Thu, 01/08/2015 - 16:55

The Albuquerque Police Department released chilling footage Tuesday from a lapel camera worn by an officer as he was shot during a traffic stop over the weekend.

Officer Lou Golson pulled over Christopher Cook for suspicion of driving under the influence, but Golson later determined that the vehicle was stolen.

The dramatic video shows Golson walk up to the driver’s side window and in a split second, Cook pulls out a gun and starts shooting. Cook fired a total of five shots, three of which struck Golson, who returned fire, but did not hit Cook.

Cook was arrested Tuesday. Golson is said to be in serious condition, but is recovering and expected to survive.
