Wed, 01/28/2015 - 14:00

The explosion from a deadly car bomb which exploded in Barangay Guiwan, Zamboanga City, in the Philliphines last week was captured on camera by someone near enough to have been jolted by the blast.

The bomb, which was believed to have exploded on a Kia parked outside of a local bar, went off around 3 p.m. on a Friday as people busily went about their day.

52 people were injured and at least two people were killed.

The blast came after the city had received multiple threats over the military’s operations working against the terrorist group known as Abu Sayyaf.

A brief history of the Black Panthers and how it’s relevant today (VIDEO)

Tue, 01/27/2015 - 17:00

This short documentary looks at the foundations for the Black Panther Party and a brief history of its origins.

“We use the black panther as our symbol because of the nature of a panther,” Huey Newton of the Black Panther Party explained 50 years ago. “The panther doesn’t strike anyone, but when he’s assailed upon, he’ll back up first, but if the aggressor continues, then he’ll strike out.”

Some believe that the oppression and discrimination felt by black citizens at the height of desegregation more than 50 years ago is being replayed in today’s society.
