Sig Sauer SWAT Ad

I like Sig Sauer, and I’m not anti-cop but I don’t think gun-tootin’ Libertarians like seeing Statists packing guns.

May I suggest an ad featuring normal people with that firearm?

The Academy looks fine, the eagle looks a little German if you know what I’m saying. I’m not criticizing, just pointing out something the anti-gunners can use against us.

122 gun injuries is not carnage

Mon, 03/17/2014 - 16:48

More people than ever are buying guns in Washington State, and gun hater David M. Rosenthal doesn’t like it:

In 2012, licensed firearm dealers in Washington conducted 519,209 background checks for gun sales — three times the number a decade earlier, according to a federal database.

….

Hospitals here admitted 122 people with “unintentional firearm” injuries that year, the latest for which data is available

….

The 2012 numbers show that the year’s carnage stretched far beyond the three incidents that captured widespread attention in three weeks that winter.

Read Entire Diatribe Here: http://union-bulletin.com/news/2014/mar/17/unintentional-gun-related-injuries-upswing/

First of all, let’s assume 122 gun injuries came from law-abiding gun owners and not from criminals who didn’t go to a background check. That’s a 0.02% rate of injury! I wish activities like casual sex had that rate of injury! Even the pill women take is only 99% effective, which means you’re more likely to get pregnant than you are to get injured by your g

Burn, Baby, Burn- Registration Inferno

Mon, 03/17/2014 - 16:21

We’re standing up against our enemies, bravo.

Gun rights advocates in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., reportedly burned nearly one thousand gun registration forms to ashes in a clear act of civil disobedience.

Under the hastily-passed SAFE Act, Gun owners have until April 15 to register their so-called semi-automatic rifles that fall under the state’s own definition of “military-style assault weapons.” The forms they burned are the very forms the state wants them to turn in registering their firearms.

Instead, gun owners rallied at the Saratoga-Wilton Elks Lodge 161 to torch the forms in a “symbolic protest,” the Post-Star reports.

Jake Palmateer, co-founder of NY2A, the gun rights group that organized the protest, said the group stands against gun registration because the “evidence is clear that registration leads to confiscation.”

Palmateer also said he and other gun owners hope so few people register their guns that the provision “

Gun used to shot Pope John Paul II on Display in Poland

Mon, 03/17/2014 - 16:15

I don’t know if this story belongs in the gun banner category, I’m putting it there just in case. I don’t see how the gun is a “dark, dark object.” If the Pope could forgive the man that shot him, maybe the museum director needs to forgive the gun, or better yet, realize it’s just an object.

(CNN) — The gun used in an assassination attempt on Pope John Paul II is to be displayed in the late pontiff’s childhood home in Poland, ahead of his expected canonization next month.

Italy’s Justice Ministry has loaned the weapon, a Browning 9mm, to the John Paul II Museum in his hometown, Wadowice, for three years.

“It is a dark, dark object,” the museum’s director, Reverend Darius Ras, told CNN. “But it is important for the historical memory of events in the life of John Paul II.”

Would-be assassin Mehmet Ali Agca used the firearm to shoot the then-Pope in the abdomen, arm and hand, as he was driven through St Peter’s Square, Rome on May 13, 1981.

Pope John Paul II suffered life-threatening injuries in the attack, but recovered after undergoing major surgery; he later forgave Agca after meeting him in prison.

Agca, who has never fully explained the reasons behi

Why Gun Ad Got Placed Next to Shooting Story

Mon, 03/17/2014 - 03:18

This picture is upsetting some people:

The ad, beside a story about the 12-year-old boy who shot and wounded two classmates Tuesday, offers website visitors sales and discounts on guns, ammunition and training classes.

A similar incident occurred earlier in January when Connecticut newspaper, The Stamford Advocate, ran a very large gun advertisement next to a story about the first day back to school for Sandy Hook Elementary students. The newspaper later apologized for the “insensitive” error.

Yet there’s a technical explanation:

Context-sensitive ad servers base the ads they serve up on the text on a page. I have a page with an HTML generator on it that has power generator ads displaying, and gluten-free recipe pages that display ads for bulk gluten.

A site can block an ad they don’t want to display on their site, but they probably don’t want this ad to be completely blocked, because (at least if it was displaying next to appropriate content) some of their readers will click to buy the

DoubleTap Ad

I’m not a fan of DoubleTap because this gives the anti-gunners the perfect excuse they need to restrict magazine sizes. They’ll look at this and say “See? You don’t need 17 rounds, with DoubleTap you get 2.” Well, I need more than 2, I respect a gun company’s right to make any product they like, but I think I’d rather carry a small six-shooter before carrying a DoubleTap.

This ad is pretty smart, considering they’re advertising on Combat Handguns and they’re not really a handgun but an air pistol. Is that the fancy way of saying “bb gun”?

I like the headline, although in Florida can can shoot real handguns in the backyards (although the Democrats are trying to change that).

When your gun becomes reclassified…

Sun, 03/16/2014 - 17:03

This is happening in Canada…

Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney has introduced a two-year amnesty for owners of guns, such as these Swiss Arms rifles, that were recently reclassified as prohibited. Photograph by: Adrian Shellard/For Postmedia , Postmedia News

Owners of two lines of rifles that the RCMP recently reclassified as prohibited will be shielded from criminal sanction for possessing them under an amnesty that took effect late last week and that will last for two years.

Public Safety Minister Steven Blaney, whose office has maintained that he was not consulted on the decision to reclassify the guns, has also vowed to introduce longer-term measures in coming weeks that will protect gun owners from any future “retroactive and unpredictable decisions.”

Don’t sneak it and you won’t get shot

Sat, 03/15/2014 - 14:20

A father shot dead his daughter’s 17-year-old boyfriend after finding him in her bedroom at night.

Police said Johran McCormick died when the girl’s unnamed father mistook him for an intruder and shot him in Harris County, Texas.

The 16-year-old girl allegedly snuck Johran into her room without permission. Her father was then awoken by one of his four children, who told him there was someone else in the house.

According to detectives, the man then picked up his gun and went to his daughter’s room to investigate.

After finding Johran there, his daughter immediately denied knowing him, leading to an argument between him and the boy.

Her father called police before an argument broke out. He then opened fire when the teen dropped his hands as if to pick something up.

Police said Johran, who died at the scene, was unarmed.

His mother Zakia told KHOU 11 News on Friday: “I have never felt pain like this. Ever.”

“He didn’t deserve to die like that.”

Harris County Officials have said they will present their findings to the Harris County Grand Jury for its consideration.

70 March for Open Carry in Arkansas

Sat, 03/15/2014 - 13:54

Brian Morrison, a Mountain Home resident and member of the pro-gun group Arkansas Carry, told a crowd of nearly 70 people how proud he was of his country, his freedoms and to be part of a significant moment in Twin Lakes Area history.

For the first time in Mountain Home, residents walked openly with firearms during a Celebration Walk through the city on Saturday.

Organized by Arkansas Carry, the march celebrated what the group calls the right of state residents to openly carry a firearm, an interpretation it believes is lawful through Act 746 legislation passed last April by Arkansas lawmakers.

The march began at the old Walmart location at approximately 10:50 a.m. and reached its midpoint along U.S. Highway 62 Business in the downtown square behind Baxter County Courthouse. Participants in the walk then retraced their steps, returning one mile to the parking lot where the event began.

“Uneventful” may be the best description of the march. There were no anti-gun protests, no police intervention; in fact, the long stretch of walkers received positive acknowledgement as the sounds of horns honking and words of encouragement were heard on occasion from passing motorists.

“The march went excellent, it was as peaceful as we e
