...In praise of the .22 Long Rifle
What’s your favorite round? We can argue endlessly about how effective the 9mm Luger round is, how much punishment the .40 S&W or .357 Sig deliver to your handgun, and how many hits to the pinky finger are required to knock someone over with a .45 ACP. But who among us doesn’t feel affection for the unpretentious .22 Long Rifle?

...Robber runs away after store clerk takes his shotgun
An attempted robbery at an E-Z Mart in Hooks, Texas, Monday night was amiss after the store clerk took the suspect’s shotgun.
The suspect, who was described as a black male wearing a gray hoodie and a mask, entered the store about 11:30 p.m., but when the clerk saw an opportunity to take the would-be robber’s shotgun, he did just that, which sent the suspect fleeing from the store on foot.
Responding officers were unable to locate the male suspect, but his shotgun was left behind and collected for evidence.
It’s unknown if the suspect made it out of the store with any cash.

...Rare Capt. Nemo-ish revolver featured as part of steampunk exhibit (VIDEO)
The NRA’s National Firearms Museum has a rare Civil War-era .44 caliber Pideault et Cadier double-action revolver as the centerpiece of their new exhibit of steampunk guns.
The Pideault, of which some 700 were purchased for the Union Army in the Civil War– reportedly President Lincoln was in tight with the company’s agent– is rarely seen and looks as if it could have been used by some 19th century gentleman adventurer bedecked with monocle and mustache.
Or experimental submarine going 20,000 leagues.
