Yankee Marshal on choosing the perfect carry gun (VIDEO)

Fri, 07/10/2015 - 16:17

The Yankee Marshal goes through his scale of 1 to 100 in figuring out the factors that make a handgun the best carry gun you can have when the chips are down.

This week Maine adopted constitutional carry as a rule, the seventh such state to do so, which means that a lot more Mainers will be able to carry that concealed handgun once the law kicks in. Add to this the 45 states that allow for open carry, and the 50 that (theoretically) allow concealed carry with a permit, and this means millions of Americans are legally able to pack hardware if desired.

And the YM does a pretty good job in detailing his reasoning in cutting through the options available out there for you.

Christopher Lee and the Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare (VIDEO)

Fri, 07/10/2015 - 15:29

Nick over at Ranger Up weighs in on the recent death of man among men, British actor and warrior poet Christopher Lee, and some of the bad asses he hung out with in WWII.

In July 1940, Great Britain was on the ropes and stood alone against the might of Hitler and Mussolini in Europe. With the entry of the Soviet Union and the U.S. still more than a year down the line, Winston Churchill came up with a plan for a number of commando units to pull off hit and run attacks in occupied Europe to help keep the Axis off balance.

These guys trained to go in hard and fast and leave bodies, confusion and smoking ruins behind them by the time the enemy got around to sending in reinforcements.

It was all rather, well, ungentlemanly. But hey, as noted by Nick above as he makes an Old Fashioned, sometimes you have to take the gloves off.

Cheers.

Kirsten Joy Weiss explores whether a computer can improve shooting skills (VIDEO)

Fri, 07/10/2015 - 12:50

Kirsten Joy Weiss sets her tricks aside for an informative – yet still fun – video looking at whether technology can actually help improve shooting skills. After testing out the SCATT MX 02, which hooks up directly to your firearm and relays tons of information into a computer program, Weiss shared her thoughts.

“Think of it as a little coach that’s able to watch and record your every move,” she explained in the video, liking the MX 02 to a gun-loving cousin of R2-D2.

Weiss said she has tried high-tech devices in the past to help improve her skills, but nothing she found – until now – has been satisfactory. However, the simplicity and ease of use she got from the SCATT MX 02 hits the mark in her book.
