Video: Expert Marksman Transforms Porsche into Target Thrower
That's one target thrower you really don't want to shoot.
It seems that shooting instructor Philip Thorrold has no problem taking his stunts to the next level. First it's shooting clays out of a Ferrari while doing donuts, and now it's shooting clays actually launched by a Porsche Targa. For those who are interested, the Targa starts at $100,000 and only goes up.
The video doesn't explain how this Bond-esque car modification works or how it was installed, but it looks like a lot of...
North Carolina Officials Consider Opening First Alligator Season
The North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission (NCWRC) is seeking public input on a possible alligator hunting season in the near future. According to The Virginian Pilot, a spokesman for the commission said that the season would likely run from September 1 to October 1, if approved, with a bag limit of just one alligator. Firearms will not be allowed. Hunters would have to choose between harpoons, bows and...
TN Officials Confirm First Sighting of Mountain Lion in 100 Years
For the first time in over a century, Tennessee officials say that mountain lions may be returning to the state. In October, the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA) confirmed that a hunter in Obion County discovered pictures of a mountain lion on his trail camera. The agency determined that photo was legitimate, making it the first cougar sighting in the state in over 100 years.
Other counties have also reported sightings. The most recent confirmed discovery of a mountain lion came from Humphreys County, near the center of the state and about 30 miles from Nashville. According to...
One Last Shot: Hunting Last-minute Whitetails
Deer season always seems to start out with mild temperatures and long days, and ends with the brutal cold of winter (maybe not this season, given how warm the weather's been). While some hunters hang up the bow or rifle and kick back for a winter spent sitting in front of the fireplace, there are those hardy souls who gear up and venture out into the elements to fill those unused tags. The good news for them is, there are some really nice bucks to be had as the season winds to a close. You just need to get that Read more »

Photos: 11 More Taxidermy Fails That Deserve Refunds
It takes a lot to be a good taxidermist. Many professionals start at a very young age and choose this fascinating field because they have a passion for wildlife. Learning how to properly mount an animal is as hard as it looks, and it takes many years of apprenticing, taking courses, or learning on your own before you can call yourself a master taxidermist. Many states and counties require taxidermists to be licensed, guaranteeing a general standard of quality. Successful taxidermists spend a lot of effort building up their reputation---both in quality and customer service---before they have a...
Taya Kyle, Widow of Chris Kyle, Defeats Champion Marksman in Shootout
Taya Kyle, the widow of legendary Navy SEAL sniper Chris Kyle, shocked onlookers at the American Sniper Shootout when she beat champion marksman Bruce Piatt, one of the top professional shooters in the world, with a perfect score. The competition not only marked Kyle's first foray into professional shooting, but also pitted TrackingPoint's Precision-guided Firearm (PGF) technology against the skill and experience of an expert shooter. The result was noticeably one-sided.
"Congratulations to Taya Kyle---American Wife on winning the American Sniper Shootout on Saturday!" TrackingPoint wrote...
Video: Unbelievable High-speed Pontoon Beer Toss Clears Bridge
Hey, can you catch my beer after I throw it over this bridge?
We are not sure what kind of planing, if any, went into this incredible trick beer toss (if it's real), but the result is amazing. The boaters in this video decided to try and catch a beer after throwing it over a bridge during a high-speed run. The extra speed from the pontoon was apparently just enough for one of the passengers to make the catch on the other side of the bridge.
The amount of coordination it takes to throw a beer over a bridge from a speeding boat and catch it on the the other side is beyond...
Building with the Best: Making an AK with Definitive Arms
Definitive Arms is part of the AK Holy Trinity in the United States. Alongside Krebs Custom Guns and Rifle Dynamics, they’re considered the top dogs in American Kalashnikov manufacturing and customization. After October's Big 3 East event, I was offered the tremendous opportunity to assemble my own AK in a small, hands-on build class. I was also able to get a glimpse of the tremendous amount of time, care, and knowledge that goes into each Definitive Arms gun.
The DA shop is located not far from the freeway in an industrial part of St. Petersburg, Florida. A plain white sign with the...
Video: British WW2 Commando Explains Knife Fighting Tactics
This video contains a brutal description of knife fighting during war time---viewer discretion is advised.
The Fairbairn-Sykes fighting knife was a dagger-like implement that was issued to British commandos like Stan W. Scott, interviewed in the video below, during World War Two. In the video, Scott gives a brutal description of some of the deadly techniques employed by special forces against their enemies.
These stories are pretty chilling coming from a man who stormed the beaches of Normandy as an airborne commando.

