Journalist Attacks Tim Donnely’s Brother
The knives are out for Tim Donnelly, check out this hit piece by David Siders:
BURLINGAME – Tim Donnelly, who has made gun rights a centerpiece of his campaign for governor, has a complicated history with firearms.
The Legislature’s most outspoken Second Amendment advocate, he pleaded no contest to two misdemeanors after carrying a loaded gun into Ontario International Airport in 2012, and he acknowledged recently that the gun was not registered in his name.
As he’s traveled the state in recent months, he has handled and fired guns at campaign events, raising questions about whether he was complying with the terms of his probation.
He has also experienced tragedy, the death of a family member following a gun-related arrest. His brother Paul E. Donnelly hanged himself in a Laurens County, S.C., jail in 2000 after he was arrested on charges that included assault with intent to kill, according to records reviewed by The Bee.

Last month, Donnelly’s main Republican opponent, Neel Kashkari, told an audience in Sacramento that he owns four guns and supports gun rights but is “not running on an agenda of the
Liberals Hate The Gun Laws They Pass
Liberals love gun control until it hurts the protected categories they love, consider this Reduce Gun Penalties editorial by MAYA SCHENWAR:
CHICAGO — IN May of 2002, a 23-year-old man named Michael Brandon Shuler was sentenced in federal court to 15 years in prison for illegally possessing a gun — something that even the prosecutor acknowledged was a “rather benign act.”
Mr. Shuler’s lengthy sentence may seem cruel, but sadly it wasn’t unusual. It came courtesy of the Armed Career Criminal Act, a federal law that carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years for people who possess a gun and have three prior convictions for certain crimes. These crimes include drug offenses and “violent” crimes, a category that encompasses a range of charges, such as breaking and entering, that may involve no actual physical violence.

I see, so you want selective enforcement of federal laws? Throw the book at Zimmerman, let Shuler go free, OK.
The latter situation was the case with Mr. Shuler. At 18, having grown up in a poor
How the Media Manipulates Guns
We all know people who are either afraid of guns or simply don’t like them. But why? In a word, Hollywood. Since the 1960s, it’s been almost impossible to watch any TV crime show without finding numerous inaccurate and downright false depictions of guns and gun owners.
Serious students of mass media manipulation know that the most successful propaganda hides the real agenda in subtle “themes” combined with constant repetition. For example, roughly half of American homes own at least one gun, more every day. But on television, about the only people with guns are cops and criminals. The (very false) impression is thus given that “average folks” owning guns is a relatively rare phenomenon.
Or take gun registration. Most people, including gun owners, are surprised to find that only nine states (and Washington, D.C.) actually have laws requiring registration of handguns. Because if you watch any of the long-running crime shows, you would think that gun registration was the norm.
In just about every episode involving a firearm you will likely have some detective asking, “Who was the gun registered to?” or announcing, “The gun was registered to…” or simply, “The gun wasn’t registered.”
Characters will als
