A crowd assembled to pay their respects to U.S. Navy Petty Officer 2nd Class Randall Smith as his remains were escorted to Chattanooga National Cemetery.

Smith, a Logistics Specialist specialist from Pauling, Ohio, was killed in what authorities are terming an act of domestic terrorism on July 18 alongside four Marines at Navy Operational Support Center Chattanooga.

Thousands lined the route for Smith as they did for Marine Staff Sergeant David Wyatt, who was laid to rest last Friday at the National Cemetery.

Legislation has been introduced seeking the Purple Heart for the military personnel killed and wounded in the attack.

Amid the national news media coverage of the Colorado theater shooting trial, some totally evil person decided to murder moviegoers in Louisiana. This makes me think of three things: the gun debate, understanding evil people, and being proven innocent by reason of insanity.