Video: Can a Spoon Stop a .22 LR Bullet?
You may think the answer is obvious, but you might be surprised.
In this experiment, Matt from Demolition Ranch tests to see how thick a spoon has to be to stop a .22 LR round. The four spoons he uses range from the cheap, flimsy kind that you can bend with your own hands, to a thick ice cream scooper that if it was any heavier, could be used as a bludgeon.
We're not going to ruin the surprise, but suffice it to say that if all firearms were chambered in .22, then we might see a resurgence in improvised, medieval-style...
11-foot Alligator Eats Accused Burglar in Florida
Authorities in Florida believe that a man was killed and partially eaten by an alligator while trying to evade police officers following a burglary attempt.
The Brevard County Sheriff's Office announced recently that the body of Matthew Riggins, 22, was found in a Barefoot Bay Lake after being reported missing. According to clickorlando.com, deputies said that Riggins told his girlfriend on November 13 that he was going to commit burglaries with an accomplice. Later that night, a...
Catholic Nun Mocked for Posting Picture of Harvested Buck
Like any other hunter would be, Sister John Paul Bauer was elated after harvesting a 10-point, 200-pound buck during hunting season in Pennsylvania. According to CNS News, the 60-year-old Benedictine nun from St. Mary's, Pennsylvania had only harvested two other deer in her life, but she was quick to share the meat from her buck with other families in the Erie Diocese. Understandably proud of her achievement, the nun put a photo of the deer on Facebook, which was then shared by the Erie...
Video: How Many Lions Are in This Bush?
This bush is a like a clown car for lions.
A tourist in South Africa's Kruger National Park recently took this footage of what appeared to be an entire pride of lions coming out of a bush. Now obviously the lions were simply passing through---rather than waiting comically inside the bush before coming out one at a time---but the sight is still pretty amusing. According to officials, seeing so many lions so close to the road is also somewhat rare.
You may notice that some of the lions, especially the cubs, look a bit undernourished. Hopefully they get a good meal in...
5 Internet Deer Legends That Are True

Here are five strange deer and deer-related phenomena that you probably have already seen before, whether on Facebook, Twitter, or through "old school" email chains. Which ones did you think were fake?
1. The calico buck

Video: Fawn “Reacts” to Kitten’s “Vicious Predatory Attack”
Deer fawns have a strange approach when it comes to fending off predators---generally, they don't really do anything. They just play dead and hope that if they stay still long enough, whatever's trying to eat it will simply move on. Combined with their natural lack of scent, this strategy actually works well enough to the point where does will leave their young alone for the first few weeks of their life. Actually being around the fawn will endanger both of them more than just it laying in the brush alone.
However, if a predator already found the fawn, then most of the time it just...
Video: Amazing Fishing-themed Christmas Light Display
'Tis the season for themed Christmas light displays, and this might be the best one we've seen yet in 2015.

Ground Blinds: Perfect for Late-season Deer Hunting
Late-season deer hunting is often characterized by harsh conditions. Ground blinds are the perfect solution in so many ways.
My son Dawson sat close beside me as we watched two does feed in the hayfield, 40 yards out of range. Dawson was 12 years old and in his hand was the bow he had practiced with for hours all summer. In his pocket was his very first archery deer tag. He so wanted to cut a notch into it. I think I was as eager as he was.
We had placed this blind in position on the edge of the alfalfa several weeks before. It took several days for the deer to get accustomed...
Video: California Paddleboarder Nearly Swallowed by Whale
A humpback whale almost got a mouthful of paddleboarder off the coast of California.
A paddleboarder was cruising off near the beach in Santa Cruz, California when a whale breached right next to him. The man was obviously startled, but he somehow managed to stay on his board.
If the whale had been just a foot or two closer this would have been a very different video. Even though humpback whales exclusively eat krill, they still weigh thousands of pounds and they could potentially injure a human.

Video: Firefighter Creates Non-freezing Tip-up
When Marty Schramski, a firefighter and avid ice fisherman, first started working on his idea of a multi-function tip-up, he used little more than a traffic cone and cannibalized parts from other tip-ups already on the market. The model he unveiled at St. Paul Ice Fishing and Winter Sports Show was noticeably more polished. Schramski's Firehouse tip-up may look strange to the eyes, but it boasts a number of features that is sure to interest dedicated fishermen.
"This new generation tip-up is a highly visible tip-up with a high powered LED light, which is visible day or night up to a 1/2...
