Joe Perino, secretary and treasurer of the club, said the decision to require members to belong to the NRA was financial, not political. Being a 100 percent NRA club makes the local club eligible for NRA grants, he said, allowing it to make much-needed improvements to its shooting ranges.

The club performs many community services, inclu

Armed in the Shower

Tue, 03/18/2014 - 01:31

This is a brilliant idea,  Here’s what The Truth About Guns had to say:

7. Bring my gun into the shower? You’re friggin’ crazy?

My view: Aside from sleeping, showering is the most vulnerable time for home dwellers. When you’re in the shower the sound of the water will drown out almost any noise (including your barking dog). Your eyesight will not be the same as it normally is and your time in the rain locker can be timed by a surreptitious home invader.

It’s no secret that rapists have been known to stalk their female targets by observing the light in the window of their bathrooms at night. Rapists will note the length of time and how long the water stays running, giving them a perfect opportunity to enter the dwelling and lie in wait for the unsuspecting woman to exit the bathroom. Like rapists, burglars have also caught on to this technique, too. Bringing your gun into the shower isn’t crazy by any means. It just makes sense.
