Skynet alert! Armed backyard drone gets off a few shots from PMR-30 (VIDEO)
Video has surfaced that appears to show a DIY multi-rotor hobby drone firing a Kel Tec PMR-30 pistol with unknown results.
The video, posted to YouTube last Friday, shows what is described as a 26 inch remote control quad-copter that has been outfitted to fire a .22LR pistol. While its not the first time that armed droned have taken to the sky (ever heard of the Predator?), this is one of the first homegrown variety to pop up firing more than a paintball or airsoft gun.
In the clip the flying sniper gets off four shots and you can see both muzzle flash and ejecting brass– but the craft gets slapped around a good bit by the recoil, which gives you pause as to just what its able to hit downrange.
Watch the skies.

Armed robber taken down by unarmed, off-duty firefighter (VIDEO)
An attempted robbery at a convenience store in Midlothian, Texas, last month was foiled by a firefighter who happened to be in the right place at the right time, and the entire take-down was captured on surveillance video that was released this week.
Daniel Gaskey was simply standing at the counter when the suspect, who had his face partially covered, stormed into the store and pushed Gaskey to the side before placing a knife on the counter and demanding money from the cashier.
Without missing a beat, Gaskey came from behind, put his arms tightly around the suspect’s neck and slammed him to the ground.
Moments later, police responded to the robbery in progress and took care of the suspect.
Towards the end of the video, an onlooker can be seen giving Gaskey a thumbs-up before walking out of the store.

...Real solutions
In my discussions of gun violence and gun rights, I’m often confronted with the question of what I would do to reduce the number of people who get shot, especially the number who die in mass shootings. This is often meant as a political attack, since people who support gun rights are assumed to be right-wing, but it does raise important matters to consider.
...Robber shot with own gun (VIDEO)
An attempted robbery at a liquor store in Houston Tuesday afternoon left the suspect dead after the clerk wrestled his gun away and shot him.
The suspect, who was only described as a young man, entered the store about 3:15 p.m., jumped over the counter and demanded cash from the clerk. But the clerk did not comply and a struggled ensued before the clerk gained control of the robber’s gun and shot him.
The incident was apparently captured on the store’s surveillance video and is being reviewed by authorities.
